  1. Furcal a possibility of another Beantown vs Bronx bidding war, to go along with the imminent BJ Ryan battle?
  2. Bronson Arroyo is in that list as well most likely.
  3. it could be a deal for dave roberts and 3rd baseman Sean Burroughs. He doesnt hit for much power and RBI-wise, also bodes a .960 fielding %. Otsuka/Roberts stands out better by far.
  4. i wouldnt jump to the concllusion that Huff uses steroids, no reason to speculate him as a user. 2005 for Huff is looking just to be an off year that most players have he just had an off year in batting avg, i'll take his production he had done this past season: 22 HRs, 92 RBIs
  5. the pitcher in question could be the Padres setup man, Akinori Otsuka. But what a welcomed player Dave Roberts would be as the 4th outfielder/pinch runner
  6. oh yeah, myself im gunning more for huff to come to the Sox. Just got this great feeling he'd be a good fit to Red Sox Nation. He brings so much to the table
  7. a player in his 30's who is capable of 40+ HRs and 140+ RBIs, Id say yes very much so and even more. but thats not an issue with him still having 3 seasons left at $57 million, and he has said he will retire after his contract ends. He will be 37 years old at the time.
  8. what's taking georgey and the front office so long to resign Matsui? this will come around and bit them in the ass if matsui is not signed by that date. Its been said White Sox are interested if he becomes a free agent, plus theres a possibility of him going back to Japan.
  9. so you're thinking santana on the red sox staff for the whole 2006 season will win about or under 10 games just because Manny would be gone? I'm sorry but still not seeing credit where its due to david ortiz who's in the running for MVP, he more than manny had carried the team on his back from april to October. How many walkoff hits and HRs did Ortiz compile in 2005? And Manny? Vladimir even with a suitable bat behind him still was able to hit 30+ HRs and 100+ RBIs. Ortiz can easily do the same or even better than those numbers plain and simple. Its evident Ortiz is becoming more of a feared hitter than Manny, why else would they have started intentionally walking Ortiz to get to Manny? ---------------------------------- Anyways this deal is looking dead before getting started with "schillingisnatural" pointing out Gordon Edes reporting Manny or Garret won't take on DH duties for the Angels, so with them it could be ix-nay. Manny is said to still be contending to block a trade with the Mets. Odds are Manny will stay on board for 2006 and make 3 trade requests up to the next offseason.
  10. Manny was kept out by tito's decision mostly due to Fenway's faithful's dismay they showed manny after hearing he wanted to be traded again. July 31st being the trade deadline Tito also had kept him out of the game for Manny to avoid the media outlets and such. Yeah most of us had thought he had been traded away when we didnt see him in the lineup, hence the raucous standing ovation he had gotten when he all sudden came out of the dugout to pinch hit.
  11. i do believe that in the end, if a trade is done, it will involve players that havent even been discussed about. This hot stove talk about Manny for cameron and manny for santanna, etc. could be a diversion of what the sox's gm by committe is actually doing down in florida.
  12. I understand, I want Glaus too. but really wells and Shoppach would be worth at like $6 million. Since Arizona still owes $37 million to Glaus, they will require bigger players particularly those who can drive in runs, so they won't have to eat up a huge chunk of glaus' contract
  13. just what bugs me is that (1) Cameron only plays center, Damon only plays center which makes our JD the odd man out and on to another team, loss of one of the best leadoff hitters for a guy who holds a career .240 avg (2) What will Cameron be like from what happened this past summer? Did the collision make him into an injury prone player (3) Lastings Milledge would still have to start the season off in Triple A. Scouts have suggested he won't be fully ready until 2007. If such a trade happens, Brian Giles will be in the Sox's sights to fill in left field Sox would have to give up more than Wells and a prospect for Troy Glaus. He is still owed 3 seasons at $37 million, a reason why he has been mentioned in a manny trade
  14. i think clement likes facing the blue jays more than arroyo
  15. haha yeah i was about to say so, but you beat me on that one
  16. yeah he had made the July 31 start against the Twins, which was won by that event in the 8th inning where Manny came out to pinch hit to drive in the winning run. I was at that game, I never heard Fenway that loud.
  17. so do you actually think a trade of Manny for Cameron benefits both teams? for your team to get a .300 slugger who hits 40+ HRs and 140+RBIs a season; and sox get cameron... who will probably be injury prone now, is a career .240 hitter and has spurts of RBI production. Manny is worth $60 million and a future 1st ballot hall of famer, sorry but Mets have to compensate with a big player of their own
  18. i agree with you there whole-heartedly about cameron, real iffy about him. Manny is a $60 million player, so there does have to be a bigger player than Cameron in the deal. like David Wright perhaps. Myself, im gunning for the rumored Angels deal that would send santana to boston.
  19. dude please, dont even start. just about everyone has pointed out this is the worst it has been for the patriots in some time, and yes the secondary is depleted by injuries. the injury reserve is littered with 4 secondary players, along with matt light who was brady's main bodyguard, and backup running backs Pass and Faulk.
  20. how can they convince him with him having one of the biggest fan bases in boston so he know he is loved here; sox have 4 out of his 5 seasons made it to the playoffs; and the obvious being that he has his annually "im not happy, i want a trade" bit ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ big yes to Lastings Milledge. Though, I do agree about that having Cameron is iffy with how is health and play will be after we saw that terrible collision on the field. Johnny Damon has been having migraines since his collisoion in 03 and cant play that much in domed stadiums during the daytime. Plus he said in an interview that reason why he became the "caveman", is because haircuts and shaving werent any help to the migraines he has had. Petit is worthy looking at, a 20 year-old top pitching prospect from Venezeula. http://www.minorleaguenews.com/baseball/features/articles2004/fab50/062204.33.html http://sun10259.dn.net/baseball/features/articles2004/fab50/062204.38.html
  21. if Erstad is brought on board, i could see him rather being put in place of manny in left field, with the Aubrey Huff trade deal still a good possibility. But still the trades we see on the hot stove won't even happen most of the time. Sometimes ued as a diversion to cover up what trades are actually going down
  22. this was when Belichick had healthy and strong defenses particulary the secondary. my prediction, New England still wins the east, 10-6
  23. since Papelbon had made his majors debut in july this past season, does that put him out of the running for "rookie of the year" in 2006? Im thinking he'd viable to win that with all signs pointing to him having an important effect in the rotation
  24. i think the Sox are getting more tired of Manny's attitude and monthly trade requests that he does. By now dude, Im really getting tired of it. Now he's threatening he wont show up for spring training if he's not dealt. The White Sox proved you didnt have to have a lot of offense to win it all, its all about the pitching and defense. The Sox are setting in motion a bullpen and starting rotation that will be strong and durable.
