This is somewhat off topic but.....does anyone think a prospects age is of extreme importance to Theo Epstein??
Jonathan Papelbon (24 when brought up)
Manny Delcarmen (24 this season)
Jermaine Van Buren (25)
Adam Stern (25 last season when brought up)
Lenny DiNardo (25 last season when brought up)
Kevin Youkilis (25 when brought up)
...the only exceptions I can think of off the top of my head include Craig Hansen last season (very limited time), Abe Alvarez (struggled a lot), Cla Meredith (we all know how that went), and Hanley Ramirz (not sure he got any at-bats).
This could be nothing....however playing in Boston takes a real mature athlete and I think there is a chance the Red Sox really look to develop these guys up to the ages of 24-25 before they really let them loose. If that is the case I wonder if that limits the chance they are willing to take on Lester and Hansen playing this season.
