  1. Yankees win, Batista walks the bases-loaded, Escalona single wins it. 5-4
  2. Another 1.1 IP without giving up a run. Got touched for 2 hits and fanned one with no walks. EDIT: He did allow an inherited runner to score.
  3. Posada does what he does best, leaves the lumber on his shoulder, and draws a 1-out walk. Still 4-4 in the home-half of the 9th.
  4. Matsui solo-bomb gets Rivera off the hook for the loss. 4-4
  5. Reed Johnson 2-out single to score Hudson off Rivera, 4-3 Jays.
  6. You know the Yankees are catching breaks when Orlando Hudson boots one for the 3rd out.
  7. Turns the DP again to make-up for it.
  8. Papi double, 3-0......clutch 2-out stuff we are seeing here.
  9. Edgahhh with the 2-out single to bring JD home, 2-0.
  10. Damon gets a two-bagger to bring Billy Baseball in, 1-0.
  11. Billy Baseball time.......double.
  12. And Greinke gets through 2 with less than 20. Why do we make rookies look like aces?
  13. That lineup is rich and creamy
  14. If the offensive projections hold true to form, and he continues to play solid D down the stretch, then ARod is having a more MVP-like year. Ortiz not playing in the field WILL eliminate his chances. Manny's bipolar disorder before the trade deadline will eliminate his. But ARod's not a lock. Vladdy will give him a serious fight for the honor. If teams continue to IBB him, then sportswriters are going to take that into account when looking at the final numbers. That is a possibility, but don't go ordering the champagne yet. And if they don't, then Vlad will win it, again.
  15. Trot's 2-2 with a solo-bomb through 4 innings in his 2nd rehab start.
  16. 1-2-3, 13-pitch inning for Downs.
  17. I'm listening online. Sounds like he's struggling with his command.
  18. Wright: 2 batters, 10 pitches, 2 strikes. 1st and 2nd.
  19. Adams leadoff walk from Wright, steals 2nd. Good start.
  20. Sweet, thanks for the game thread riverside. BTW, I believe Anibal is on the hill tomorrow. See the future today!
  21. They play the Trenton Thunder, the Yankees AA squad. It'll be nice to see how he matches up with Eric Duncan, one of the Yankees best position prospects. Too bad I won't get to see it down here in FL. How about a game thread?
  22. 40 games left and the ChiSox, Red Sox and Angels are separated by 5.5 games. Home field advantage is not locked up. The south-side Sox have to deal with the surging Guardians, the Twins, and improving Tigers. The Red Sox have had their trouble with the Jays and O's, Tampa is playing good right now, and there's always the Yankees to deal with. The Angels have to play the Sox in Fenway, and have divisional series with the A's, the streaky hitting Rangers, and may have to face Felix Hernandez more than once. It's tough to imagine this game not being played at the end.
  23. I think it depends on Miller. If he's capable of quality starts, then I favor his experience. And the idea of Jon coming in every 2nd or 3rd day to throw smoke isn't unappealing. However, if Miller has to be shut down, then Jon can fill his spot in the rotation.
