  1. Rog' sure does look good today.
  2. Wow..I know i'm late but this is the first i'm hearing of this. Kind of shocking, but makes sense.
  3. I feel a trip to Boston approaching in my veins. Time to hit up eBay, I reckon. ....I was at Giants Stadium for Bamboozle this weekend, so I didnt find out right away. When I got to my car at like 11:30 last night I noticed I had a message from my girlfriend and she was screaming. So after a restless night, and a late morning I figured I would chime in. Mostly everybody here knows how much I love Rog, so i'm certainly satisfied. I'll refrain from rubbing it in, I suppose. ...just a side note though, it occurred to me that since Hughes was placed on the DL while on the active roster, he will probably stick around here in NY for a little bit until he begins to rehab. Having Roger around to show him some things will probably help him out quite a bit, or at least I anticipate that to be the case. Roger has stated how much he enjoys working with young pitchers and whatnot, so i'm sure he'd be delighted to work with Phil. Despite the record, our results against the Sox, our place in the standings, and all of our injuries; today, all is well in Yankee Land!
  4. hahah..thanks. Didn't even realize lol. I guess at this point I don't even realize when I mis-spell little, insignificant words like that. lol Just been busy with life I suppose. Haven't really had as much time to roam cyber-space as I used to, or as I would like to. I still check in from time to time, and hopefully I can get back here with some form of regularity.
  5. While it is a picture perfect scenario from our perspective, there still exists the possibility that he chooses to stay in Houston, or even return to Boston. I agree with you that, in my opinion, the best option for him would be to come to NY, to rejoin his buddy Andy and to make up the past 3 seasons he spent with Houston to the Yankee fans by riding off into the sunset in pinstripes like we thought he did in 2003. And in doing so, hopefully bringing that nice big trophy decorated with 30 waving flags back to the Bronx, and a third ring to his finger. Time will soon tell though.
  6. I'd probably start waving my white flag. ...or root for him on a start to start basis, as long as it's not against the Yankees. But in doing that, I have to hope that the rest of the rotation just implodes as it is struck with awe due to the mere presence of the Rocket. Then, we might be in pretty good shape until the stretch run.
  7. Definately an intriguing scenario. Definately would be fun to watch.
  8. Bean is a guy I like. If given a chance I think he could do a good job as a Major League reliever. It's nice when he gets the rare callup to be able to watch him first-hand.
  9. I'm trying not to get so worked up this early in the season. At this point, we should consider significant injuries inevitable. They seem to occur early in each of the past 4 seasons. I'm confident that once we get everyone back, and everything in order that we'll be fine. All of your points are valid ones, but to this point, we've been beating the teams we need to beat and our offense has carried us well. Now obviously that's not gonna hold water all season, or when we play good teams, as we saw this weekend. I'm comfortable for now with our rotation considering the injuries. Hopefully Wang will provide some much needed relief to the pen now that he's back and filling his spot in the rotation. I'm becoming more and more comfortable with Igawa everytime I see him pitch. I think he'll be a fine 5th starter (or 4th for that matter) this year as he gets everything under control and picks up the experience he needs to contribute to establishing a strong comfort level for Kei. Now granted, right now our bullpen needs a break and a half, and probably probably won't get it due to the combination of Igawa's inexperience and Torre's reluctance to let the starter try and work out of a jam. But I think that over the next few week's as we start to get everybody back that we'll start to see things falling into place. I'm not gonna panic unless I see that this is occuring with a team at full health. But I dont think it will. With the exception of this weekend up in Beantown we've gotten off to a rather respectable start considering our circumstances, and I feel that everything will fall well into place. ...one thing that would help considerably though is Roger. Thankfully it's almost May and he is expected to make a decision within the next month or so.
  10. Yeah, he's been a big part of our bullpen so far this year. I am pleasantly surprised with what I have seen of him so far this year. Already he has surpassed my expectations. I honestly thought when the trade happened that he would be a bust and offer no contributions to the bullpen. I'm glad I was wrong....so far. There's still a lot of ball to be played, and hopefully he keeps it up.
