  1. Yeah just those 3 unearned runs he gave up which almost cost us the game. Also I know Seanez has pitched better but his ERA is still worse than Tavarez.
  2. Honestly anyone that boos Pedro isn't a real Red Sox fan, there I said it. If I was at the park that game and someone booed him near me they would get a beatdown. Honestly thats how good the guy was for the Sox. It also doesn't matter what the player wants in terms of team on their HOF hat as a committee now decides since a couple players tried to get bonuses by promising to wear some random team's hat.
  3. The question is if the contract in Boston was to be prorated or not. Obviously if it wasn't going to be then he left a lot of money on the table. If it was also prorated then he got more money to stay in Houston.
  4. And Matt Clement hasn't been getting OWNED? Livan is probably an upgrade over Clement or whoever happens to be in the #5 spot these days. He's also pitched well lately, his last 4 starts he's allowed 3 or less ER. Hernandez would be an upgrade over what we currently have in the rotation.
  5. How does it give Manny or Ortiz an extra shot? I would think Youk getting on base more often than Crisp would give them an extra shot since Youk will be on base more often, extend innings more often, and make less outs. I understand the speed argument but the Sox can also pinch run with willie harris once Youk walks in the 9th as well you know. Crisp had a .345 OBP last year compared to Youk's OBP of .400 over his career and .437 OBP this year. It doesn't matter how fast the runner is when Manny and Papi are hitting 80 HR's a year and for those 80 HR's I would like more runners on base which will happen with Youk in front of them instead of Crisp.
  6. I think Livan would be the best option right now as Hudson seems like the only other legit SP on the market and he would require much more in terms of prospects I would assume.
  7. take a look at his stats (Glaus) posted above In terms of VORP this year: Glaus - 16.8 Lowell - 16.6 AROD - 16.4 Blalock - 14.6
  8. Looking at it objectively Lowell is in the top 3 in 3B this year but its hard to tell whos the "best" so far. Glaus and AROD are both there with him if you consider just offense. Here is how Lowell ranks by AL 3B this year (Rank is Lowell's Rank respective to other AL 3rd basemen) : Category - Rank - Leader OPS - 2nd - Glaus SLG - 2nd - Glaus OBP - 3rd - AROD, Blalock AVG - 1st Total Bases - 2nd - Glaus 2B - 1st HR - 8th - Glaus, AROD RBI - 7th - Glaus, AROD R - 6th - AROD, Glaus The only categories that Lowell leads among AL 3B is batting average and doubles. While good he still is still behind Glaus in OPS, SLG, Total Bases, HR, RBI, R and behind AROD in OBP, HR, RBI, and R. Obviously defense is important but thats not how All-Star teams are usually constructed. Like I said before Lowell is top 3 but I wouldn't say he's number 1.
  9. Why do you care what the Astros are paying Clemens this year? Check out the stats - he had a pretty good year last year and probably deserves to be paid like that. Its about pro-rated to what he made last year.
  10. Ah the Billy Beane approach as stated in Moneyball - personally I would go after Livan Hernandez. He's the ultimate innings eater and supposedly on the block. Livan would make a great addition to the Former Marlins Club that the Sox have going on. Obviously SS would be a big target but I doubt anyone will really be available. I would take a look at the Angels and see if they would move Cabrera. He is expendable for the Angels and the Sox could absorb his contract. Oh yeah and offer Roger as much money as it takes to get him back in Boston.
  11. Good thing that Babe didn't have to face any black players too huh? Josh Gibson is said to have had 800 career HR's and more HR's in one season than Ruth. Ruth is still a great player but Gibson might have been the HR king if blacks were allowed to play in MLB.
  12. No offense but RJ probably has amazing postseason stats and I wouldn't take him over many pitchers at this point. The similarity between RJ and Wells is that they are both pretty old, and Wells has pitched how many innings this year? Once he pitches more than 10 innings this season maybe I will have some faith in him.
  13. Good to see Coco back in the lineup. And no stealing 3B for a while.
  14. first ballot HOF with a Sox cap
  15. As of right now Tek is the second worse hitter in the starting lineup - he really should be batting 8th but I doubt Tito will move him there because hes the captain. Lowell should be batting 5th at this point - he leads the team in SLG. Assuming Coco leading off this is my lineup: Crisp Loretta Ortiz Ramirez Lowell Youk Nixon Tek Gonzalez -I dont expect this lineup at all though as I see Trot staying in the #5 spot. Youk actually has just 5 less RBI's than Manny which is crazy since he has AGonz batting in front of him. I agree with mtbykr on the lineup that will actually happen.
  16. Williams was in left for most of his career - he was very slow but played the wall well. Williams absolutly has to be on the all time team though.Manny should be in there as well if your doing top 3 OF.
  17. If it helps increase player salary I honestly don't care. If the team ever got to the point of an extremely low salary and increased ads then I would start to get pissed. As of now I don't have a problem with it. The only part of the monster with the ads is the bottom anyways so I doubt the bounces would go much different since its probably juts going to bounce right into the ground anyways.
  18. I don't think it stands for Who But because they ads always say "Who But WB Mason" so they would just be repeating it twice (Who But Who But Mason).
  19. Craig Hansen - jk but he actually would be a better option than Ginter or Alvarez. The Jays will absolutely kill a soft tossing lefty like Alvarez and I'm a huge Alvarez fan.
  20. Thats hilarious - Joe Torre the chess player. Torre is an awful in game manager and most Yankee fans hate that part of his managing style. They also hate his loyalty to vets similar to what Tito does sometimes. Baseball managers for the most part are overrated. Most teams will win and lose based on talent and timely hitting/pitching. Most of the time the only real decision to make (in the AL) is when to make pitching moves. Other than that theres not a whole lot to do in game as you don't make many lineup moves and the Sox don't really steal bases.
  21. Like someone else mentioned the original wall for Boston was all ads and thats it. The ads are at least green and blend in so I dont care. I care more about the big f*cking Coke bottle on top of the monster personally.
  22. I don't think theres going to be much of a difference between any of the 3 options (I dont consider Texas a real option) in terms of cash. Its going to be where he wants to go I think.
  23. Ebay or stubhub are your best bets if your going to do it online. Stubhub might be a little cheaper but Im not sure
  24. No way the Angels would do that deal but if they would the Sox should do that all day. Yes the Sox are in 1st place but long term that deal is amazing. I don't really see the match for Figgins (super utility player but too good to not play full time). Meanwhile Kendrick and Wood are the Angels top 2 prospects - Wood was ranked as the #3 prospect in baseball and Kendrick was the #12 ranked prospect at the begining of the year by Baseball America. SS Wood (21) had a 1.055 OPS last year in A+ with 43 HR's and this year in AA he's batting .249/.345/.486/.831 with 9 HR. 2B Kendrick (almost 23) had a 1.059 OPS in A+ and .961 in AA last year. This year in AAA Kendrick is hitting .373/.400/.591/.991 with lots of doubles. As has already been stated Shields is an awesome RP who could close. It would also create some free money to sign Clemens and other FA's in the offseason. I'm one of Manny's biggest fans as you can probably tell by the name but you have to do whats best for the team. Fans would freak over that deal because it doesn't help that much short term (although Wood might be better than AGonz now)
