  1. Actually, it's where all of Andy Pettitte's HGH stash is buried.
  2. "You all" was perhaps a little too general. I wasn't talking about you. I just meant that the Sox are in the midst of extending their lead after taking the lead on a game in which a spot starter struggled, and everyone can't just be happy with this? Complain about the starter and Napoli later. Live in the moment! The Sox are winning!
  3. The Astros are hilariously bad defensively.
  4. I swear you would all complain about stuff in the gamethread of the clinching game of the World Series with the Sox up by 10.
  5. Here come the Red Sox, you whiny bastards.
  6. I really hope at some point Hoes gets thrown out on the bases so I can make a "throws before Hoes" joke. Actually, I just made it. Haha. I am funny. Seriously though, this game sucks
  7. YOTN mojo puts the Red Sox in the record books!
  8. Whether or not that typo was intentional, it is accurate.
  9. YOTN Mojo. Go. Steven Wright Versus who the hell cares. This is Houston. The Sox stumbled a bit coming up against a guy who is clearly talented, and there is no shame in losing to an excellent pitcher. Jordan Lyles is not an excellent pitcher. Jordan Lyles is Jordan f***ing Lyles and the Red Sox are going to kick the crap out of this son of a bitch. Tonight, David Ortiz is going to do the worst thing any Spanish-speaking man has done to a group of Texans since Jim Bowie was bayoneted to death in his sickbed. Win. There are no other acceptable options. Win this f***ing game.
  10. I like the idea of a pinned thread per player for the whole season, unpinned if they are traded or DFAed, where ALL discussion about them goes into that thread. Or, to avoid clutter, a thread per position.
  11. I'm kind of glad the Sox didn't get Garza after reading that.
  12. You do realize that these are not the only two options, right? There are others. Such as "post in the gamethread while everyone is there to discuss it" or "don't create a thread at all for every single tiny thought that flits through your mind while you happen to be near the computer". And once again, bumping threads in and of itself is not the problem. I don't know how many times I have to tell you guys that the issue is how annoying you all are to each other, and bumping threads just to say "SEE YOU WERE WRONG THAT ONE TIME" to someone who isn't even online at the time is a symptom of that problem. If discussions could be held for more than a page without turning into arguments about who follows who around the site insulting them and who does and does not 'stick to baseball', then it wouldn't be an issue. This is the last time I am saying this. The next person who makes some snide or 'subtle' remark about bumping threads or whatever the hell else is getting banned for a week, along with everyone else I can think of depending on how annoyed I am.
  13. If I had a birthmark on my face like that, I would get a tattoo directly on top of it that looked like wires and various machine parts, so I could look like a Terminator that had part of its face ripped off instead of a dumb frat guy who tried to light his vodka on fire while he spit it out of his mouth.
  14. There is another solution, which is that you all stop being unbelievably obnoxious douches all the f***ing time.
  15. And how many posts after the bump did it take for someone to say "you were wrong" to Lord Snow?
  16. Except this happens even when no one was denying what they said. It's just done when a player does well to say "nyah nyah" to whomever opposed the signing in the first place. "Haha, you were wrong six months ago" is not a legitimate reason to bump a thread. If someone denies posting something in the past, a link to the thread works just as well without bringing it to the front page to clutter up yet another baseball discussion with pointless insults.
  17. 8 years on Talksox has convinced me that this is a lost cause. All that bumping threads to say "I told you so" or "You were wrong" does is devolve into arguments and insults. Just look at the Papelbon thread I had to close the other day.
  18. There is really no reason to bump these threads though, there are plenty of currently active discussions in which these things can be discussed.
  19. The next time someone bumps a thread more than a week old for the sole purpose of annoying another poster, I am going to be...upset.
  20. To be fair, a hole close to your porch usually means something is crawling under there and pooping. Usually a raccoon.
  21. Just for fun, I looked at the differentials after the 2007 season, the best Sox season in recent memory. +210. The Yankees finished at +191. The third highest was the Guardians...at +115.
  22. The Yankees are at -6. Amazing how bad a team can be when one half of the offense/pitching combination is excellent and the other half is awful. Incidentally, the Yankees are the only team over .500 with a negative differential. And holy s***, the Tigers and Cardinals are at +132. Sox are +98, behind those two teams and the Braves at +110.
  23. And each year, Stanton's possible contributions will go down. Stanton is a good hitter, but I doubt he will ever be the best hitter available. Trading away even the #5 or 6 prospect for what could end up being one or two great offensive seasons and then two or three seasons of mediocre DHing seems like a really bad idea.
  24. The whole season for the Jays surprises me. I thought that this year would be the year that all 5 teams in the division were in a dogfight for first. I honestly expected the season to end with no more than three or four games separating all of the teams. When the roster includes Buerhle, Dickey, Johnson, Reyes, Encarnacion, Bautista....well, it just seemed like a great team. Dickey coming down a bit I could understand, his Cy Young season seemed like a once-in-a-career season at best and a bizarre fluke at worst, seeing as he's a knuckleballer. But no way did I think they would be this bad.
