    Oh joy. I get to watch the Guardians and Yankees on bonus coverage now. And it's even the YankeesEverySecond broadcast. I think I'll check if Big Brother 4 is still on.

    Seven second delay? That means when Trup starts call Way Back Way Back on an Oriole pop fly to the infield you already know not to panic. He must have more premature home run calls than any one in the league.

    I'm frightened to see what he'd do if he got on base with Wakefield on the mound. He might steal second and third on the same pitch.

    And I'm telling you the numbers don't matter. Switch the two players and have A-Rod and Jeter and Sheffield hitting behind Posednik and Taguchi and Everett hitting behind Matsui and a lot of those numbers would flip flop. I've seen probably 20 White Sox games and about 30 Yankee games this season and Posednik has done a lot more to help his team win than Matsui has. They probably both deserve to be there, but I'd take Posednik over Matsui.

    Cora was a hell of a ball player at Miami in college. Maybe the Sox can petition to let him use an aluminium bat.

    Not to mention the fact that Helton has been horrifically inconsistent the first half of the season. Last time I ever waste a fantasy baseball pick on his ass.

    Personally, I almost don't want the Yankees to be out of it. In the end I want the Sox to win the division and the Yankees to be on the golf course earlier than they've been in 10 yrs. But it would really be an event if one team or the other had a one or two game lead going into those last three games at Fenway to end the season. Then again it's been pretty entertaining watching Randy Johnson lose his velocity and turning into a poor man's Jamie Moyer and seeing the rest of the team imploding around him.

    I'm glad for Payton. I think he came in and played and handled things professionally. He is after all set to be a free agent and at the peak of his career. Not having the opportunity to start for half a season cost him a chance to show a team what he can do and he now gets a chance to show his skills. I could see him going to one of those teams that are looking at Preston Wilson/Mark Kotsay (except for the Yankees of course.) So maybe the Cubs or the Nationals. Another possible destination might be Cleveland who could use another vetran bat in the middle of the line up and has one of the deepest bullpens in the league to go and get it with.

    Wow. That's a birilliant move by Theo. I thought he'd have to settle for a bag of slightly used batting practice balls in return for Vazquez (with the Sox of course having to eat some of Vazquez's contract and take on the entire salary of the balls in the deal.) I never dreamed we'd get someone who might even get an at bat in the majors.

    Saw these too. He's partially right. The team is four games up and yet it still feels like we're just treading water. Regarding possible destinations for Millar, I believe he'd rather stay in the AL since he is probably a good candidate for a 1B/DH platoon on another team. Hell, if he's really being as whiny as these reports say, send him to Tampa Bay. Maybe Pinella can use him as a starting pitcher.

    I wouldn't exactly say that Posednik is having a better year than Matsui. On paper, it looks like Matsui has the edge, but watch a few White Sox games and you'll recognize that Posednik does a lot more than his numbers say. You can see the opposing pitcher's eyes twirl around in his head thinking about trying to hold him on first base. I don't think that it'd be too much of a stretch to say that he has had the biggest impact of any American League acquisition this season.

    Sizzlin, can you get a link or something on this story? Not that I doubt your sources, but it seems so preposterous that I'd like to see the context in what it was said. If this is really true, what more could the Sox do? They stuck with him all through last year until he snapped out of his funk and have done the same this year. Outside of his reduced playing time in NL opponents ball parks and being taken out for Olerud for defense late in games, I can't think of what could he possibly be unhappy about. And if that's what he's bitching about, well then let him go honor the contract with Japan that he would have been stuck with had the Red Sox organization not gone out of their way to get him out of it and bring him here.

    Phew! Glad Mueller flew out. Now Bellhorn can come up and strike out with no runners on base.

    I almost missed Millars. I have the MLB.TV package and tonight they are showing the Rangers broadcast. They spent two minutes showing the Kenny Rogers press conference in the middle of an inning.
