  1. Here's the thing. I've posted his minor league numbers and his MLB debut season. Never ever has he shown to have any shread of plate discipline. Without that you aren't a good hitter (for the most part). Unless he becomes Vlad Guerrero with his ability to swing away and swing for power, then he is pretty much an average ballplayer. One ballplayer that comes to mind when I think of Cano is Tony Bautista. Is Bautista a great player?
  2. But you just said chemistry is overrated, therefor being a clubhouse manager means little. And he is pretty mind boggling with game decisions.
  3. He's essentially Jose Reyes minus speed/defense plus HR.
  4. My thoughts exactly. He was never impressive in the minors, and his OB sucked pretty much all throughout anything he's done.
  5. Then Joe Torre being even a good manager is actually assinine...
  6. If he learns plate discipline...
  7. Sorry, I was just saying stereotypically.
  8. But isn't that Torre's calling. As a clubhouse God, and working the lines between the clubhouse and St. George? Seriously Torre has done so little with so much.
  9. You mean just like Hideki Irabu, Orlando Hernandez, Andy Pettite for example?
  10. Dustin Pedrioa will be fine as a MLB SS defensively. College baseball is essentially minor league baseball. You can't accurately measure bats in college (except for OB% for the most part, due to metallic bats), but you can see a guys range, glove work and arm. Pedrioa is top notch. Think David Eckstein with more plate discipline and more pop.
  11. :wtf: A little off topic here. Robinson Cano will never ever scare me. And let me tell you why: .277/.329/.424/.753 Never showed that he has any plate discipline. Sure he's got some pretty good pop in his bat, and will likely continue to develop that, but I don't think he's ever going to be anything more than average. He is very young but until he starts to show any apparent increases in his plate discipline I will never think of him as projecting to be good. David Wright at that age had incredible plate discipline, Andy Marte, Kevin Youkilis are all good examples of good plate discpline. Unless you want to call Cano the next Tejada or Guerrero, I wouldn't put much more on this player than a lesser Alfonso Soriano, which I'll take to face anyday. Plus in his minor league career 135BB/260K and his MLB season, 19BB/83K. Again no plate discipline. Cano has little leather too. No reason to be afraid of this kid.
  12. Just who in the hell do you think you are? Want to talk about question makrs on your team? SP Mike Mussina SP Chein Ming Wang SP Shawn Chacon MR Tanyon Sturtze MR Octavio Dotel C Jorge Posada RF Gary Sheffield Not to even mention Johnson's knee. Don't come around here acting like a big shot, ok?
  13. mlbtraderumors.com is just there for a good laugh. I doubt the Sox are willing to take on Tejada's contract w/o removing Ramirez'. Pedrioa will be the starting SS opening day.
  14. First off check this out: http://forums.netsports.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=51250&perpage=25&pagenumber=2 This comes from our own beloved BoSox Rule from another message boards, which actually proves with statistics that Crisp was overall better than Damon last year. Next, Epstein and Francona have said Pedrioa is their starting SS. Gonzalez if waived only costs the Red Sox about $750,000, chump change. Gonzalez is only back up if Pedroia bombs out in Spring Training. 1). CF Crisp (s) 2). 2B Loretta ® 3). DH Ortiz (l) 4). LF Ramirez ® 5). RF Nixon (l) 6). C Varitek (s) 7). 3B Lowell ® 8). 1B Youkilis ® 9). SS Pedroia ® Lester will probably be called up mid-season as his ETA predicts. Hansen, Declarmen and Meredith will all get shots this year too. If Murphy breaks out at AAA, look for his call up in case of a Nixon injury.
  15. If you read the Simmons article with the Schilling interview (also posted here) Schilling does say his ankle felt prohibitive until about the last 15 days of the regular season.
  16. They both suck, who cares
  17. I still think its a bad trade.
  18. The latest includes Riske/Bard/Crisp to Boston for Marte/Mota/Shoppach That is a bad deal.
  19. The reason why I don't like this trade is that Shoppach is already better than Bard. Riske is only a modest upgrade over Mota, and Marte is David Wright V2. I hate the trade.
  20. Griffey is not the answer.
  21. Homegrown you mean from the farm system or drafted. I conclude that "homegrown" is just from the farm or directly from someone elses (in the case that I'm about to post at least): The 2006 Florida Marlins
  22. And I totally agree. Marte/Lester/Papelbon/Hansen/Declarmen/Meredith/Alvarez all project to be ready then. Along with Shoppach and Youkilis. If Ellsbury continues to tear up he and Pedrioa will all be MLB starters
  23. How about Bronson Arroyo for Ryan Church? DC has basically sat Church down after he tore up everything in his debut til he got injured. I'd like to see Church possibly more than Reed.
  24. Which is a bad idea. Jeff DaVannon. Eric Byrnes would have been nice too. But DaVannon fits the mold we need. Arroyo for Ryan Church anyone?
