I really have no idea, to be honest. I haven't seen anything to officially suggest that Jake won't be starter, but the same could be said about him starting -- the Broncos have been pretty quiet on the issue, as far as I know. Everyone -- literally, everyone -- is calling for Jake's head. The already small group of Jake's supporters, which I'm a proud member of, is dwindling. I love Jake. I think he's far from being the only problem on this team. The defensive coordinator, Larry Coyer, is a joke. He knows how to make one adjustment, and that's pulling up and using his counter productive method for protecting the score midway through the third quarter. The offensive line is banged up, leading to some inconsistencies in the running game. Rod Smith has lost about two steps and is only capable of getting open against the zone and his hands are missing in action. We don't have the pass catching Tight Ends that Shanahan's system relies on.
We need a stud RB. I'd love Kenny Irons or Marshawn Lynch. A guy who can pound you all game... no RB by committee.
As for Cutler, there's two ways to go about it... the Eli Manning way, or the Phillip Rivers way. The guy has the potential to be great, but I'd hate to damage him by introducing him before he's ready. He looked great against second string defenses playing basic man and zone defenses in preseason, but that's it.
So in short, in regards to the Cutler/Plummer situation, you know about as much as I do.
But I expect that, barring injury, Jake Plummer has made his last start for the Denver Broncos. I love Jake, but part of me wants to see what Cutler's made of.
