  1. Lowell ends the inning on a cookie, stranding 8 for the game, and nothing from the whiner line. I swear, if you were good a couple of years ago, or are perceived as an "RBI guy", it's like you are wearing a teflon suit for some people.
  2. Wow, just saw Melky on a highlight on BBTN. Did he spend the entire winter eating bacon and marshmallow sandwiches?
  3. Beltre isn't the problem in this game. The problem just left for a, likely, better pitcher, Scott Atchison.
  4. Two games in a row for Middlebrooks.

    So...

I thought he promised to leave. That's a pretty simple promise to keep. I guess even simple tasks give him a hard time.
  6. 4 more years of this after this year.
  7. They know exactly what is coming every pitch. He must be tipping.
  8. So, so, overrated.
  9. It's the "seemingly" part that should be in quotes. He's had more time not being very good than being very good since he came to the Sox. It's like he's still a prospect. I'm fairly certain it says, "Property of Vernon Wells", on Beckett's lily white ass.
  10. Tonight at the Moulin Rouge, Josh Beckett staring in Sucktacular, Sucktacular! Overrated, twit.
  11. Ellsbury would have scored.
  12. Nice. Now Beckett needs to not s*** on himself and give it all back.
  13. RBI guys. That's what happens sometimes when you swing away. He helped the pitcher out and chased twice when he could have walked on 4 pitches.
  14. Whether it was at or below is semantics to the point I am making. So it was below. When there is a reasonable assumption that production will get better, be it through the better player returning or through improvement from a slump, then the team benefits. Currently, there are 4 hitters that have reasonable expectations of being good offensive players (Drew, Martinez, Youkilis, and Ortiz), who are just barely playing at replacement level or are worse (Drew and Ortiz). When they start playing better, it will be no different than if they weren't playing and a scrub was filling in.
  15. Right, but for 28 games, they got replacement level production from their best player's position. The Sox are getting replacement level, or worse, production from a few players who should be productive over the whole season. Where the replacement level production is coming from, whether it be the replacement player or the actual player, is immaterial.
  16. Lars (Portland), #5 line: .328/.388/.672 Lavarnway (Salem), #6 line: .377/.424/.754 Middlebrooks (Salem), #1 line: .367/.433/.533 Good day for high talent guys in the system. I'm intrigued to see Middlebrooks start to finally put it together, albeit in a SSS. He was ticketted as very talented player when he was drafted, but never had periods of prolonged success at Lowell or Greenville. It will be interesting to see if he can keep this up.
  17. It's the right play there. You only need one to win.
  18. Reimold, Jones, and Markakis all go by way of the K. That's pretty good stuff.
  19. Clint Malarchuk (sp?).
  20. If you thought it was the 7th, then I can understand your initial take. I would support padding a lead that late in the game.
  21. In the 4th inning?
  22. Bunting was the right move only in hindsight. If you were to repeat that scenario 100 times with the same players involved, there's little doubt in my mind that Swisher and Granderson taking their cuts results in more success than the sac bunt. A good result doesn't change a bad decision to a good one.
