  1. oh s*** lol..my bad guys i guess i overlooked that one. wierd lol
  2. J.D. Drew played 72 games in 2005 with 252 ABs. He had just signed that big contract with the Dodgers after playing 2004 in ATL, and was considered by many mothing more than an overpaid, overvalued injury-prone player. Now you had no problem throwing that one stat out in which Drew edged Abreu those 2 years, but in 2004 Abreu hit 30 homers with 105 RBIs while Drew did out-homer him with 31, and 96 RBI's. I mean, the stats are all very comparable with Abreu edging Drew in more categories than vice-versa, but also considering Drew's contract and injury status, plus Abreu's increased publicity coming off of a very good 2005, as well as winning the HR Derby in record setting/breaking fashion that year, in addittion to the defense. WHile the defensive stats were also very coparable, Abreu had only 2 or 3 more errors than Drew throughout that period, but look at how many more games Abreu had played in. I forgot to look at assists, but I have a feeling the arm went to Abreu...i'll have to check on that. IDK, basicaly what i'm trying to say is that all-things considered Bobby Abreu was probably the more favorable choice for everybody, including possibly the Red Sox I wouls say.
  3. Finished Thanksgiving dinner and dessert and figured I would come and catch up on everything I havent added yet. There ya go guys!
  4. Really can't complain with this coaching staff. I do think that the staff we've had the past two seasons was all-around better, but this is definately a solid staff.
  5. Yeah they are! They're never much fun to play anyway, especially now!
  6. Wow...some pretty strong statements "you f***ing **********." It's not that he's not payign his bills....it was just an oversight. Yeah, he has the place at Trump, but his home is in Tampa, so in his eyes that's his residence. So what, he filed as a Florida resident, simple. Because the state and city want the tax dollars they're persuing them...it's not a matter of Jeter being evasive and not paying his bills. He's a multi-millionaire, what reason would he have for not paying some taxes? It'll all be taken care of. To sit there and say what you said is mind-blwing to me though.
  7. Wasnt this first whispered by a third party between A-Rod and the Yankees?
  8. So you think we would be better off not bringing these guys back?
  9. I really dont see it that way. Call it bias, but the Yankees, since Cashman declared in late August-early September, if A-Rod opted out the Yankes would not persue him on the free agent market. He opted out, and the Yankees ownership, baseball operations, etc. stood pat on their stance. They didn't go back on their word and go out and try to bring A-Rod back, it was A-Rod who went back to the Yankees, agreed to negotiate on their terms, swallow the money the Yankees lost from Texas, and initiated the whole revival. To say the Yankees FO lose their credibility for this is wrong, I think. They took a stance, stood pat, and played hardball. This was not a bluff by any means. They get presented with the opportunity, on their terms, to bring back the best player in baseball, a move that is obviously a positive one, and they did it.
  10. I honestly don't want Lowell, but wouldnt be outraged or disappointed in the least if we got him. It's not worth the pick and probably the money, but if they do it he's a very good player who i'm sure will contribute just fine. As for the Santana trade, I absolutely agree that you can't get Santana without giving up those top young guys. That being said, we've waited a long, LONG time for the Yankees to develop a perrenial ace, and Phil Hughes could very well be that in a few years. That being said, combined with what Joba showed us this past season, and the offensive umbers that Cano has put up, and will put up in the future, i'm not sure trading 2 of those guys plus possibly a combination of other lesser prospects is the best thing to do. Dont get me wrong, Santana is the best pitcher in baseball (A healthy Roy Halladay gives him a run for his money though, IMO) and I would obviously love to have him. If the Yanks got him, that would be great! I would just prefer to hang onto what we have developed ourselves. For the past 5-6 years the Yankees have been criticized and ridiculed for the inability to hang onto their homegrown talent, opting instead to ship it all away. Not since the late 90's, coming into the 2000's when we had what was considered at one time the best farm system in baseball has our player development been respected, respectable, commended, or commendable. Note: Granted, all those prospects that we had when we were ranked #1 i.e. Knight, Choate, Seabol, Yarnell, Johnson, etc. failed to turn out as expected, whether it be because of injury, prolonged promotions, trades, etc. they were still considered the cream of the crop at one point. Back to my point, which I seem to have diverted from. Now that we have potential big-time players coming out of our own ranks, drafted by OUR scouts and PD personell I say we hang onto them. If it means passing on a Santana, or a Cabrera then so be it. If the opportunity presented itself for a deal in which we could get Santana with as little damage to our young core as possible, then I say go for it. But that's not likely to happen. Just as I think it's not likely Lowell will end up in pinstripes.
