  1. "nasty breaking ball ties him up" ya 2-0 count he took it really tied up. ive gotta say buck and mccarver would be better
  2. garrett anderson still swinging the bat gotta love him
  3. whatever that music is that tbs keeps playing is terrible
  4. they should retire bellhorn's 12
  5. They let him go because of sexual harassment issues
  6. we still have 3 super bowls this decade
  7. Chamberlain-Lester have to be one-two on this list. Chamberlain's stuff is as nasty as anyone's, and he can control it well enough to dominate. If he stays healthy he can win multiple Cy Youngs. Lester's already proven to be a workhorse who can consistently win. His stuff isn't as fantastic as Joba's or even Buchholz's, but so far he's been the best of the group. Maybe he won't have as great a career as Joba, but I'd take him on my team in a heartbeat. Buchholz can be added to the discussion once he figures himself out; we know he has the talent, he just needs to put it all together.
  8. I think Youkilis gets a lot of votes too, especially if he can get hot down the stretch. But it seems the consensus right now is Quentin, and I agree.
  9. I hope he does great; he's fun to watch. But if he does go out and collapse in the playoffs, what can we say for him?
  10. bring up zak farkes for catcher i dont like sheets in any sort of long term deal; the guys just too injury prone. and sabathia will get overpaid by someone, hopefully not the sox. remember how he blew up in the playoffs last year? 3 G, 15.1 IP, 15 ER, 21 H, and 13 BBs i'm not saying that he's not a good pitcher, but if he were to repeat those numbers in a boston uniform in october he'd be blasted by everyone. and mind you that was in his cy young year
  11. I don't think it's the end of their story; they'll definitely be back next year as a strong contender, and even if they slip they're in great shape. I love Longoria as a player; I think he's gonna make a ton of all-star games.
  12. I wonder how the fans will treat him, based upon his HGH use. He says he used it only with a prescription, but I feel most Boston fans are very anti-roiding of any kind.
  13. I don't think you can with the lack of rotational depth at the moment. If Wake was healthy then maybe, but we'd be in a huge bind even if Masterson took his spot.
  14. I don't see the Yanks springing 25 million a year on an aging Manny Ramirez, especially when it seems like they're trying to get away from the high-priced free agents. But then again, who knows?
  15. MLB made something like six billion dollars last year, and I don't know what sort of revenue sharing they have (if any), but there should be some sort of cap/floor. The problem is that players would definitely be against a cap, while enough owners would definitely be against a floor that neither has a good chance of happening anytime soon. It's hard to argue for a floor when teams like the Marlins can compete (and even win) every few years with such a small payroll. People can say that a floor would help the competitive balance, but there's enough of a legitimate argument against it that there's virtually no chance of either happening soon. On the Manny investigations thing, I don't see how the commissioner's office could do anything other than suspend Boras or fine Manny. They can't nix the trade for the obvious reasons, they can't suspend Manny because all that does is hurt the Dodgers, and I doubt they would, say, award compensatory draft picks to the Sox. If they do find anything, I doubt they'd do anything more than suspend Boras. The players' union would probably fight against a Boras suspension because of what he does for the players. It would be a messy situation for all parties, so I don't think anything major will come from it.
  16. It's a good move for Tampa though, just makes their pen that much stronger.
  17. Remember when he hit 35+ homers in four straight years?
  18. Anaheim has the talent to choke in the playoffs. It's still wide open there's like fifteen teams with a legitimate shot at the playoffs and they can all say they have a shot at the Series.
  19. It would be a fine signing, but he's very unlikely to do anything for them.
  20. prior is a really good pitcher. the cubs were possibly the biggest group of underachievers this year. they had the best staff in the league, and theyll probably be better next year with a healthy prior. this kid is well on his way to being one of the top 3 pitchers in the league, if he can stay healthy, that is
