  1. might not be that great anymore if they trade away the heart of it (Blalock)
  2. nobody looks at half of those stats when they are voting. Its not fair to break it down that much, theyre not robots theyre players
  3. To be eligible for the Rule 5 draft you need to have a certian number of years in professional baseball and not be on the 40 man roster. I think the number of years is 3, but it could be 4 or 5 (im not sure) and as I recall Dustin was drafted in either 2003 or 2004, making him ineligible for the Rule 5, so he cant get taken. They will use the other 3 spots for players who can be taken.
  4. what a guy I dont know if I got mine yet, I havent gone out to check the mailbox yet
  5. yea, im sure we could bat him in the leadoff spot if we desired, but I was talking more of a natural leafodd guy. I dont know how much experience Giles has batting leadoff in his career, but to me he looks like more of a middle of the order guy.
  6. Looks like the Marlins are close to a deal with the Rangers where they would send Becket and Lowell away in return for Hank Blalock and a prospect. Link I understand trading away Lowell. I wouldn't trade Becket, but I could understand why they are, and getting Hank Blalock in the deal is magnificent, but I would have tried to get an outfielder or something from another team because Miguel Cabrera's natural position is 3B, and they might as well have moved him to third (personal comfort issues) and got someone to replace him in left. Also, why would the Rangers trade away their top homegrown stud. This guy is solid and means a lot to their offense. NO WAY Mike Lowell can come in and fill those shoes without having a little extra toe room.
  7. yea, I do not mind Giles, though I would have preferred a leadoff guy.
  8. the thing with the Huff post was more then just a little casual speculation, That was full blown speculation where an arguement was provided. I was simply stating regarding Beltre that I would not be surprised if he used. not because of his decline or anything, it was just a statement. I didnt make a big deal about it or anything, I made a post saying that he it wouldnt surprise me, I did not point out the decline in his stats and point to steroids as a possible explanation. Get it straight.
  9. I love Clippers/Lakers games. As i've mentioned several times on this board I happen to be a Clippers fan as well (just a second team to root for other than the Knicks). Who is officially the home team for this game?
  10. I did not accuse Adrian Beltre of using steroids, I just said thatI wouldnt be surprised if he did/does. There is a difference in accusing somebody and just having a casual speculation. What I did with Beltre was just a casual speculation, what you guys did with Giambi and Sheffield is accuse. You really like to jump all over me, if I was a Sox fan I guarantee that you wouldnt be as interested in every single one of my posts. But my friend, in this case you are wrong
  11. Edmonds is getting up in age and I dont think the Cards would take Manny, theyre into good defense mixed with good offense, not just good offense.
  12. Was that the game against the Marlins back in 2003?
  13. Myers is a pretty good lefty specialist, like for a batter or 2 at a time Looks like the Yankees have a pretty good shot of getting Brian Giles, and it looks pretty likely. Not sure he's my top pick for CF, as I would prefer a leadoff guy to move Jeet back to the 2 spot, but Brian Giles is a good, productive player who I wouldnt be too disappointed to have.
  14. The only guy I think tested positive twice was Ryan Franklin of the Mariners. Like I said I THINK he tested positive twice, could be wrong. But dont remember his explanation being that it was from what was in his system before.
  15. Exactly, it makes no sense to give away the top bargaining chip for a player like Nady. I have a feeling there is more to this deal then just Cam/Nady and Newsday just doesnt have the entire scoop.
  16. why the hell is Omar doing this? He better be getting something else in this deal. The outrage of Mets fans is going to be unbelieveable when this trade is made official.
  17. Doubt it. Boras always does this, remember before 2004 Boras guaranteed that he would get Millwood a 4yr/$35mil deal...he just sets those ridiculous prices so that he can get a higher number on the contract.
  18. Agreed, I just shook my head when I read that 7yr thing.
  19. I still think Pavano deserves another year. I always like to give a player at least 2 years in NY before I decide he needs to go. There needs to be an adjustment year, plus he was injured most of the year. SO I wouldnt label him mediocre, just as someone who had a bad year. I expect good things from him next year. I'll give you Wright though.
  20. I personally dont think it would be as bad as everyone says. I think that he would be put in his place very early. I could see Jorge screaming at him in the clubhouse or something. Jeter definately wouldnt tolerate any of Bradley's s***, and if Tino was still here then forget about it, Bradley would be an angel. (For those that dont know, Tino is a hardass and has no problem killing clubhouse cancer. Dont let his public persona/appearance as a "nice guy" fool you.) Besides, Joe has always worked well with strong personalities like that throughout the years.
  21. No, still no blood testing.
  22. btw, wuts with the sig. I dont get it. I know you've had your share of discussions with the Brooklynites on BBF, but I still dont understand.
  23. umm...no thanks No way I give up Pavano for Milton. We would be better off waiting until he is not tendered and then sign him on the open market rather than trade Pavano for him. The Dodgers will be willing to part with him for far less i think.
  24. 3 weeks after mara died, Trisch dies. Link Man, one title I would DEFINATELY not like to hold is owner/co-owner of the New York Football Giants.
