  1. http://soxblog.projo.com/2009/02/spring-training-34.html J.D. Drew is still having back issues, but says he believes he can "play through the pain this season" The Sox do have the right to void his contract after the season, but I believe its only if his shoulder is in bad shape
  2. http://soxprospects.com/players/johnson-kris.htm He just had a respectable season in Double A, posting a 3.63 ERA in 27 starts. His stock was hurt in 07 when he pitched & failed in Lancaster, the key word is Lancaster. Its a pitcher's nightmare to have that as a home ballpark
  3. http://www.fannation.com/si_blogs/hot_stove/posts/50242-angels-sign-santana-to-four-year-extension Angels lock up Ervin Santana for 4 years/$30 million http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/baseball/2009/02/14/2009-02-14_mets_add_to_crowded_rotation_competition.html Mets sign Livan Hernandez to a minor league deal
  4. Who knows how Mike Lowell will be around then? Ditto for Ortiz and Drew. Though I am expectinbg Ortiz to have a bounce back year. He is in his walk year and Im sure he wouldnt take the Brian Giles route to not submit to a bench role for a contending team. Something along the lines of Kris Johnson, and an extra prospect or 2 As I said before, its a wish because the Orioles would rather send him elsewhere. With 3rd base in the flux, the Brewers could be a player especially if they are contending
  5. The Red Sox and Orioles have been trade partners in recent past (Adam Stern for Javy Lopez, Alberto Castillo for cash considerations, David Pauley for Randor Bierd) Obviously Aubrey Huff would be more of a big deal. But he is in his walk year and Baltimore is almost a lock to finish in 4th place. Its just a wish of mine, but he'll be headed elsewhere to a team more willing to give up players
  6. Good guy to have around for the young arms
  7. At the trading deadline, Id like to see Theo get Aubrey Huff
  8. Lineup Jacob Ellsbury cf Dustin Pedroia 2b David Ortiz dh Kevin Youkilis 1b J.D. Drew rf (Tito seems to favor this spot for him) Jason Bay lf Mike Lowell 3b Jason Varitek c Jed Lowrie ss Bench George Kottaras c Jeff Bailey 1b Julio Lugo if Rocco Baldelli of Starting Rotation Josh Beckett Jon Lester Daisuke Matsuzaka Brad Penny Tim Wakefield Bullpen Javier Lopez Ramon Ramirez Manny Delcarmen Justin Masterson Takashi Saito Hideki Okajima Jonathan Papelbon
  9. Yes indeed, Beckett has come in better shape than last year... Brad Penny, not so much http://bostondirtdogs.boston.com/BDD_JB_ftmyers_21109_bgjd.jpghttp://bostondirtdogs.boston.com/BDD_BP_fort_21109_bgjd.jpg
  10. Same thing happened to Zack Greinke I believe, and he came back well Id say
  11. http://www.nypost.com/seven/02112009/sports/yankees/report__3_say_orza_tipped_off_rodriguez_154576.htm Report, 3 say Orza tipped off A-Rod in Sept 2004, while he was with the Yankees, about an upcoming drug test. There was concern that he was still on steroids
  12. http://www.latimes.com/sports/baseball/mlb/angels/la-sp-angels-abreu11-2009feb11,0,3022714.story Angels have reached an agreement with Bobby Abreu, 1 year $5 million with incentives. What a bargain. They will have a 5 man outfield of Vladdy, Hunter, Abreu, Matthews and Rivera
  13. More bad news for ARod. Next month Selena Roberts has herself a book... The Many Live of Alex Rodriguez-- Among other things it discusses the steroids, and terms of his sexuality
  14. http://bostonherald.com/sports/baseball/red_sox/view/2009_02_10_Testing_Rocco_Baldelli:_New_outfielder_won_t_rush_recovery_process/ Saito in camp did an 8 minute mound session. He threw 33 pitches, mixture of fastballs, curveballs and sliders. He felt fine afterwards To some players, the WBC is for the pride of their country (Sox FO is knowingly uneasy about Dice-K). Spring Training is nothing but practice as the players get prepared for the season
  15. Gom, how has he been through worse? Admitting to being a juicer is bigger than him cheating on his wife, or lack of hitting in October
  16. http://www.stltoday.com/stltoday/sports/stories.nsf/cardinals/story/32EA0199DADBAD4E86257558006575D7?OpenDocument Cards release 2B Adam Kennedy. I think they should sign Orlando Hudson
  17. Albert Pujols would be a big one for me
  18. Im more interested in when he has to show up for the WBC next month
  19. http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/9199590/A-Rod-huddled-with-Boras-amid-controversy lol A-Rod is relying on advice from Madonna's manager He went on a short trip to the Bahamas. From the WBC/spring training on, he and his team mates will be constantly asked about this
  20. Once he hits FA, he needs to head to the AL
  21. Last minute of today's game was brutal all around. Each time I looked over at the tv, Spurs were getting free throw shots. It had to be around 5 or so. Plus, 60 points given up in the 1st half? Yuck
  22. ok how about enough talk of how a guy pleasures himself
  23. Dont tell me that he's safe in his home park, because he is not. The Yankee fans get after him plenty
  24. Ditto, look what happened to Rafael Palmeiro playing for the Orioles. At one point he wore earplugs to try to drown out the boos. Any downward bump in offensive stats because of the stress he will have, the Yankee fans will be turning on him
