  1. Trot being real about it
  2. True its not like Papelbon is the first starting pitcher thats been used initially as a relief pitcher in the start of his career. Besides I do believe Foulke is now little by little gaining back his 2004 form, and there's also Hansen who's tearing it up in the minor leagues. Papelbon will join the rotation, of course thats a given. If anything the closer role in the bigs is teaching him stronger mentality, how to get out of jams in close games, etc.
  3. actually Tek has brought his average to (.250) and currently enjoys a 7 game hitting streak--- 8 for 27 (.296 avg) Double, Triple, HR, 2 RBIs, 6 Runs, 5 Walks
  4. He's also now hitting .318, tied for tops in doubles, but yea as we all know he's in the downward of his career;) --------------------- All indications and reports are that Youkilis will be moved down to the 8 hole, as Ive said before it will give stability in the bottom of the order. After 6 starts, Schilling has a 2.88 ERA and has recorded 40 Ks in 40.2 innings pitched. He keeps it up, and will be hard argue to argue of him not being lights out all the time. Now dont get ahead of yourself and say Im comparing him to Pedro, what is evident that Schilling is just about at 2004 ace form.
  5. As a Sox fan, Im looking forward to the future debut of Hughes in the bigs. You guys are golden if he makes the type of start that Papelbon has been for us.
  6. hope you dont mind there, a correction. Game 1 will be Wakefield vs Wang. Game 2 will be Josh Beckett vs Shawn Chacon
  7. there's also David Cone, a former Yankee starting pitcher who was with NY for all World Series champs in the 90s... After 2000, he signed with the Red Sox... I still remember Yankee fans ripping him, let alone he was one of their best starters through that dynasty run.
  8. I was expecting them to draft a kicker
  9. I heard on WEEI that 2006 is the last season on Daniel Graham's contract, his past injuries probably played a part as well.
  10. whoa belichick has a RB in 1st round
  11. Josh Towers could be 0-5 at the end of a day with a near 10 ERA, demotion to the minor leagues is in the cards for him even if the Jays come out on top
  12. RJ hasnt been lights out against the Blue Jays since joining the pinstripes 2005 (3 starts) 0-2, 6.14 ERA 2006 (1 start) 0-1, 7 Runs in 3.1 innings
  13. well its not like last night was a blowout, I was alright with him trotting out his best reliief pitchers to give the struggling offense a chance to come back. Also like A700 said, Papelbon hadnt worked since Tuesday, he needs to get his innings in.
  14. the ERA is deceiving. The Sox by each start have him on a strict innings/pitch count. He's only lasting 3 or 4 innings, when they know he could go 7 or 8. No need to press the panic button
  15. thats the team total for DPs. Lowell is at 5 now for the season http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/players/6133/batvspit;_ylt=Ah.C5Us.xEb_Ybo0oq.TB1qFCLcF GIDP indicates when he hit into a double play
  16. actually its 5 (not 11), which does lead the Sox. Manny is next with 4. I dont blame this game solely on Lowell. I blame it on the top to bottom offense, and Clement who continues to look shaky and his next start is against Toronto.
  17. ?? this is not the first game that they have had a lot of base runners & left men on in one game. They lead the AL with 200 runners left on, something shouldve been picked up by now.
  18. 11 men left on base, close to a shutout at Tropicana Field, first one ever for Sox I believe looking like a 3 game losing streak, being outscored 27-4 Tomorrow- DiNardo vs Waechter (could go either way) Sunday- Schilling vs Kazmir (Schilling needs to be at his best for this one)
  19. Graffanino been pretty much the same as he was pre-2005, currently batting (.207) in his first 9 games of the season, 6 for 26
  20. so you actually think he's gonna be batting .200 for the whole season? Tek is batting .250, I think they need to move him down in the order also.
  21. true but then the Sox wouldnt have had the key bargaining chip needed to get Coco. Sacrifices must be made to get the guys you want (Beckett, Crisp)
  22. look at when Loretta was hitting second behind Coco, .438 avg in the first 6 games. Besides his succes as a contact hitter has come in the #2 hole. Youkilis gives stability in the #8 slot that Billy had given us in his 3 seasons.
  23. Ortiz, no complaints about him. He has been carrying this team, and is off to a better start than last season April 2005 (.256 avg) (.302 OBP) 7 HRs, 17 RBIs April 2006 (.294 avg) (.413 OBP) 9 HRs, 19 RBIs Manny yes, lets get it going
