  1. Well, if JV is going to hit with the sacks full, hitting righty is the way I want it. He could put it away here.
  2. Gabbard looks excellent. Again. This is not the crummy Royals either. The Chisox season stats are pretty grim, but they've been on fire in July. Kid is making quite a statement.

  5. Not even a little surprising.
  6. That is when you want to K if you are going to make an out, WMP. The guy just has no baseball IQ. It wouldn't surprise me to find out he was a drooling idiot.
  7. Cue the Benny Hill music.
  8. Well, it's not like Kennedy is wrong. With the offense being erratic like it has been, taking the most productive hitter out isn't the recipe for success. There are still 60+ games to play. A 6 game lead isn't anything to rest easy on with that much season left.
  9. Does Matsui have fleas? He's got a weird tick where he kind of shakes his lead shoulder when he's in the box. The only thing it reminds me of is how a dog's skin will twitch when it has fleas.
  10. Nixon, Varitek, Ortiz, and Ramirez all got hurt because Damon and his magic healing powers weren't here.
  11. I don't get why a team wouldn't want Lowell. I'm sure nobody is looking at him long-term, but there's some value there. He's already publically stated that he won't sign a one-year deal after this season, so an offer of arbitration doesn't carry much risk that he will accept it. He'll be a type-A more than likely after the last two years, so he's a half year rental that will get the team that acquires him a 1 (or 2) and 1s.
  12. A .750 team when he scores a run? What a s*** stat. First of all, the correlation is weak (.39), and even if you had correlation it doesn't mean causation.
  13. I too hope he is a starter in the Yankee outfield for years to come.
  14. And Abreu is the answer for pop? By statistical record, Drew is the guy with more pop. He's had a s***** year, but he's your answer
  15. I'm surprised nobody picked this up yet. Commence the circle jerk...... link My guess is that the everyday starter is Youk, who sat tonight, the bench player is WMP, hence the Kielty rumor, and the MiLB pitcher is Bowden. Who's onboard?
  16. No real-time update tonight? Interesting.
  17. There's some chatter about Gammo's recent story that references a possible Boras influence. Apparently, Boras has his own developmental staff for things like nutrition, conditioning, and mechanics. The overall theme is, several young pitchers he represents, Hansen, Hochevar, Pelfrey, and others, have changed their mechanics contrary to what the organization is teaching. The general reasoning is that Boras is teaching them something that will prolong their careers, even if it impacts their performance, because OK pitchers who can go forever make more than those who are good but get hurt out of the gate.
  18. Here's the breakdown: 1st Order - Pyth based on actual RS/RA 2nd Order - Pyth based on EquivalentRS/EquivalentRA - component performance 3rd Order - Pyth based on AdjustedEqRS/AdjustedEqRA - park/opposition effects considered The Yankees are closer to their Equivalents than the Sox, thus they are closer in 1st Order. If you like the predictive value of 1st Order, then you should like the other two also because they give a more accurate prediction.
  19. I missed where that was part of the discussion. I think you keep bringing it up for your own benefit.
  20. Not 3rd order, which BP does. They run the adjusted EqRS and EqRA based on rate performance, and by that we should be 6 ahead. You are only 6 below your EqR performance, we are 46 runs lower than where we should be for RS.
