I'm going to pretend I'm a scout: Lavarnway's defense is sufficient to have him catch next year. Salty's D is really poor and Lavarnway's bat is way better. Instead, I suspect he will be sent back down in 2 days (if they make the playoffs). Seriously, he might be the 2nd best RHB on the team behind Pedroia at this point.
