  1. Depends. If he struggles significantly in April, then I think he's back in the BP by May, because that is Cooks option up deadline. If he looks promising and Doubront is struggling, I think he might stay in rotation a bit longer. This is what I think happens. I'd prefer the stay the course on the starter project and make a move.
  2. Thats true of the recent years they have missed the playoffs, but it's far from the universal trend.
  3. Fred, I think you've hit on something that I've been thinking about for awhile and I've seen very little discussion about. I think the short stack of resources given to the young, rookie GM is indicative of the risk the upper management recognizes going into the season. They can't get hit with a bunch of injuries, and even if they don't, some very large question marks need to come up positive for this team to have the look of an October contender. The contingency is thin. With that being the case, I think any mid-season spending is absolutely dependent upon good early results. A poor April/May, and I think upper management packs it in for the year with sights set on 2013. If things go their way, I'm confident they'll be active addressing what they need for the stretch run and playoffs. Also, remember, there is some built-in roster supplementation for the 2nd half as of right now. Matsuzaka, Hill, and Bailey will be there to bolster the pitching down the stretch.
  4. Has anyone in the media checked to confirm that they did, indeed, change the medical staff on this team? It baffles the mind how totally blundering they have been in recent years, especially when you consider the amount invested that relies on the health of the employees. The medical issues reported during this ST makes it seem like the new crew will provide no improvement.
  5. How did I report you behind your back?
  6. You haven't reported any of it? How about the multiple times in the past you've accused me of violating the TOS out in the open. That doesn't count as reporting to you? Not only is it reporting me as the mods will surely see your public complaint, but it's being broadcast, which kind of ups the stakes, IMO. I'm only following the lead you established back then, when you implored people to stop with the personal stuff. I haven't gotten personal with you or insulted you today, but my patience is wearing thin. Was your request many months ago legitimate?
  7. Absolutely. I'll give you credit for one thing, though. You are remarkably consistent in your ability to call it "different situation" when your posts have you talking on both sides of an issue.
  8. Actually, in your case, I assumed consistency, that you don't like giving roles to rookies. Where you called me confrontational was in my discussion with iortiz, where I noted inconsitency.
  9. Of all the pitchers in the BP to fill in for Bailey, I like his makeup the most for this role. His stuff? We'll see.
  10. Well, there is no "ass donut" to inflate. I take the pain with a side of fava beans and a nice Chianti.
  11. They all represent the same inherent risk of underpeformance and/or injury regardless of position. When they have experienced failure, and they should "learn from the past", one should expect a conservative approach to future signings. This is what we are seeing.
  12. How am I wrong, my question is still unanswered? I didn't ask what you would have done, I asked if you would be OK with a rookie as DH instead of Ortiz, because I think that is the clear course of action they would have taken if they let Oritz go. Is it so difficult to answer the question? Don't be a phony. This is BS after the nastiness you posted above.
  13. They are absolutely the same types of signings. Papelbon has a known shoulder subluxation in his past. He's not perfectly clean in the health department. You demanded they learn their lessons from their previous bad signings. This is the what happens when they learn their lessons. They avoid them for a while. They get conservative. This is what you asked for.
