  1. They were talking about this on the local sports radio on the way home last night. They have douche that "no s***" sounds like a duck quacking when he talks who is a huge NY honk, loves all their teams, and will excuse or rationalize just about anything for them. Even he eventually came around and realized this was a stupid rule because you just couldn't justify the enforcement of it. As a vet and American, I wish more people would show respect for things like GBA and the Nat'l Anthem. That said, there's not much to have pride in if they are forced to do it, which is contrary to what makes this country great.
  2. "Better" is your strawman. "Consistent" is the point made. Now, Crunch has said he'd bat Lowell 6th and Drew 7th because Lowell is more consistent, and I disagree. I go for the better player there. Nobody has addressed the point he made, however.
  3. No you wouldn't. This practically describes Pedro right before he left, and you still stomp your feet about them not bringing him back.
  4. Crunch said he was more consistent, not better. I haven't looked at the numbers, but he does have a point. While his OBP has been good all year, and I'm OK with that, his power surge was just 30 days long.
  5. SFoC, my dues hit the mail today, let me know if they don't show up by the end of next week. So, this isn't the only league I'm in. I'm doing two other Yahoo public leagues. Did I tell anyone how much I hate those? This one dude has like 4 WR (Colston, Welker, Coles, V. Jackson) and 6 RB (Jackson, Lynch, Taylor, Jones, Bush, K. Smith). So, he's a little light on the back-end of his WR corps and light on depth at a position requiring 3 to play each week. I happen to have a deep WR corps (Owens, Burress, Cotchery, Bowe, Meacham, Galloway), so I offer him Galloway for Kevin Smith. I figure that's a fair trade. He gets a solid producer at a position of weakness for him and he gives up an unproven rookie who will have to breakout like AP, which he isn't doing, to get some playing time on his roster. Predictably, he counters, because that's how these things go, but look at this s***. Terrell Owens for Reggie Bush. This s*** just isn't fun with strangers. EDIT: Don't get me wrong, I love fantasy sports, so while the public leagues are frustrating, I do enjoy them, or, they at least give me a "fix" of more FFB.
  6. The 2-2 has been a strike all game, for both sides. That said, walking Ivana is pretty bad. He swings at everything.
  7. I'd rather Masterson, who is very tough on RHH, face ARod than have Oki face Nady.
  8. Varitek's arm is not particularly strong, I'd send him. And, in that scenario, you have Oki facing Nady, a RHH and one of their hottest hitters, with a runner on.
  9. Cora didn't give me enough time to quip about his suckiness before he made an out. Pretty smart, maybe even genius.
  10. Also, ARod can steal a base. Why put him on when he can get into scoring position?
  11. That's funny? Can you recall a time you've called for Papelbon before the 9th without a lead?
  12. Why they weren't busting him up and in makes no sense to me. First base is open, if you hit the sweathog, no big deal.
  13. On what planet is the second pitch to Kotsay a strike? Jesus, the impossibly wide plate is getting wider.
  14. His posting was as of the 3rd inning. I stopped at the 3rd inning.
  15. Site the batter and inning, because I just went through each, and I count one pitch off the plate called a strike to Jeter in the 3rd.
  16. I'll check a site that logs pitch f/x data later to confirm, but according to the gameday location relative to the strikezone, Mussina has received 6 gift strikes completely off the plate. This doesn't even address the more subjective high and low strikes. This is consistent with every game I've followed of his on gameday. This f***er's "renaissance" season isn't possible without the Maddux strikezone.

Yeah, but he's not going to be playing tennis. He's a defensive player, and a pass-rush LB to boot. He gets blocked low and is in the pile dozens of times a game. This is a bit more than the strain of dealing with his body motion.
  18. A RF with a sack catches that ball, he pulled up anticipating the wall, and the funny part is the wall still owned him.
  19. Abreu. The wall. LOL.

Don't know. I'm not sure if ligament tears heal. I always thought they required surgery to repair the attachment.
