  1. Haha suckers.
  2. 5 HRs in extra innings for the first time ever. Not just postseason, just ever.
  3. Expecting Judge, Bird, Sanchez, et al to perform just as well next season as they did this season is a lot like expecting that JBJ, Mookie, and Bogaerts would repeat their awesome 2016 season this year again. In short...very unlikely. The Yankees will be good, but banking on going to the brink of the World Series again is aiming a little high, especially with Tanaka being shaky and CC Sabathia ready to implode at a moment's notice. I would be willing to bet that if Sabathia is on the Yankees next season, he won't be by the end of it. The Yankees have a good young core moving forward, but leave a little room for doubt and, you know, reason. Anyone reading your posts would think you expect a 125-win season next year, and I know you're not the kind of guy who wears rose colored glasses that thick.
  4. I agree with the others. Butterfield should be fired. Out of a cannon.
  5. There is a reason most companies train management personnel at a different location than the one they will be managing at. It's hard to come in and be the boss when the people you are managing were your buddies and equals less than a year earlier. As for "Mookie would not be hitting .260" and "Bogie would not be going 0fer", what is the evidence of that? Ortiz has never been a manager, coach, or trainer. There is nothing in his history that tells me Papi as a manager would completely 180 everything.
  6. This might be the oldest thread ever bumped haha
  7. Geez, even when you're married you should at least be able to get off on your birthday.
  8. I still marvel when I think about how much a split second matters in this game. Can anyone even imagine what we'd be saying about Tito or Dave Roberts these days if he had gotten thrown out on that steal?
  9. Social media is ubiquitous nowadays. This is the 2017 equivalent of some guy screaming "Girardi should be fired" on a street corner while Chapman walks by and Chapman replying "hell yeah he should, he sucks". It's not international quality news, but it's definitely Yankees news.
  10. Jacko, what exactly was the decision you are torching here? Green gave up the GS, but you were obviously in favor of having him in the game. I'm not being snide, I genuinely want to know exactly which decision of Girardi's is the one you are freaking out on right now
  11. I love reading things like this after the fact.
  12. I was kind of hoping for Vasquez over Leon, but otherwise good lineup.
  13. It's going to stay here forever, because this is the official Gamethread
  14. MIN over NY COL over ARI WSH over CHC COL over LAD HOU over BOS MIN over CLE COL over WSH MIN over HOU COL over MIN in the least-watched WS of all time ...okay, just kidding. I think the Sox lose the WS to the Nationals.
  15. You don't really believe that any more than I do. The Yankees squeaked into the playoff by the skin of their teeth. Cleveland has proven themselves to be one of the best teams, if not the best team, in the AL. The Yankees are toast. Hell, I think the Sox are probably toast if they meet the Guardians in the ALCS, though I hope I'm incorrect about that. The Sox have a much better chance to beat them than the Yankees do, anyways. The best the Yankees can hope for is to beat the Twins and force at least a 4th game in the ALDS so Judge can start padding his postseason resume.
  16. Let's not get carried away here guys. Jacko is still a Yankees fan, and therefore sucks.
  17. Thunder had a great streak, time to start another one. Sale vs. Happ, advantage obviously Sox. Just win.
  18. The reason we have a Yankees forum is very simple: To post Yankees stuff, and for Yankees fans on this board to discuss Yankees stuff. The discussion about why so many Yankees fans hang out here is a completely separate one (though I imagine it is at least partly due to the severe mental disabilities inherent in Yankee fandom; can we really expect rational decision-making from these people?!). They're here, and they're not going anywhere. The alternative to having a Yankees subforum is having all Yankees threads in the General Baseball forum, which would make that forum twice as large and much more unwieldy to navigate. Alternatively, the Yankees threads could end up being posted as comparison or contrast pieces to the Red Sox, and end up in the Sox forum, which is horrifying to consider. Imagine all of the threads currently active in the DY forum in the TalkSox forum instead, just with a few lines added about how it makes them better than the Red Sox. The Yankees fans on this site (well, most of them) are here because this is a great site for baseball discussion. Go to the YES forums, or even some of the official Red Sox fan forums. They're mostly garbage. In between the spam and the membership counts in quadruple digits, you have far more unrestrained trolls and an amount of useless off-topic discussion that dwarfs any actual insightful conversation about baseball. Jacko contributes a lot to this board, and when it does not directly involve the Yankees, his ideas and statements are almost guaranteed to be part of a great conversation. We may fight, and we may have rivalries and occasional personal attacks, but that's par for the course on message boards. I'm pretty sure, at this very moment, someone on a message board dedicated to Knitting and Crocheting For Seniors just called someone else a ****waffle. But by and large, at the end of the day, this is a much better place to talk about baseball (the reason we are ostensibly here) than about 98% of baseball websites. Yankees fans suck. But the Yankees fans on this site, suck though they might, are our Yankees fans. You don't kick your pet out of the house or put it to sleep just because its nonsensical yapping and frequent incontinence might inconvenience you sometimes, because deep down, you love your little idiot. Finally, if none of the above arguments make sense to you, just remember: the Yankees and the Sox have a rivalry that goes all the way back to a time when people wore bowler hats unironically. It's the most well-known rivalry in sports. People who know nothing else about baseball know that the Red Sox and the Yankees are bitter enemies. I bet most of the world knows. I bet if you asked the Pope, he'd say "Who are you and how did you get in here? Security!" That kind of rivalry virtually guarantees that we'd be talking about all of this stuff anyways. Keeping track of Yankees games, prospects, and roster moves is a big part of the life of most die-hard Sox fans. It just so happens that Yankees fans are starting these threads, but we'd circle around to them in our own time even without them. What would our lives be without Yankees fans on this board to ******** with?
