    Never heard of this before. Got a link? What's interesting is the loophole being utilized here. It's tampering if a front office negotiates with a player before they become a FA. However, the group negotiating doesn't own the team yet, so Levine's complaint won't hold water, and I'm disinclined to think MLB does anything to stop this. What is essentially happening is the prospective owner is trying to assess how competitive they can be, vital information to a potential owner. I don't think the MLB will do anything to dissuade them from performing this type of pre-purchase investigation. Clubs getting sold is good for MLB because it sets new equity levels.

    Does anyone notice the similarity between Tony Homo and Grossman? All the things Grossman gets ripped for, throwing off the back foot, winging it, throwing across his body, etc, Homo does these things every series and gets away with it. It's really strange, and all the media cares to report is his undrafted status.

    I can empathize with See Red. Gibbs two attempts to stuff it in from the 2 at the end of the game were kind of pathetic. Very vanilla play calling, which, when you get down to the bottom of it, is Gibbs all the way. Which is part of the reason they came back in the 2nd half. When he has a lead it's, run, run, pass, punt.

    "This one time, at band camp...." So Carmona won't be an asset for the Tribe because he blew a couple of saves last year? Well, what does that mean for ARod in the playoffs? He's been horrible for two years straight. I think you'll find if you apply these moronic baseballisms appropriately to the entire Yankee roster, you can make a case for them getting no-hit for 3 straight games. I mean, I saw Melky strikeout 4 times in a game this year, so he won't get a hit, and I saw him give up an IPHR to Nixon on a misplayed ball two years ago, so he'll hurt you in the field, might as well leave him off the roster. Of course, I don't think any of these things have any bearing on what we'll see the week after next, but at least you gave us something to have fun with.
