  1. My and a700's fate are in the hands of David Wright. He leads me 5-4, with a 2 RBI edge. He leads in ERA. So if Wright has 2 RBI or less, a700 wins, 3 or more and I win. Hamels vs. Santana.
  2. Rotoworld's blurbs should be taken with serious grains of salt. f***ing cinder block sized ones. I picked up Courtney Taylor when they predicted him to be the WR1 in Seattle while Engram and Branch are out with injury. 2 catches, 17 yds. They have Ginn Jr as the WR1 too. Their combined 2 pts, along with Cooley's goose egg are hurting this week.
  3. Wow, didn't realize this was his debut as a starter. Five more outs.
  4. I'm off to the Disney Fantasy on Ice. I'll be pissed if I have to sit through a couple of hours of Cinderella on ice skates and then have to come home to a loss, so win.
  5. 27:2 That can't all just be chasing, can it? That's night and day from what he was doing in Boston. Is that the reversion back to the mechanics that worked, or is it just his confidence, or both? It's ponderous.
  6. Beckett's two playoffs also happen to have occurred in years he was throwing very well. He's struggled a bit this year. His "big game" billing will either take a hit or be cast in stone depending on how he fares this year.
  7. I don't know. Don't get me wrong, he's a big reason for the success they've experienced to date. I just have a hard time saying it's all him. I think he brings needed balance to Theo's penchant for shopping the MLB scrap head and hoarding his prospects. If it's all LL, you end up with the '97 all-star squad, like the Yankees. If it's all Theo, you end up with the Marlins. Perhaps this is a bit of hyperbole, but I think you get the point. I don't think either is particularly good exclusive of the other.
  8. You really ought to read Feeding the Monster. Not saying you are wrong in your assessment, but it will give you an idea of how in-sync Henry and Epstein are on the direction of this team. If he's in baseball next year, he'll be here.

I thought they "laid back" all game. Not laid back in the sense that they didn't apply pressure through their blitz scheme, as they did that all game. To be honest, I wouldn't call it laying back, more like leaning forward. Due to Campbell's tendancy to take what they give underneath, every member of the secondary was keyed on jumping into the play once he threw short. This was a very good strategic call from the Giants coaching staff. Campbell better get used to the pathetic 4.5 Y/Att, or whatever it was last night, because the book has been written on him. Teams will not respect 15 yds beyond the line of scrimmage until he starts making them pay for it.
  10. Hitting well with RISP, not putting people on base for free, and playing good defense are all things I'd call talents that can lead to winning baseball. They lack headline star power, but they play good baseball. How badly do you think they regret trading Santana right now? Making the playoffs, something they do if they keep him, and getting the comp picks at the end of the year has to look good in comparison to choking down the stretch and watching the return they got struggle.
  11. For a while there, when things were going good, they had the highest BA with RISP (they still may). That helps. They don't walk people, and play excellent D. All three together isn't a bad mix.

I thought they looked pretty ill-prepared too. They dicked around and wasted a lot of time there in the 4th. Of course, that was compounded by "I'll take the under" Campbell. I thought a WC offense might be good for him because of his inaccuracy with a deep ball. He doesn't make the quick reads though. If he doesn't progress through the season, they need to draft a QB (no Dan, don't trade more f***ing picks for a stiff 1 year from retirement). EDIT: And I don't think Colt Brennan counts. Pretty unimpressed with Zorn, too.
  13. Minnesweepta? The Twins are quickly falling out of the race. 9-0 Jays, tonight.

Campbell is trying his hardest to give Colt some playing time later this year. The guy just can't throw the ball down field. He either lacks the ability or the sack to try something, but everything is underneath. Yo, numbnuts, they give you the 8 yard route on 3rd and 15 because it won't get a first down and that's where they want you to throw it. This shouldn't even be a game. If Coughlin had half a brain he exploits how open Burress is on every play and steps on the throat in the first half. His play calling was very vanilla and is the only reason the Skins have a shot at "anything can happen" in this game. If I'm a Giants fan, that concerns me a little.
  16. Well, while I'd like to inch a little closer to TB, it's not like another nail in the Yankee coffin is a bad thing.

Impressive start for NY. Plax owns the field right now.
  18. Start time is up to the home team, as it impacts their revenues. When you can only get 25K to show up to a meaningful game against a division contender in Sept, you need all the help, ie first pitch is after Joe-fan gets home from work, you can get. Let's not pretend like this only happens to the Yankees. Both NY and BOS are big road draws. They both put up with this whenever a west coast road trip comes on the heels of a road series back east.
  19. You don't see correlation between shoulder tendonitis on the heels of increased workload for the shoulder?
  20. Snider singled a guy home from 1st (with a throwing error) to tie it on Nathan, 4-4. Snider in scoring position with 2 out.
  21. Yeah, whoops.
  22. Water.