  11. ZHopefully Sanchez can bounce back strong like a lot of pitchers do nowadays. I'm confident he'll be ok. As for the trades, I can't complain about either. Getting rid of those two egos and contracts was well worth it, regardless of who we got. In these cases though, it doesn't matter because I think we made out pretty good in both trades.
  12. I'll definately be watching. I've been taking in any Spring Training games I could get on the dish the past few weeks in anticipation for this night. Better believe i'm psyched for this game tonight, and then going to the Stadium for Opening Day tomorrow.
  13. You got me. As soon as I saw the thread title, before even clicking on the link I went and turned ESPNEWS on to see.
  14. I agree with everything you said. Although I did like the idea of Pratt making the team. Either way it works out fine as I have also been supportive of Nieves the past year or so as well. I'm a little disappointed about losing Phillips just because he is more versatile than Phelps, as he can play both 3rd and second in a jam, but it's not too much of a loss considering Phelps's spring. As for Rasner, before ST I said that I think he has a chance of being a big player for the Yankees this year, and hopefully this is the start of it. Time will tell though.
  15. No, but it'll still be a tough lineup, no doubt. As for Julio, he's obviously got talent, throws the ball hard, and is still pretty young; however he has been unable to piece it all together, and like previously stated, there is no way he'll be able to put it all together in Boston. He couldn't get it done the last time he was in the AL East, there's no way he'll be able to in the Boston environment.
  16. No. It's GREAT to have baseball back. Between the Mets and Sox games yesterday to the Yankee game today and the BC/Sox game tomorrow night, i'm having an amazing week!! Now I can't wait to get out of school so I can get home and see the rest of the game.
  17. No. Please tell me you didn't just say that...and with a straight face, nonetheless. ...whatever, this shouldnt be too big an issue. The way it's looking he should be fine. Might as well not get too worked up over it until there is something to worry about.
  18. Hughes is no longer on the 40 man, and Colter Bean is back on it (according to Yankees.com). How did this work out?
  19. I'm not very surprised. Hope it works out well for Boomer. Now that Piazza's gone, I assumehe'll take his 33 back. 21 looked weird on him last year :dunno:
  20. Weaver for Brown, at the time, was considered a very good deal, conbsidering Brown, a big name, successful pitcher in the latter stages of his career would be coming to the Yankees for a year or 2, and we would be able to dump the colossal mistake that was Jeff Weaver, who we would have been stuck with for an extended amount of time. And Soriano, a below average fielder who strikes out and doesnt walk for one of the best players, argueably Top 5, in the history of the game sounded pretty sweet at the time, and honestly, still does. Honestly, although I agree that it's smart to keep him, I wouldn't mind sending RJ back to Arizona, or anywhere for that matter, if we can get some relief help and some young guys. We have plenty of potential candidates to fill his void on a potentially great pitching staff. Both Rasner and Karstens can do it, or even perhaps a Henn type, or something. Or also, we still have Igawa and Pavano. Maybe having a spot open for him will motivate Pavano to turn it up in the spring and he turns out to be alright. And who knows with Igawa.
  21. I wouldnt mind Dougie in pinstripes. When these rumors first surfaced I wasnt sure how I felt about it, considering his negative words regarding the Yankees in a radio interview i remember hearing the night he was traded by the Sox to the Mets. He's a nice player who plays stellar defense.
  22. I've ALWAYS liked Marte, especially when he was with the White Sox. I think it would be great for the Yankees to bring him back to the organization. As much as I love Luis Sojo, seeing how Damaso Marte turned out makes me a little upset that we sent him packing in that deal.
  23. I dont think this can be taken at all seriously. Had Leyritz considered a comeback in say 2003, or MAYBE 2004 I wouldn't feel this way. But now, prior to the 2007 season, this is a complete joke. I doubt he can do anything for you on the offensive side of the ball, and he was never quite known for his glove. The only plus about Leyritz, in my opinion, is his versatility. If he catches on somewhere, i'll certainly be rooting for him; but i'm not expecting that anytime soon.