  11. I understand everything you're saying, and agree to an extent. But I dont think Jeter could play even a decent 1B. As for the Santana deal, I agree. It would certainly take a LOT. But I would be opposed to a deal involving Hughes, Chamberlain, or Cano. And I think some of the people in the Yankee organization would feel the same way.
  12. Keep in mind Hank Steinbrenner has shown a tendancy to spout off at the mouth without thinking about what he's saying. He's like an earlier George.
  13. I dont see any of that. Well I can see the deal for Santana looking like that, except I think the Yankees would be somewhat reluctant to include Cano in that. But I definately don't see Jeter moving to second and and A-Rod playing short. For what, so Mike Lowell can play 3rd? Why not just play him at first and go out and get a second baseman for the time being. (Idk, maybe a Kaz Matsui, who Cashman loved, for instance.)
  14. Na I said i'd commend him only if he does show that he genuinely regrets opting out, wants to be a Yankee, and settles on a deal sufficient for the Yankees while taking into cosideration their loss of subsidy from the Rangers by him opting out. If he doesnt then I still say f*** him, good riddance, move on There's no question that the Yankees are a better team with A-Rod than without him, and if he's willing to humble himself, swallow not only his pride, but his word (not words exactly, but actions lol), and wants to be a Yankee then i'd welcome him back. According to John Sterling, he got a phone call at around 5:00-5:30 from a source of his, who he says is close to A-Rod, telling him that a deal was agreed upon this afternoon. The same source called Sterling 3-4 days ago and told him of A-Rod's intentions to try to remain with the Yankees. Take it for what it's worth I guess. It doesn't mean anything to me until someone more credible, and official than our lunatic of a radio play-by-play guy (who you can't help but love ) says it, or even A-Rod himself. He did release that statement today stating his desire to try and remain with the Yanks.
  15. wow...interesting developments. If he does in fact come back, that would certainly solve a few issues and save us some trouble, and probably some prospects this winter. If A-Rod is going to in fact take this deal, or something similar to it I would commend him. Good s***, Alex!
  16. By negotiating a below-market value deal? go figure.....
  17. HOW DID WANG NOT WIN IT!??? haha lol im only playing. Good stuff C.C., congrats to him.
  18. What luxury tax? We're building a privately financed ballpark. Peace luxury tax!! ..for now at least
  19. What do you men another? Come 2012 Hideki, Giambi, etc. will be off contract. He'd be ideal for that role come then if he's no longer valuable behind the plate.
  20. Wow. Good s*** though, at least we still got him. As for the length of the contact, I think he'll be able to produce offensively throughout, just a matter of reducing his days behind the plate as the years go on, and maybe even having to make him a full time DH or 1B come 2012 or something.
  21. I really, REALLY hope we don't offer him 5. I'm not too big on signing Lowell to begin with. Don't get me wrong, Lowell's an exceptional player, but for some reason I just would prefer not to sign him, especially for 5 years. Obviously, he's better than what we have at third right now, and that being said if the Yanks were to sign him, I wouldnt be satisfied with a contract longer than 3 years.
  22. From what i've heard it's gonna be Jones/Thames in Left. This is one of those trades that dont seem to make much sense either way...not good, nor bad. Just have to wait and see on this one...
  23. I was watching the Knicks game and saw that they said they would be speaking with Jorge...but I didnt have time to wait around, had s*** to do. Wish I would have seen it though...
  24. IDK, probably not. They still have a sting-ray patch on their left (i believe, could be right) sleeve. I'm gonna have to look into this more, i'm kinda curiouswhat other changes this may bring throughout the organization.
