  1. Eh after seeing numerous stats of his against NY, vs pitcher matchups... Im all set to see him become part of the rivalry
  2. Yea I think tomorrow (today rather) is Johnson's last start in a Sox uni. I could live with a Snyder stop gap start before Wake is so far set to retake the mound on the 27th.
  3. I actually like this move, if anything it will improve the bench with the addition of a strong lefty bat
  4. Sox/Yanks series Game 1, Johnson vs Wang... Edge NY Game 2, Lester vs Ponson... Edge Bos EDIT: Game 3, Beckett vs Johnson... pitching duel? nay Im thinking this will be a game of who can over-slug the other team Game 4, Schilling vs Mussina... now this is a real pitcher's duel, Schil comes out on top barely Game 5, Wells vs Wright... Edge Bos
  5. They are sold that Foulke could become their right-handed lefty specialist
  6. http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/news;_ylt=ArMCLE75gwm2pgbJ8GvltRARvLYF?slug=ap-bondssteroids&prov=ap&type=lgns
  7. He clearly stated that the pitching is holding the team together. Thats him drinking the kool-aid. If one thing he needs to call out the pitching staff more, including himself to just try & hold leads, starting rotation to go more than 6 innings, etc. etc.
  8. Whoah haha, this is what happens when I go out on night shift. Jaw-droppiing needless to say when I saw this in the new posts section. At least we dont have to worry about him against us, he has been a Red Sox killer EDIT: With Hinske, a left handed hitter & signed thru 07, I believe the Sox are starting to distance themselves even more from re-signing Trot. Also its been reported that Trot's infection has set back his return to early september.
  9. Just got back from work great to see Wells establishing himself as a reliable starter again for Boston. His last 3 starts, he has allowed 6 ER Coco... I do believe since the All-Star break we have seen the player that we expected to show up from day 1. Leadoff spot is his until otherwise. Hey he got that big hit too
  10. This is the same guy who has been ineffective as the 8th inning guy since coming back from the DL. I heard his interview today also on eei, the excuse of the boston media editing what he said cant be used. I hope Schilling & Papi push him up against the wall to give some insight on how it really is
  11. Trust me you wouldve been hearing up to date info if Clement was set to come back next month, we're hearing crickets for a reason. The Sox are looking forward to a September rotation of: Schilling Wakefield Beckett Wells Lester Clement has proven nothing that the Sox can rely on him. His frown/disgusting slow pace when there are runners on; his 2nd half implosions; and ah yes his memorable playoff start (worst ever for a Sox pitcher in that round)
  12. Day off 5 game series vs New York 3 game series at Angels 3 game series at Mariners 3 game series at Athletics 4 game series vs Blue Jays 3 game series vs White Sox That is not a favorable schedule for the near future, everyone has to step up in big ways. Oh and with Wake expected to return on the 27th... Jason Johnson will stay in the rotation for 2 more starts
  13. Clement? By all accounts he has been quietly shut down for the rest of the season. Tito shys away from questions about his status. Even if he does come back, I cant count on him winning a game in Pawtucket, let alone a quality start up here. The favorable schedule you speak of is after their brutal stetch of playing contending playoff team one after another through early September (includes 9 game road trip)
  14. Sox/Yankees Boston/New York Hands down the Biggest rivalry in the history of sports
  15. heres a more detailed quote from the Boston Herald. He really believes the pitching staff, not the offense, is getting it done. Keep drinking that kool-aid, at least Schilling speaks truthfully While Michael Silverman does point out that last 6 defeats, the Sox have lost by a total of 9 runs... just maybe thats because of the Sox bullpen/starting pitching blowing leads or tacking on runs for the opposing teams in the late innings. The Sox cant always have walkoff wins
  16. I really dont have that much of a strong objection to the trade for Javy Lopez (catcher). He's just a 2 month rental who cost us a 4th/5th outfielder in Adam Stern. With more playing time his offense is starting to gel nicely. IMO its a lot better solution than Belli/Huckaby holding the reins for a month or so First 3 games 0 for 10, 2 Ks Last 5 games 7 for 17, 3 Doubles, 4 RBIs, 2 Runs
  17. With all the struggles the Sox have had against the Jays last season, 2 pitchers have not faced them yet this season... Schilling & Wake. Which of course were, I believe, the best 2 starting pitchers the Sox had in the first half.
  18. Timlin after non-chalantly letting the go-ahead run score in his lone inning of relief, couldve been a lot worse if not for Wily Mo getting an assist at 2nd base redsox.com Wait, what?... the pitching staff is throwing the balll really well right now? Im gonna have to call ******** on that, sorry Mikey
  19. Sorry just entitled to my own opinion The Yankees were counting on RJ to rehash 2005 results. Mussina the past couple seasons had been on a downward slide, Pavano's still hurt from anything, Wright was mediocre, and Wang is going into his sophmore season. $17 million on an established pitcher who's expected to be the ace but instead has become the #3 pitcher with an ERA above 5 would be disappointing to any team. Even still johnson is still showing to be erratic. With Beckett its all about gorwing up in the AL now, he needs to listen to everybody who is willing to help
  20. A lot more was counted on RJ than it was for Beckett this season RJ- $16 million, ace of the staff Beckett- $3.5 million, #2/3 pitcher
  21. He has the worst percentage of allowing inheriting runners to score, and 1st batters to reach. Id say thats awful stats
