  1. Hey, if they build a statue of him, it will be like he never left.
  2. Nice, eliminate all the rest of the stuff that goes into winning a baseball game and just focus on what you like.
  3. Yeah, keep that guy around.
  4. It wasn't "clutch" enough.
  5. This post reaches all 7 levels of suck.
  6. Did the Royals tell Butler that ball was covered in chocolate sauce?
  7. From what I've seen since Lugo went down, Lowrie can hang at SS. Now we need to work on CF and C, and we'll be set up the middle for a little while.
  8. I get the sense Ortiz is sulking about Manny being traded. He looks totally disinterested out there. Maybe it's just me.
  9. Only two more years after this year, which is 75% done.
  10. And your standard for comparison remains a bad one. The run scoring environment of the game changes over time, and from year to year. How good an offense is should only be compared against their peers in a given year. That is, if you are trying to assess their strengths relative to the league, which is the point in determining where to spend resources. Now, if you want to get into an interesting comparison of offenses across eras, then you can start harkening back to specific lineups. But that is not how you determine if your offense is "good" or "bad".
  11. Pre-2005 would rock. He put up two .860+ seasons in '03 and '04. Well played.
  12. Why is Lowell batting before Bay again? It would help if this manager realized Lowell has been a pit of suck lately and not have him up after the guys that are capable of getting on base.
  13. Yeah, he should really change his approach, it's obviously not working.
  14. I still giggle at the correct pronounciation of Hochevar's name.....ho shaver.
  15. I don't care about the fights on the field. I can stand them winning a few games. But when you get 9th inning heroism from Gabe Gross more than once a decade, that's where I draw the line.
  16. Mujica gives up a homer to Gross. 7-7, no outs. I'm starting to hate Tampa.
  17. Is the Tribe's closer position cursed? No matter who they try out there, the results aren't good. Mujica hanging on by a thread in Tampa. Comes in for the 9th up 3, two straight doubles, one on, none out, 7-5. Stop sucking.
  18. The question isn't, "Has Clay mastered AAA?", at least I hope it isn't. No, the question is, "Does Clay give us the best opportunity to win?". Not sure about that. In each of his last 3-4 starts there have been reasons to be encouraged. That said, there have been reasons to be disappointed as well. Hitters seem to see the ball very well out of his hand, because if he makes a mistake, it's getting hammered. At the same time, he doesn't seem to tip his pitch at all because his offspeed stuff is so effective. He needs to spend the winter trying to be able to locate his FB inside a soup can nailed to a board. He gets command of his FB and he'll dominate.
  19. Lars has been eating his wheaties this week. 2 games, 2 hr AA line - .327/.403/.531 Stud.
  20. Were the pitches where Gameday showed them? Gameday had the 1-1 and 2-1 closer to the middle of the plate than the edge and above the knee.
  21. I'm not trying to insult you as an MD, I'm sure you are very good at what you do. I am trying to draw attention to the fact that no matter how credible you may be on medical issues due to your training, that your every utterance about baseball injuries needs to be taken with a grain of salt and to examine the uniforms to see how honest it might be.
  22. Winston Wolf: "Let's not start sucking each other's dicks just yet." I'd be more proned to think Ellsbury found his stroke if he hit the ball with some authority. He's been on base twice tonight because the ball was placed well. I'm rooting for the kid, want him to do well, but I've been more encouraged in some of his 0-4 games where he hit the ball better but right at someone.
