  1. It usually does. It also made sure ARod didn't get up with runners on.
  2. Dukes has a hose too. Almost got Phelps on a decently deep sac-fly. Delmon threw a seed to get someone at home over the weekend. That combo in the OF will make you think twice about running.
  3. Small ballin' with that lineup down 3 in the 3rd?
  4. Hey, what do you know, the regular rotation plays merry go round too. It's going to be a long season.
  5. Both catchers hitting, which is nice.
  6. http://us.movies1.yimg.com/movies.yahoo.com/images/hv/photo/movie_pix/walt_disney/remember_the_titans/kip_pardue/titans.jpg It makes you wonder. How does someone throw a football with such long fingernails?
  7. It's not wishing. I'll change my tune when he shows something other than his one good pitch and when he starts missing bats. Until then, I'm siding with 100 years of history, not the hopeful anomaly.
  8. It's a good sinker, but it's all he has. Comparing him to a closer just doesn't work. Rivera's the best ever for one inning, but I question his effectiveness 3 times through an order. Wake's one pitch is the knuckleball, and his success is as variable as the pitch is. There's no consistency to it, which is why when it's on it works. Lowe mixes in 3 pitches.......and, all three strikeout twice as many or more per 9 (roughly). Webb and Lowe both had a higher GB/FB last year. As you know, the history for guys who miss bats as seldomly as he does isn't good. Success can be had, but it hasn't been attained in 100+ years of baseball history, and to be honest, I don't think his sinker is so good it will make him the first ever.
  9. And this shall rule the day. http://whitesoxpride.mlblogs.com/photos/uncategorized/knuckleball.jpg
  10. Mine's a bit different. Matsuzaka learns from this outing, doesn't plunk anyone, and turns in QS on the way to an easy win since the bats are good in YS and the Yankee starter won't put up much resistance. Igawa confuses the Sox bats in his first game against them and pulls a Gustavo Chacin for the win. The magical mystery tour for Wang as a one-pitch wonder ends this year as the Sox win a slugfest that comes down to bullpens.
  11. I'm sure Gameday Audio at MLB.com archives them for downloading. I don't know what the cost is, but it shouldn't be much for one game on the radio.
  12. It was a lucky play. Whenever you are rounding the next base with your head down while the guy is 2' from catching the ball, with no outs, you are wrong. I have a feeling Cano will eventually turn into Robbie being Robbie, just without the HOF bat that Manny has.
  13. Hollywood is lucky that ball didn't get caught. Cano has a boatload of talent, but nothing between the ears.
  14. Who said that? Who the f*** said that? Who's the slimy s***, twinkle-toed, ********** that just signed his own death warrant? http://www.141empire.com/images/cinema/inyourface.gif
  15. Company has left. Gameday is off. ESPN on. When did the Yankees pick up Pvt Pile as a pitcher?
  16. 0-2, 2 Ks since the chin music. Dice-K is another Petey. Swagger, balls....where's his midget?
  17. I've had company over, so no posting, but I've got some news. Researchers at CERN and FermiLab have decided that the next goal of quantum small particle research should be to discover and determine the Abreu strikezone. Preliminary calculations speculate, with 95% confidence, it is on the order of one wavelength of neutrino oscillation in a vaccum. Have fun kids.
  18. Were you watching a rebroadcast of last year? His statline wasn't splendid, but his performance was. He's one bloop away from a 2 ER performance. Given the way he pitched and the type of contact he got all day, I'll take his performance against that lineup 10 times out of 10. Kind of like his first two times up where he went 2-2 with a 2B? Call me crazy, but when a guy has ripped off two solid hits in his 1st two ABs, that may be in the pitcher's head. And now the s*** shoveled gets really thick. Brilliant? Every inning after Karstens was a disaster waiting to happen. Seven base runners in 3 2/3.
  19. http://www.crapmachine.com/images/poop.gif http://it-light.net/images/uploads/GOM_player_logo.JPG Oh yeah, one more thing. Win.
  20. I won't worry with Donnelly against the weak hitting AL West and the lighter halves of the AL Central and East, but I'll be every bit as worried about him as would be for Timlin against NYY, CLE, CWS, and DET. I agree with a700. The bully has been great so far, but Papelbon is the only guy I have no fear with. Jima, after the last two outings, is approaching a similar, albeit not as absolute, comfort level. I think this BP has a chance to be good, especially since the rotation looks like it can get deep into a great majority of the games, even against good teams. I stood up for it on those premises earlier after Jackson's homer predictions had them as a bottom of the league bully, but I'll need to see some continued success before I think it's truly a league leader. Could be, but time will tell.
  21. Bowden settles in after a rocky 1st that saw him give up 3 H, 1 BB, 2 R, 0 K..... Final Line: 5.1 IP, 7H, 2R, 2BB, 4K Rates: 1.71 ERA, 8.14 K/9, 2.57 BB/9, 7.71 H/9, 0.42 HR/9
