  1. Yeah you guys deffinitly gave up prospects in the same realm as Anibal Sanchez and Hanley Ramirez.....great point?
  2. A lot of teams make the attempt....the Red Sox (2nd highest payroll) do it once in a great while. Its not an occurance every offseason and every trade deadline. Almost the entire Yankee team is made up from rip-off deals and out bidding every team in the free agency market.
  3. Keep trying to talk up CJ Henry. His numbers in A-ball suck and I don't think any of that crap the Yanks gave the Phillies will do anything at the major league level. The Phillies have always needed pitching and they didn't address that in this trade. Other teams could have given them better young pitching. Something that would have helped them down the road. It was a terrible trade for the Phillies but they made it as a business decision (money) and not the best interest for the team (talent). The Yankees have an overwhelming advantage on every team because they are the only ones that can do a trade based on money alone.
  4. How many #2 hitters have we had the last 4 years?? Mark Bellhorn, Bill Mueller, Orlando Cabrera, Mark Loretta, Todd Walker, Edgar Renteria.......its not going to mess with the team chemistry as long as that player can get on base for Ortiz and Manny. If you added Julio Lugo I would suggest having him leadoff and having Coco Crisp batting 2nd (where he has had most success in his career). 1. Julio Lugo 2. Coco Crisp 3. David Ortiz 4. Manny Ramirez 5. Trot Nixon 6. Jason Varitek 7. Mike Lowell 8. Kevin Youkilis 9. Alex Gonzalez .....speed, power, OBP.....that lineup is just fine and the Red Sox could add some pitching. I'm not saying Julio Lugo is the guy we would get if ANY deal were to occur (we could get someone better) but again....we can't critique any deals until they happen
  5. We gave them a MLB-ready young left-handed pitcher. It didn't work out for Fossum but there was a time he had ability. Who the hell is CJ Henry?? Is he a SS?? Makes sense for a team that has Rollins and Utley playing the middle infield for the next 7-10 years.
  6. I'm not a real fan of that trade mostly because I'm such a big Mike Lowell fan. I don't want to move Alex Gonzalez or Mike Lowell....THAT is where our great defense has been coming from.
  7. What if Mark Loretta can bring in another excellent arm?? That arm can be a huge difference for us and we may find a comperable replacement for 2nd base. You can't make a judgement call for a trade that has not happened and you don't know any of the other players involved. Just relax.
  8. Its going to be Corey Lidle that does it.....or uhhh
  9. It is a good deal despite the fact its crap. The Yankees continue to be the worst thing in baseball. Feeding off the teams that don't have the same market and money as the Yanks. I mean look at this projected lineup: 1. Johnny Damon 2. Derek Jeter 3. Jason Giambi 4. Alex Rodriguez 5. Bobby Abreu 6. Gary Sheffield 7. Hideki Matsui 8. Jorge Posada 9. Robinson Cano .....it might be cheaper to just purchase the championship from Major League Baseball.
  10. Mark Loretta is out of the starting lineup today.....
  11. Thank you...some people are just too damn serious around here
  12. This could be misdirection and instead Theo Epstein is going to acquire Miguel Tejada instead of Julio Lugo to play 2nd. We will give Baltimore a couple low-A ball players and take on all of Tejada's salary .....why not? The Yankees were able to do it.
  13. Exactly, I made a huge stink about Lugo over Gonzalez but I will not say the same thing about Loretta. Mark Loretta has as much range as Mark Bellhorn did. He doesn't make errors at 2nd because he can't get to the difficult hits. You make less errors at 2nd anyways as compared to SS.
  14. Rheal Cormier would be a great lefty setup man with Mike Timlin....and if we traded Mark Loretta...all signs point to adding Julio Lugo who is better offensively.
  15. If Abreu doesn't want his option picked up, waived his no trade clause, and the Phillies get average prospects for Abreu and Lidle??? .....that doesn't make any sense....someone had to give the Phillies a better offer.
  16. If the Yanks somehow get healthy there lineup would be: 1. Johnny Damon CF 2. Derek Jeter SS 3. Jason Giambi 1B 4. Alex Rodriguez 3B 5. Bobby Abreu RF 6. Gary Sheffield DH 7. Hideki Matsui LF 8. Robinson Cano 2B 9. Jorge Posada C
  17. So basically the Philadelphia Phillies just gave them to the Yankees. I wonder how much money Pat Gillick got for his own personal pocket.
  18. More speculation on my part: The St. Louis Cardinals have apparent interest in Rheal Cormier. If thats the case then I could see the Cardinals getting Cormier then shipping him to Boston for Mark Loretta. In a sense: Mark Loretta for Rheal Cormier .....that would be a three team deal and then the Red Sox would make a move for Julio Lugo. Esentially that makes it a 4 team deal. I'm just trying to put pieces together.
  19. What about trading Mark Loretta to Houston for Brad Lidge.....they need offense.....I know Lidge has struggled but you can't deny his track record. I think he would be one hell of a setup man
  20. I'm not sure I see San Diego being interested in Mark Loretta. They have Green and Barfield who are both good players. Mark Loretta is not an upgrade over either of them. There is another team somewhere that we are missing. I have heard St. Louis in rumors but they may be more interested in Ron Belliard. Either way I think we could expect bullpen help out of a Loretta deal.
  21. This is the latest rumor on Julio Lugo from Will Carroll at BP
  22. Jayson Stark is reporting that Yankees will acquire Bobby Abreu and Cory Lidle for a bag of dirt (CJ Henry, Steven White). A great quote off of rotoworld:
  23. Dave Dellucci maybe?? Pretty good hitter....I don't know how he is in the field.
  24. They already turned it down. Who could blame them
  25. Do you even know who Mark Buehrle is?? He was 2-0 in the playoffs last season...he is an ACE. Forget what his numbers are right now its Mark Buehrle. One of the better most consistant lefty starters in the game. His career record is 94-62 with a 3.75 ERA. I would take him over Barry Zito and Jason Schmidt who got a lot of talk leading up to the trade deadline.
