  1. http://us.i1.yimg.com/us.yimg.com/p/sp/getty/7f/fullj.189683485bf2070eb7a2f814b129a3b8/189683485bf2070eb7a2f814b129a3b8-getty-d034545048.jpg Just so shocking. When I was having my lunch, watching ESPN and then breaking news came on that Joe Kennedy is dead at 28. I literally spit out my soda i was drinking. My heart goes out to his family, especially his 1 year old son never getting the chance to really know his father. God all this amidst the holidays as well. At least if it was an aneurysm, he didnt feel anything. That happened to my friend's mom. Rest in peace Joe Damn in the span of 2005-07, 3 major league pitchers have died. Cory Lidle, Josh Hancock, Joe Kennedy
  2. Nope, as teams in need of center fielders watch the free agent options dwindle... theyll come calling to Theo with intriguing trade options. He might even be part of a proposed package to nab Santana
  3. I really dont care about that trade anymore. Yankees got Abreu for 3 years, while the Sox got to see Drew hit a big grand slam (Game 6) as they came back 3 games to 1 against the Guardians. I find it hard to believe that Drew will be what he was during the 07 season for the rest of his contract. From September on, he reignited his batting and was a big force in the lineup. A potential 20 HR/75+ RBI type season isnt out of the question for 2008
  4. Hunter is going to be the starting center fielder. Matthews will rotate in both corner outfield spots and as the DH
  5. True not the kind of impact Ellsbury had in 2007 (once in a blue moon s***), even still a good followup to Lowrie's past season should get the Sox shopping Lugo by year's end Lowrie has the same batting presence as Ellsbury/Pedroia. He makes the pitchers work, tough to strike out, has potential to be consistent .300 hitter. He has solid gap power. Last season he had 47 Doubles, 8 Triples and 13 Hrs (Thats 68 XBHs). On defense he's rated as average. But with more age and experience, has gotten better over the past year
  6. I could def live with that lineup If Jed Lowrie continues his rise, and has an Ellsbury 2007 type of year... the 9 hole and shortstop could be his by the end of the 08 season
  7. Mr. Linebrink, U.S. Cellular Field U.S. Cellular Field, Mr. Linebrink
  8. Everyone on these boards knew that right away when it was made. Three crap prospects for salary relief of Abreu and the late Cory Lidle
  9. I think rather that Matthews Jr will shift over to Left Field and have the aging Anderson as the DH... Thats if Sciossa is smart about it. This move might still set up a Miguel Cabrera trade. Reggie Willits will now be lost looking for playing time (Marlins looking for a center fielder), also the Garland trade gives them a surplus of starting pitchers
  10. Damn I was not expecting this at all Once Andruw Jones, Aaron Rowand and Mike Cameron choose where to go... Sox will be waiting in the weeds to pounce with Coco Crisp in toe
  11. Just got back from a long 2 day business trip... all i have to say is what a f***ing reasonable deal for the Red Sox. They have thus far made 4 sound moves this offseason at below market prices Julian Tavarez- $3.85 million option picked up Tim Wakefield- $4 million option Curt Schilling- $8 million Mike Lowell- 3 years/$37.5 million (I heard he turned down a 4 year/$50 million deal with the Phillies! Almost the same as Paul Konerko did) I heard that last part on Lowell during this morning's sports center]
  12. TO has been getting love from the refs today ---After being tackled on a play in which he had a long pass, he got up and shove back the Redskins safety... No flag ---After scoring a touchdown, he slam dunked the ball over the post... no flag Both plays are unsportsmanship like conduct, but Fox glorified the last play when they cut to commercial
  13. Im guessing todays game ball wont be going to the Cowboys' center lol
  14. Colts had to squeeze out a Win against the Kansas City Chiefs, the AFC Championship game is gearing up to be Pitssburgh in New England
  15. roto, no links as of yet Little Marco Scutaro now has more chances to get his big hits off of the Yankees. This past season I believe he had a walkoff homerun against Mariano
  16. 1 year deal with an option for 2nd year (incentive based), why not? The Sox would still have MDC as insurance to take on the 7th inning role
  17. http://www.boston.com/sports/baseball/redsox/articles/2007/11/18/fishing_for_a_big_marlin/?page=4 The Cubs, Rangers, and Yankees are also said to be interested in signing him. A trio of Wood/Okajima/Papelbon... me like
  18. I didnt say its an awful staff, just it remains to be seen what to expect from them (Besides Wang)
  19. This is the same guy who predicted a 3rd place finish and 86-76 record for the eventual World Series Champions And that was after the Sox lost their 1st game of the season. I trust Miss Cleo's predictions before I even consider yours Psst not sure if you know by now, but the offense isnt what carries a team throughout the playoffs (key word is pitching)... its what the Yankees have lacked for awhile now
  20. And if he tanks again in the playoffs for New York, the boos and viscious New York Post cover stories will come back
  21. You really think the Red Sox are going to submit a 4 year deal for a 34 year old 3rd baseman? The Red Sox held steady on not giving a 4 year deal to Pedro... advantage Red Sox as his stuff has regressed to NL only standards and has been seeing the DL more often. The Red Sox set a price for Johnny Damon (10 years/$40 million), Yankees gave him a take it or leave it offer of 4 years of $52 million. Entering 2008, the Sox will have Ellsbury, a potential ROY and all star for years to come. Entering 2008, year 3 of Damon's contract, he will be just a part time DH/left fielder. Melky Cabrera basically won the center field position this past season. Not to mention as much as he and Boras likes to glorify his "durability", he's starting to look more worn down and was only helped by serving as the DH.
