  1. Clement's next start is against Toronto at Fenway Park. Think he'll last throught next season? ugh
  2. if we didnt take lowell, no beckett whatsoever for us.
  3. If DiNardo has to pitch tonight in relief since the pen was used up in Cleveland, expect Matt Ginter from pawtucket to get a call-up. Ginter has had a good start in Triple A, in 4 starts he is 2-1 with a 2.35 ERA. Since he's not on the 40 man roster, Theo would have to make a move. http://www.boston.com/sports/baseball/redsox/extras/extra_bases/2006/04/dinardo_on_call.html
  4. I feel bad for Tampa Bay, they have to deal with the BoSox who have a major chip on their shoulder. Who wouldnt be after being outscored 22-4 their last 2 games? I expect the Sox bats to greet the D-Rays pitching staff this wknd. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  5. there you go again, saying that i disrespect Bill Mueller. All I said is that Youk would give stability in the 8 hole that Bill Mueller did. He's an OBP machine and has been getting timely hits
  6. umm ok, he faced Texas in Ameriquest Field. They are a very happy HR hitting team. 1 Run in 7 innings. They are one of the best offensive teams in the AL. Opening day he faced the Toronto Blue Jays at Fenway Park, 1 Run in 7 innings. They're pretty good too huh? His other start at Fenway came against Seattle, 1 Run in 7 innings. But I thought he's supposed to be bad each time in hitter's parks?? Beckett was hitting consistently 94-97 (couple of times 98), but the location was really off last night sometimes by big margins where tek had his glove and where the ball ended up. Youk, will be like Bill Mueller was at the bottom of the order. He gave stability in his 3 years as the #8 guy. Youk's OBP wasnt wasted because he doesnt just take his walks, he can get his hits and current leads the team in hits with RISP & RISP/2 outs. Mike Lowell will continue to hit # 7 and he is not an automatic out with his .300 avg. As long as he continues to drive the runners as he has been, he will get it done. HRs do heat up when the weather does or thats what I hear anyway.
  7. sorry but i know my stats. First 7 innings 2 runs (1 HR), then in the 8th inning he gave up the next 3 runs. Rough outings for pitchers are that they never get something going, Beckett lost it late into the game 9 Runs in 3.2 innings- Rough 5 Runs in 7.1 innings- yeah dont those 2 starts compare equally? boy I didnt see this one coming. Yankee fans are coming out in bunches after Beckett's first official bad start. Yep damn it you Yankee fans were right, he's going to be Jaret Wright/Carl Pavano for us. What a waste of a pitcher!! Yes we realize he's going to have his bad starts once in a while, but still will be confident in each of the starts he will make
  8. sorry but im not going to count him out for the season like you are so quick to do so. This is the first rough outing he's had, as in being knocked out before he could get anything going. His start against Toronto, he was cruising until the 8th inning giving up just 2 runs.
  9. My thoughts havent changed on Beckett after 1 rough outing, feel the same as I did after his first start. Hes gonna be good for 15-18 Wins, 3.70 - 4.10 ERA
  10. oh please, dont even try to contrast & compare. All in all Beckett is by far a better pitcher than Chacon is
  11. so Manny was called up because he was having success, huh? First 2 appearances, he hasnt shown a lick that he's worth having up here
  12. Cora against Byrd, 1 for 3 Gonzo against Byrd, 0 for 8 Besides, you're going to get the same offense from cora that you would from gonzalez.
  13. well goes to show ya something. Yes you are a yankee fan, but the only one flooding up our game threads. The other Yankee fans on here are respectable.
  14. Ive heard rumblings about Wade Miller, Keith Foulke, Arroyo, and even Mike Myers have had their way with her.
  15. even without bard's passed balls last night, it still wouldve been a loss. So also the Sox offense really have to start backing up Wake, he deserves better than 6 runs of support in his first 5 starts of the year.
  16. Wake has now received 6 total runs in his first 5 starts. And his next start is against the Yankees... you know he's asking "why me?"
  17. factor in: Wake is pitching (no run support, no Tek) + opposing lefthander on mound (no Trot) + most runners left on base in majors = what we are seeing tonight
  18. yea I mean really what has he done for the Red Sox? Those 131 career wins with the Red Sox, 3rd highest, all have been gift wins.
  19. Due to the lack of offense from Sox center fielders, look for Wily Mo to get some starts in that position. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Theo about last night's pitch count for Schilling: I do have great confidence in Tito's managing, but the 133 pitch count was out of line to say the least
  20. Man, feeling bad for AJ Burnett. Recent reports of the state of his elbow arent good. If he were to have surgery again, a chance it would be career-ending. http://www.thestar.com/NASApp/cs/ContentServer?pagename=thestar/Layout/Article_Type1&c=Article&cid=1146001827011&call_pageid=968867503640&col=970081593064&t=TS_Home
  21. Its not like the yankees are trotting out their best 2 pitchers at us at Fenway Wake vs Wang- could go either way, that being if Wake's run support continues Beckett vs Chacon- enough said Toronto, will be a 2 game series. Clement & DiNardo will pitch that series, unless Alavrez or Ginter are called up to replace Lenny in the rotation.
  22. Schilling: I love our bullpen. Everyone gives Rudy Seanez crap, but he's been outstanding every outing.
  23. I have no problem with him starting clean innings, but putting him out there with runners on has Sox fans wanting to cover their eyes.
  24. I dont care if Timlin got the last out, him looking shaky should knock some sense into Tito. Putting him out there with inherited runners is not smart, throw away the matchups or if there's already 2 outs. Dating back to last season, Timlin has allowed 19 of 35 inherited runners to score.
