  1. So, from what I can see here, HR don't count in BABIP? the "In Play" actually means "In the park and playable" or something along those lines? Interesting. Thanks for the info ORS.
  2. Isn't that a little low?
  3. They're pretty bad so far, actually In 44 G and 164 AB he has a .268 AVG, .360 OBP, .378 SLG, with 1 HR, 11 2B, 0 SB and 13 RBI. The one thing that is obviously impressive there is the .360 OBP. He's still getting on base almost 1/10 times via a walk, which is reassuring (.360-.268 = almost .100). He hasn't lost his plate control obviously. He just needs to get more hits. I would be interested to see what his BABIP is, to see whether he is just having bad luck or something.
  4. Come on Lowell. Give us some help baby!
  5. what the F was that Trot? First pitch swinging?
  6. Rivera has been hurt. GOD I would love him to aggrivate a little somthin' somethin' and blow the game.
  7. I was thinking the same thing, but we don't have the bat right now. If Wily Mo was around I would probalby throw him in there.
  8. Let's BEAST Rivera and then show them some Papelbon.
  9. In general, I think that there are very few, if ANY middle relievers that warrant having faith. By definition a middle reliever is used if the SP doesn't go deep enough to get to the closer. Any middle reliever who is worth his salt will likely not be a middle reliever for long. I just don't hold him entirely responsible... especially now that he has 3 K's. If Sox pitching loses this game 2-1 then its not their fault. Holding the NYY to 2 should get you a W. (knock on wood)
  10. Yeah, in theory, but baseball doesn't work like that. He pitched carefully and was afraid to put it over the plate to a guy who could put the game beyond reach with one swing. we'll see how he does this inning. I hate damon.
  11. Something is wrong with Ortiz's swing right now. He is looking like a hacker up there lately.
  12. You guys are too harsh on Seanez (for tonight at least). He did walk in a run, but Giambi is a dangerous hitter. I rarely blame other teams' relievers for walking in runs when Papi or Manny are up, it is purely fear. Nothing more, and rightly so. Giambi takes roids.
  13. Jesus. Great. Game. Pauley. Let's keep this kid up.
  14. Yeah, if you want it to occasionally be hit out of the park that's what you would do. Otherwise, as a strikeout/swing and miss pitch it is much more effective the way he is throwing it, start it out in the zone and let it duck out and away (or down and in to lefties). He's pitching pretty conservatively. I imagine as he gets more control he will start including one that starts at the batter and breaks down, but I imagine Tek doesn't want to risk one of those to good MLB hitters.
  15. The movement on Pauley's pitches (while perhaps not comparable to Maddux)(I did it again) reminds me a lot of someone familiar and dear to all of our hearts: Arroyo. He seems to have a pretty explosive fastball when mixed with his movement stuff.
  16. What an arm from Lowell. he HUCKED that thing.
  17. More than anything I think manny was trying to test Damon's arm and hopefully pick up a base at his expense. He should know that damon, unlike he, is rather astute in the field and certainly capable of covering for the one contingency on an easy basehit to center: "throw the ball to second, don't let anyone get a double from a single". Not too hard. Manny likely would have been changing the 50 Cent song on his MP3 sunglasses or urinating in the corner if someone tried it against him. god love the man, but we're not messing around here! This is a big series.
  18. big inning for Pauley here. Get through 6 baby!
  19. Waste of an inning, horrible play by manny. Sox fans are well aware that this is what comes with the Mannitory. It's like a manny tax. He can make some great defensive plays, outthink any pitcher in baseball, and then play like a drunken relative at a whiffleball game. My god that guy makes 20million a year
  20. I love the non-pictorial commentary when fans run on the field... "there he is, running. There are ten security guards after him... OHHH! Ha Ha Ha, Ohhhhh. Ha. that was a good hit. ha ha"
  21. Ichiro? Yeah, Ichiro could try that, but why did you choose this as the time to run? Was he just trying to test Damon's "gun?" ha ha 1st outfield assist for damon, timely manny, timely.
  22. What the hell was that manny?
  23. They almost just hit manny with a "94" mph fastball inside. I hope he kills it now. The Yankee Stadium radar gun is horribly inflated. Last road trip wasn't it saying that Beckett was regularly hitting 98 and that RJ was throwing 95-96? Is that the only way to make Yankee fans think they have pitchers who can actually pitch? Weak.
