  1. I think I should trademark it, given that I'm probably the first person to ever do it!
  2. Is Hansen going to be the setup man eventually? Or is he penned to be the long relief? I'm wondering how he could be used, either in this game or in similar close-and-still-early situations. Pauley has a nice sinker that cuts back on lefties. It is maddux-esque in its movement.
  3. Bear down Pauley A curtain call?!??! For that??!!
  4. I like what Francona had to say about Pauley a minute ago on NESN. He has a nice, down-to-earth way with words and I actually think he's a really good manager. Notice how he tends to out-think Torre in a lot of men on situations? He pulls strings at times that people least expect. f***ing double play.
  5. One last Place post for now. This one is pretty interactive and kind of cool http://www.goupstate.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20060317/NEWS71/60316004/1029 The kids was academically 11th in his class of over 400.
  6. More Information THE JASON PLACE FILE - Named to 2005 Baseball Coaches Association 4A All-State Team. - Hit .541 last year as a junior. - Has 36 career home runs. - Baseball America third team pre-season All-American - No. 3 prospect for the class of 2006, ranked by Perfect Game USA - Top 10 Best Raw Power by Baseball America. - No. 26 top high school prospect for 2006, ranked by Baseball America. - Committed to play for the University of South Carolina. - Eleventh in his class. From another article at: http://www.goupstate.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20060317/NEWS/603170383/1044 There's a pic there too. I know all of this should go on a Jason Place page, but I'm too engrosed in the topic here to leave. If someone wants to move it they can go ahead, otherwise, I'll post here.
  7. This s*** is moving too quickly for me to wrap my mind around it. I will have to digest this whole draft while I watch the game, and overnight, and tomorrow, and for the rest of the year, and the offseason, and for the years and years that I will likely be speculating about all of these new names. It's like Christmas! In any case, here is an article I found on Jason Place. Of course, he's like the best high school player ever from his school, and is the best player that anyone there has seen, yada yada. This is, of course, as it should be for someone being taken out of HS in the 1st round by the red sox. I hope this guy a good, scrappy, fleet footed outfielder. He hit over .500 last year, with only 4 HR. http://www.independentmail.com/and/sp_high_schools/article/0,1886,AND_8210_4749123,00.html
  8. Oh the defeatism! It's just one game, and its still early. Sometimes it is better to come from behind... let's at least be hopeful. f***in Damon!
  9. Mussina is really changing speed nicely right now and getting ahead. Hopefully guys like Youk and Lowell at the bottom of the order will wear him down and hit some extra base hits. Nice hit trot.
  10. What a stupid play to give up a run. The good thing is that it is completely abnormal. Now lets get some runs off of the Moose and make that run insignificant.
  11. BTW, why the HELL is Todd Jones a closer when Zumaya is there? Why!?!
  12. Now THAT is why I watch 27 outs, day after day, week after week.
  13. Nice at bat by Cora there.
  14. I like everything I've read about this kid. Does anyone know where video of him is available?
  15. I like Youk in the 5 hole. I think the sox should bring up Hee Sop Choi to platoon at 1B with Snow while Lowell is out. We should either bring up lester or hansen, or trade for another starting pitcher.
  16. and then they would need another run too.
  17. get out the wind turbines... a gonz will power them for you
  18. Better than throwing up meat for them to club over the fence? I don't think so.
  19. You're probably right... Wells and Glaus are both beastly right now. I just don't think they're THAT good. It seems like this year the thorn in the Sox side is going to be the Jays, not the O's or the Rays or (hopefully) the yanks.
  20. We just need 3 R's off of BJ Ryan. Hmmm
  21. What's with the HR's this staff is giving up?
  22. I suppose that next winter the sox will be willing to put down 4-5 million to get out from Clement's contract, like they did with E-teria.
