  1. That's just it Gom, we have plenty of the Yankee fan perspective here, and by posters with much more objectivity than you have. You provide nothing other than an easy target. With your inane ideas and gross contradictions, you are like the honorary Talksox punching bag. Here's the biggest problem with your notion about being the devil's advocate. You are too close to one extreme to be considered objective. Every one of your predictions is spun wildly in favor the Yankees. Making matters worse, you think that anyone who disagrees with you believes in the polar opposite. This is why you've been reminded countless times by posters here to not assign an opinion to them that they haven't voiced. Basically, you don't pay attention to what people are saying and you respond with preconceived opinions about Sox fans. You were guilty of this in the whole, "Why do you like Theo so much" thread/post. Many of the posters here are much closer to the middle than you are. Don't get me wrong, there are some serious fanboys here like everywhere else, but you attribute the fanboy mentality to everyone you engage in discussion. It's frustrating to have to constantly remind you that what you are ranting about was never said by us. And, lets not act like you are here for anything other trying to get under our skin. About half of your posts are nothing more than inflamatory comments, and half of the other half take cheap shots in the middle of stuff that could be considered honest discusssion.
  2. Example, I appreciate your comment in the other thread, but it looks like you have seen the light. I had this guy pegged from his first post, and I've been needling him ever since. Now you see why I don't let up.
  3. Just remember you say s*** like this the next you act like the victim here. This serves no purpose, and makes every one of your, "I just want good discussion", posts a big steaming pile of BS. Epstein and Cashman are only as good as the information they get, and I don't think either of them are brilliant baseball minds. The only guy that interests me in the Yankee FO is Michael. He's got a good eye for talent.
  4. Crisp is like Juan Pierre? IsoP (last 3 years) '04 '05 '06 Pierre .081 .078 .096 Crisp .149 .165 .121 Crisp has much better power. And, as is widely known, Crisp never recovered from his hand injury. He deserves another look after an offseason of surgery and rehab.
  5. It doesn't help that this year's draft is looking pretty deep with talent. Picking for the first time at the 80th or 90th slot will hurt. At least they have two consecutive excellent drafts to fall back on.
  6. Shoot a guy in the back? Pussy.
  7. Last 3 years.... Damon: 124 VORP, 0 FRAA Drew: 131 VORP, +12 FRAA VORP is playing time dependent and calculated from EqA, which incorporates the running game. FRAA is fielding runs above average. Oops
  8. Losing Manny means they won't score as many runs. Does that mean they can't win ballgames? Nope. They will just need to improve on the run prevention side of the game. Two of the bigger problems in that regard last year were a crappy tail end of the rotation and an even crappier OF defense. Both of those appear to be improving. To be honest though, I have no idea about how good they'll be because I don't know who they'll get for Manny. We can speculate, but that doesn't mean a thing. We won't know until we know. We also don't know who else they'll add via FA. I will say this, losing Manny won't kill this team. It will hurt them in one area, but it will also allow them to improve in other areas, becoming a more balanced ball club. If having the best 2-man combo in baseball were so important, why haven't the Sox won 3 in a row? Why did the White Sox win with nobody protecting Konerko, but couldn't make the playoffs with Thome and Dye playing like an MVP backing him up?
  9. I've got to say, that makes zero sense. Gruden, who seems to have the confidence of the owner still, likes a mobile QB, that's why he drafted Gradkowski. The problem with Bruce is that he has zero arm. Troy Smith looks like a perfect fit for Gruden's system, with a strong, accurate arm and plenty of mobility. No sense at all.
  10. I think your problem is that you think LTP and Win-Now are mutually exclusive. Young stud players provide both, but they are costly. Beckett had already cut his teeth, so they traded two maybes for someone who had proven he could play big league ball. The part in red is worded really strangley for someone trying to disagree with me. That's what I've been saying all along. They traded young for young, so while it didn't improve the LTP, it also didn't show the LTP to be a sham. And, Seabeach's comment that got me started was about Colon Cowpatty saying they were FOS about a LTP.
  11. Or that they misread the market. You guys can't have it both ways. They can't be total boobs for the bad trades they made last year, yet be bright enough for forsee the insanity that has hit the market this year. One or the other, but be consistent. This is why I get on your cases for baiting all the time. No matter what the situation, you always take the track that allows a greater degree of scorn, even if it contradicts what you scorned them for previously.
  12. What a bunch of babble? Do you really think the only thing that matters is the balance of the age of the players involved? That's assinine. I can't believe I just read that. What they did was skip the adjustment period for two good prospects in favor of an already established young player. Did it blow up in their faces? Sure has thus far, but if you don't see the long-term benefits of acquiring a player like Beckett at age 25, well, then says a whole lot about the "insight'' you will be providing.
  13. That went right over your head. The proof isn't in the results. When people say, "They can't really have an LTP if they give up Hanley", then they are being either disengenuous, or outright ignorant. The player received for Hanley was a 25 y/o fireballer with over 500 MLB innings logged. Sure, the guy is an immediate impact player, but due to his age, he's certainly part of an LTP. The only way that statement about Hanley holds merit is if the return is a vet on the tail end of his career who can provide only immediate value. EDIT: And, you really, really need to grow up.
  14. Thinking that Carpenter or Zambrano don't get extended by their current clubs is a collosal assumption. They are the cornerstones of the rotation for those clubs, who both have money, and who both are willing to spend it for key players. I would love the Sox to get a run at one of these guys with Schilling and Clement coming off the books, but I don't even have the slightest hope either of them will hit the market.
  15. Why do the trades that have been made give people the notion that any reference to a LTP are BS? Look at who was acquired. Beckett, Crisp, and WMP are all young players entering their prime age. The only one that didn't was the Return of the 'Belli trade, and the FO has admitted that was a foolish panic move.

  17. It was a joke. I didn't know you were so sensitive. All I can say is, if you are going to operate with the M.O. of being Contrary Mary, you know, where you oppose everything the Sox do just for the sake of opposing, then you need a little thicker skin.
  18. Damn, not the every other year is a bad/injured year rule?!? His '05 injury was a random accident not chronic. Do you really get off predicting injuries for our players? Seems like you can't refrain from it. Keep hoping.
  19. It happened with Ichiro, so it wouldn't surprise me if every teams' post amount included a provision for this kickback. Here's to hoping your cpu goes apeshit and you can't share your addled thoughts anymore.
