I disagree. They've got him where he can continue to work on his main flaw, a tendancy to K a lot.
He's a year away. Figgins is 31, and his main asset, speed, will start to decline soon. He's a career .744 OPS player manning a CIF spot. That won't last. Wood will push him into the role he really should be in, utility player / pinch runner.
As far as a ticking clock goes, he's got options this year and next. He's on the 40-man roster, so he's protected from the Rule V draft. They have time with him.
That said, I'd trade the overrated Figgins to a foolish team right now, and let Wood adjust his game to the ultimate level.
