  1. For a single. Thank you, Green Monster.
  2. But I'd rather have six shots at him than just three in one inning. At the very least that's more pitches he can't throw tomorrow. Schilling also up in the pen.
  3. McCarver remarked that Varitek had the perfect windage on that throw down to third base. Which he "clarified" by saying it wasn't too far to the right or to the left. By which I assumed he meant to say aim. This followed a comment by McCarver that was meant to go with a comment on how Matsui coming off the bag was what actually resulted him being tagged out. But McCarver had to change horses in midstream as the Fox slow motion replay showed clearly Matsui getting tagged out on his lead foot before he reached the bag. So McCarver clarified his statement by pointing out that Matsui coming off the bag "made sure" of the out after Matsui was already out.
  4. Windage?! Who brought the crack to the Fox announcer booth?
  5. He couldn't find the plate. Gave up 6 runs in the third.
  6. Come on Embree. Learn the goddamn rules of the game.
  7. Nice standing O for Gonzalez. Great to be part of a fan base that can recognize the significance of what he did today.
  8. Too bad the two hitters he hit between him couldn't put a ball in play.
  9. Anyone know what is written on the underside of Gonzalez's bill?
  10. I have to say I was ruing his appearance when I saw him post his first message the inning after the Yankees had beat up on our best starter for 6 runs. But he appear as to be more than just a Yankee fan who is interested in antagonizing the locals.
  11. If we do comeback, Gonzalez ought to get a lot of credit these last three innings. In these types of games so often you see a team get a few runs back and the relief pitcher fail to shut the other team down. Next inning will be the biggest yet though.
  12. Hope we get Randy out of the game soon to give Damon a shot at a better match up. Otherwise, the hit streak could be in trouble.
  13. Nice inning by Gonzalez after a lead off double.
  14. Giambi should have stayed at first. Bernie has a worse avg with runners in scoring position than he does with runners on. You gotta know those stats and play the pct's.
  15. That was just ugly all around. Mirabelli trying to stop and turn around after running at full tilt is like watching an elephant on an ice rink.
  16. Really? I'm watching it right now. It's on Fox.
  17. Just moved here a year ago. I've been an Irish fan all my life and that's my alma mater. But since I'm going to be here a while working for a PhD, I've started following them.
  18. Alright Manny. It's about time you get back to murdering lefthanders.
  19. Not nearly as much as he gets when he says the word "Yankees" The A team for a network shouldn't contain a homer like McCarver.
  20. Dumb McCarver statement #1 - The architects of the ballpark in 1912 had the wherewithal to put the bullpens far enough from homeplate so that the pitcher on the mound couldn't hear the pop of the ball in the bullpen. Should someone point out to him that he bullpens were only put out there in right field when Williams joined the team?
  21. This is the worst thing that could happen today. Have a huge advantage in fresh arms after last night and Clement can't throw strikes except for the fat part of plate.
  22. If we want to get picky, World Series ought to be capitalized. And he misspells Youkilis. Unacceptable since they run that Youkilis/Announcer boy commercial where Youk spells it on camera on NESN twelve times a game. And that's quite possibly the most original thing I can say on this well tread topic. As far as unoriginal thoughts go, I think that part of the problem with Bellhorn was alleviated when Cora came in. Not that Cora is good enough to split time with Bellhorn, but he's at least someone you can put at 2B if you need to pinch hit for Bellhorn in a situation where putting the ball in play is critical. (Not to suggest that Cora ought to be the pinch hitter either. Just that now someone else can pinch hit for Bellhorn and Cora has you covered as opposed to putting Mueller or someone else out of position and sacrificing defense.) And for those looking for the glass half full approach here: you know your team is pretty productive when arguing over Mark Bellhorn is the most frequent complaint that you hear about your lineup.
  23. Show's what this guy knows. Anyone can clearly see that David Ortiz has no neck.
