  1. Well Rowand of two seasons ago would be more than acceptable. He had a solid OPS and 22 HR as well as amazing defense. But the Rowand of last year not so much. I wonder what Jason Michaels would cost for CF?
  2. Well just saying for right now I said ONE of the best. That is if we did, Ramirez/Nixon/Marte from right to left. The Yankees will have the most productive. I'd imagine that the A's, Mets, Devil Rays, Angels, Braves would also all be up there.
  3. Marte to LF, which is what the FO is thinking of doing anyway. That might mean Nixon in CF and Marte in RF. Which gives us the worst defensive OF in baseball, but possibly one of the most offensive.
  4. Damn he'll be slacking then...:dunno:
  5. I knew he was tall, but idk about his pitching repotiore, or anything like that. But I'm guessing BA will project him presently as a #1 SP.
  6. From http://www.mlbtraderumors.com
  7. Here we are: Lastings Milledge: Projects to be a solid MLB Player Brian Bannister: 4 Starter Phillip Hughes: 2/3 Starter Michael Pelfry: No idea, has to throw a pitch first Those are the only four prospects that project to MLB regulars.
  8. Grady Sizemore & Jake Westbrook for 3 months of Bartolo Colon. Enough said.
  9. I agree, and again we don't need Willie ".666 OPS" Taveras. Plus, as ORS has said, the Astros have good depth, and Preston Wilson will be playing LF, Taveras CF, Lane RF, Berkman 1B. So yea. . .
  10. I'd argue that. He left DC as a mess, with no farm system to speak of. He came to the Mets and dealt off every prospect not named Pelfrey (he wasn't signed lol), Humber (injured and couldn't) and Bannister. Milledge he didn't trade either, but I started off with the SP prospects, for that's the keyf or any team is cheap young pitching. Omar Minaya has overpaid, whether by prospects or money, for aging ball players. Martinez, no matter how much we love him, isn't worth a 4 year contract. Beltran was overpaid. Lo Duca was over paid (prospects), Delgado is leaving his prime. Wagner shouldn't have gotten a 5 year contract and much more. Minaya is an idiot playing with $$.
  11. It's a great thought isn't it?
  12. My thoughts exactly. Loretta in an OFF year had a .360 OB%, which for those whom don't know and accept batting average as the universal, is very good. Taveras' .291 BA is good, but his .324 OB% is not. Youkilis and his .364 OB% is very solid. Damon had the same OB% as both Loretta and Youk. Renteria didn't. So I think Loretta and Youk at the top only improves our offense.
  13. Anyways back to the topic: I don't think Taveras is the answer at all, and certaintly not for the Astros asking price.
  14. :wtf:
  15. And now where was the point in this post and the one below it other to provoke flaming and trash talking? You aren't even bringing up any points besides trying to make fun of me. And in which case you're doing a pathetic job.
  16. Yea you will. Vetrans committee can always vote him in.
  17. :thumbdown :thumbdown :thumbdown
  18. You're right that is my bad. I'm at work and I rush things sometimes, not to mention I'm horrible at math and do everything by calculator. Still 24% is bad. I wouldn't want that and a .324 OB% and a .666 OPS leading off for my playoff contending team.
  19. I know and I was poking fun at Minaya's love for Latino ball players which is very well documentated.
  20. Why don't you get off my back? And if you want to discuss what I post, PM me?
  21. It was a thought that I said I started, and I basically said it was far fetched. But with enough SP, it could conceive them to deal him.
  22. Taveras 34 SB, 11 CS, that means he got caught 32 percent of the time he tried. Not good to give away outs. He also had a pathetic .324 OB% for a lead off hitter. Youkilis had a .364. Taveras had a .666 OPS in a HITTERS park. That = bad. You talked about his defense. Which he is pretty good at. But it doesn't justify his bat. I'd bat him 9th in the order and just let him work his glove out. However I think Adam Stern, someone we don't have to give up a player for would do about the same. Higher average or higher on base. I believe ON BASE percentage means he is ON BASE more, giving him MORE opportunities to score. Oh yea, I'm right. SB is overrated too, just to let you know. Otherwise Jose Reyes should be a top 5 SS in the game, whereas he is one of the worst. As someone already posted, Payton was not happy with a back up roll (don't know whom he thinks he should have started in front of?). But back in a starting role his relationship will be fine and is a fine stop gap player. You said he is a bench/platoon guy. Again whom do you think he should have started in front of? Nixon, Damon or Ramirez? Roberts is a fine STOP GAP CFer. WILL COME CHEAP. They would trade him for Wells, but again if you read anything that goes along with trades lately, the Padres want to package Roberts with Woody Williams. I wouldn't do that. Me grow up? You haven't proven a thing besides crying and bitching about Payton or Roberts. What do you want? Jim Edmonds or Andruw Jones to fall in your lap? Sorry for having a life. I post regularly at http://www.forums.netsports.com. Go there if you want to see "credibility" if you don't think I haven't shown things in the past. Next time you guys want to talk about player evaluation, don't bring a knife to a gun fight, suckas.
  23. Peter Gammons isn't a respectable source, that's the point. The man talks out his old wrinkly butt. So what if Gammons is a HOF, just means he pestered GM's and players the most. His trade "predictions" never come to light. I never take what Gammons says to be of any value. There is no way to say who will be better Schilling or RJ. Schilling's bullpen stint was more to help him get back into the routine of his motion. He didn't throw much more than fastballs and sliders. It was going to take Schilling 14-18 months to fully recover from his ankle surgery. RJ has no knee cartilidge in one of his knees. So we'll all have to wait and see.
  24. OOOO!!! GOOD INTELLIGENT POST!
  25. He's just scared. A scared little pin striped fan that doesn't know what it's like to lose. He probably wasn't old enough to remember the 80's or early 90's.
