  1. So does SOTK or VA start today?
  2. Damn him and his team first attitude! I concede the point on Cano, and I still think both of them were a very outside shot. The game is just far too different in pitching and hitting than 50-60 years ago for any of the old records to be broken.
  3. If anyone now can do it, he can. Cano or Pedroia might do it in five or six years. It wouldn't shock me. But it wouldn't shock me if no one did, either.
  4. Pretty much. The days of .400 hitters are long gone as far as I can see it. Mauer will probably win the batting title, but not over .400. BABIP does not stay that high for long.
  5. Like I said, this offense can handle it. Remember when Youk went on the DL? They didn't miss a beat, and Youk is a much better hitter for this team. Papi was batting negative .1000 through early June and the Sox were ten games over .500. Between Youk, Pedroia, Ellsbury and his consistent .300, Tek surging this season after an awful 08, Green killing the ball, Drew, and of course Bay, this team can certainly make up for one lost hitter for a month.
  6. I agree with pretty much everything you just said. I don't think Papi will ever be what he once was, but what he's been doing the last 15 or so games is good enough for me. Wake's consistency doesn't surprise me. The Sox HOF should be named after him when he retires. As for Lowell, I think the offense is good enough to fill a hole left if he were to go down.
  7. What I'm implying is that before they worry about making first place, they should worry about slipping to fourth. What did you think I was implying?
  8. Yankees fans should be paying less attention to being 4 games back of the Sox now, and more attention to being only 1 game up on the Rays and 2 on the Jays.
  9. Once again, Wake pitched enough to keep the game within winning distance. Nick Green is absolutely rediculous in tie games or with two out and RISP. First pitch walkoff from Nick friggin Green. I love it. Rockies win, Orioles win. Pirates lose, but to the Rockies, so eh. LOVE IT
  10. Yeah depth is pretty cool. Just ask Yankees fans. Oops, I forgot...
  11. If by 15 you mean 45, then yeah.
  12. They probably called him up so they'd have an unneeded guy to send back down when Smoltz comes. That way Bard gets to stay.
  13. Dusty Brown
  14. Thanks, dude. I think my brain just melted.
  15. Remember that burning raft joke that kicked the sand into example1's vagina? Yeah, no longer a joke.
  16. Looking for something in August, two tickets, preferably 50 each or less.
  17. Agreed. Two gamethreads for one game would be rediculous. New starter. Lester took the hard-luck loss, you can too.
  18. I do, because his name is Shannon.
  19. So he acknowledges that it's rare for a guy to stay with one team, says he's prepared for the possibility of playing elsewhere, and then mentions he'd love to stay with the Sox. What a douchebag. Yeah, you guys writing him off already sure got it right.
  20. f***. Well, even though they lost, they're still 3 games in first and the bullpen gets a little rest seeing as they would have had to pitch 3.2 innings if it had restarted. I'm not too concerned. Chalk this up to weather, the Sox could have destroyed the Marlins 'bullpen' given a chance.
  21. Actually, wait...none of this sucks. It's AWESOME.
  22. You know what else sucks? Getting shut out in the last game in front of 12 fans.
