  1. To everyone who can't let go of the defensive changes, yes, you want your Gold Glover in the field for the whole game, but in the final inning, with a lead, you should trust that any of the utility guys on your roster can handle a couple ground balls or popups should the closer not strike someone out with extreme prejudice. That's what the Sox pay these guys for. If you don't think they can handle three outs at first base, why are they on the team at all? Oh, yeah...to give guys like Youk a spell now and then. Like they were tonight.
  2. The man is completely and utterly insane. With the mentally unbalanced, there's no way to tell. He could walk because he wants to get away from the mind-reading water cooler in the clubhouse, or he could stay because of the pet shoe he named Dr. Phillip Montgomery Wildershins The First that he keeps a locker he is certain is a magical cave.
  3. I think Aceves is trying to get more wins, so he's deliberately sabotaging Wake's chances at a record to get them.
  4. If Papelbon strikes out the side, who cares who's playing what position?
  5. How about "The Big S"
  6. We need a new nickname for Saltalamacchia. "Salty" sounds kind of weird.
  7. David Ortiz once punched God right in the face.
  8. They had better score, I'd hate to see McDonald come up in the three-spot in extras.
  9. "Blown holds" is a nonexistent stat, just like "Useless Posts" and "Aliases"...luckily for you.
  10. What are you talking about? The Sox were up by one run, Aceves let the tying run score. He gets a blown save, even if he came in in the third inning.
  11. Okay, a guy named Glen has never accomplished anything, ever. Hit him hard.
  12. Well that...that was unexpected.
  13. Saltalamalamaccalasaltalamacchia! A!
  14. The raw, still-beating heart of Ron Gardenhire.
  15. On the subject of walk-offs for Scutaro, his walkoff HR against Rivera was one of only 5 he's allowed, the others were to Bill Selby, Bill Mueller (I vaguely recall that), Vernon Wells, and Ichiro. EDIT: And, I never would have guessed, the team he's given up the most homers to in his career is Baltimore, not Boston. Also, he's only given up back-to-back home runs once.
  16. Hughes, yes. This is what I like to see
  17. It was Oakland, actually. Three-run homer.
  18. Seriously? No Saltalamacchia?
