  1. If you add Peralta and Hardy, you have all 6 that beat him in VORP this year (with Aviles trailing 37.5 to 35.0 in only 66% of the plate appearances). Derek Jeter will probably still hit .300-ish going forward, and he'll probably still get on base at a .375-ish clip, both of which are valuable, but the pop he's lost is unlikely to return. He's certainly not likely to be a top-5 offensive SS moving forward.
  2. Don't know who he was throwing to the first few weeks, but the true freshman Green has been his primary target the last two. That kid is a prototype receiver. Big, tall, fast, good hands.
  3. Really? The statistical case doesn't favor your argument, but that could just be Stoops' system. I like Stafford. He's got a really good arm and he can make all the tough throws. Deep outs, the hard seam between levels, you name it. To be honest, I've had the Sooners on the tube in the background a couple of times on the weekend, but I never stopped what I was doing enough to pay attention to Bradford, so I couldn't tell you about how I think he looks. So, the only comp I can make is on paper, and it's not close.
  4. They weren't heralded as much going into the season, but the Longhorns have looked good against those they should have looked good against. The Red River Shootout on October 11 will be an event again this year (provided both can take care of business this weekend).
  5. Seriously. Jacko may be a doctor in real life, but his "medical opinions" regarding the Sox are so transparent he appears more like a voodoo witch doctor, particularly when you see the medical optimism dripping from his posts about Yankee injuries. Bottom line is, nobody on this forum has access to Beckett or his medical records, so nobody will know the degree to which this will affect him until first pitch on Sunday. The filler from both sides until that day is just hopeful bluster.

Is Royal returning punts/kicks? He did last year for VT, and he was pretty good at it IIRC.
  7. The depth at the #4 slot is an option between Jered Weaver and Jon Garland. Meh, I can see why they didn't have ants in their pants to "take advantage" of that "depth". Heavy mismatch? More like heavy flow day for Jacko. I think they chose the scheduling option that they did because it allows the back of their bullpen, the real strength of the pitching staff, pitch in all 5 games without a concern about lack of rest.
  8. 105-87 When was the last time you checked? Your post was at 7:30, so I figured you'd seen the score after the late games concluded. Forget to refresh the screen?
  9. Numnuts, you need 19 pts out of your defense to remain undefeated (and not lose to Kilo). It can happen, but I wouldn't bet on it against Philly.

Campbell still can't throw a good deep ball. That's 6 if he doesn't make Moss run through the sand at the end of that route.

Yeah, LJ went retro on them. 198 and 2. Although, he's backed up his request for more touches on the field. Since he went off on the playcalling, he's gone for 325+ and 3 in 2 games. That's excellent, even against bad NFL defenses.

Living out of market, this game for the Redskins against the Cowboys has been my first opportunity to see them since opening week against the Giants. I was reluctant to praise Campbell's efforts the last two weeks because, a) I hadn't seen him and the Cardinals and Saints aren't very good defensively. He's definitely looking a lot better. His reads are sharper, quicker and he's getting the ball to the receivers where they can do something with it afterwards, which is pure WC offense. Now, some of this may be the Cowboy defense, a unit I feel is overrated. They are decent against the run, and they get good pressure, but if you pick it up, they suck in coverage. Overall, I'm optimistic. And, holy s***, is this division tough.
  13. What a load of puffery? Any coincidence that Gom's new "mystery man" is the same guy his owner is dead set on getting? Sure, he's good, if he takes the field. I certainly hope he's the focus and they pass on Sabathia.
  14. This was my thought when I read Gom's post too. If he beats total scrubs per Gom's desire, is he really a 20 game winner? I thought the point was to win 20 real games. If it takes a gimmee to get him over the 19 win hump, then he's not really a 20 game winner, which is the tag he's trying to shed.
  15. What is "their setup"? Also, do they offer a premium league like Yahoo does?
  16. In the book Feeding the Monster, Manny's first request to be traded came during his initial meeting with new owner John Henry when he arrived for spring training in February 2002. From that start, it was an annual event. Did Mnookin get a direct quote from Ramirez for that? No, so I suppose it doesn't pass the "Did Manny say it?" standard. Mnookin's quote there was directly from Henry. I've never met the man, but he doesn't seem the type to engage in fabrications to make himself look good. Based on what I've read about the FO types, I'd put character assassination in Lucchino's bag of tricks.
  17. Still not over. Remember, the finals are 2 weeks folks. SFoC leads 7-3, but a couple of the categories are within reach over the final 3 games. Also, I made a mistake above when I listed the prize. I forgot that the whole league was paid for by Kilo with his SB Grid winnings. Therefore, the prize pool is $225 with no deduction for out of pocket cost incurred by the person who set it up (me). The prizes will be as follows: 1st place - $165 2nd place - $60
  18. Condensed version (similar to all other years): Sign the best two FA pitchers Sign the best FA position player Get a closer to accept setting up for Mariano Nothing new here.
  19. Sorry Gom, you were odd man out. We couldn't hold the draft with an odd number of teams, and as of last night there were only 10 signed up, so I closed it off because I would be traveling for business today.
  20. Reduced the # of teams from 12 to 10 since nobody else signed up and the draft is less than 24 hrs away.

Not me. I'd take Rodgers over him too.

How in the f*** do you call that on one side? The Cowboys are like the Yankees when it comes to the phantom call.
