Thats your comeback?? Please look up the word "sarcastic"?? Uhh you're no fun...I claim victory and I'm out for the day....have fun in that basement chief.
-
Yeah we won a World Series before you were born so we lost it a long time ago as well. Were you referring to real virginity cause I lost mine to your mother a long time ago...and now you're here....living in a large basement if I'm not mistaken

I have to say that I obviously wasn't around for all 86 years. That victory was clearly more enjoyable then any of the Yankee World Series wins. The reason was because of the buildup and how amazing the fans are. The city of Boston was a HUGE party for that parade and I'll never forget it. Deffinitly a feeling no Yankee fan could ever have no matter how much they will disagree with me. They only wish they could have a taste of what we enjoyed so much. Completely washed away all tragedies Red Sox Nation had encountered for so long. One of the greatest moments in sports history was that season and certainly those playoffs by giving the self proclaimed "greatest team in sports history" the biggest collapse in sports history.

Theo Epstein Resigns as GM (merged threads)
SchillingIsTheNatural replied to BoSox84's topic in Boston Red Sox Talk
Interesting blog by Buster Olney.... “In conversation with folks in the game yesterday, this is what they hear: Theo Epstein, feeling great regret over walking away from the Red Sox job, sent feelers through channels to Boston ownership that he's interested in talking about coming back -- and so far, that overture has been rebuffed. “You could understand John Henry's predicament in this. Ownership was extremely unhappy with the way Epstein handled his contract negotiations, according to others in the game, and then by leaving abruptly, Epstein helped to create a situation in which Larry Lucchino has been damaged and pounded in the court of public opinion. To bring back Epstein now, after all that has transpired, would be another blow to Lucchino, because it would create the perception that Epstein had won out in his request for a change in how some decisions are made within the front office. “Henry could have solved this months ago, of course, if he had simply stepped in and brokered a solution between Epstein and Lucchino. But that's not his style.” -

I had a lot of fun getting this together.... Summarization of "He Hate Me" points: 1) Standing in the field for 3 hours is very difficult. 2) Late inning pitching is inferior to starting pitching (so Ortiz hits off Rivera who is inferior?) 3) Ortiz didn't hit any clutch hits. It was Manny Ramirez who allowed Ortiz to get them. 4) Manny hits in front of scrubs: Jason Varitek, Bill Mueller, and Trot Nixon?? 5) Ted Williams sucked at baseball 6) David Ortiz is the same as Terrell Owens 7) David Ortiz will finish his career with Mo Vaughn numbers 8) Jason Varitek is a pussy who slaps in a fight (who won that fight?) 9) Quote "The biggest bitch move in the history of baseball is trying to slap another man while wearing a helmet and asorted protective gear." (Or is the biggest bitch move attmepting to cheat and slap a ball away while running to 1st then acting like you didn't do anything wrong?) 10) Quote "The things we do to amuse oursleves after a bad postseason." (how did you do in the postseason?) 11) Catcher's gear is considered "body armor" 12) A-Rod does his talking with his stats and his .133 BA in the postseason. 13) Quote to a girl on a message board "how yooooou doing?" 14) Yankees are not a "here and now group." Lets discuss how players are treated when they show up to NY and don't pan out right away. You go through so many pitchers its clearly "here and now" 15) Watches Molly Wringwald movies ....you might be the biggest idiot on this board -
Alex Rodriguez wins AL MVP

I agree its really hard....I don't know anyone in baseball that can do it other than Alex Rodriguez. I mean 3 hours of work for 162 days. Thats a whole 486 hours of work a year. Man life is tough on him what a warrior. I will say the hardest thing to do in spots is hit a baseball. Can you imagine how difficult it must be to deliver when it matters most? Wow something like that would be "heroic" -

absolutly brilliant Jayson Stark -
You mean these elements....

I love all this talk about....we won the division and crap....did you or did you not finish with the same record as we did this season??? You won the "tie-breaker." Now THAT is something to cheer for. Those who like to say we got swept in the playoffs....yeah well at least we were beaten by the team that won the World Series and made the Angels look silly...who in turn....made your MVP look silly.

So u are gonna cry after all?

If he is on the Yankees...probably by using steroids.

I was hoping you would say that. I was sitting next to them at Nebo and got there autographs before they sat down to eat. Did A-Rod win a gold glove?? No but Jeter did. -

Saw that coming.. No Manny is not the MVP of the Red Sox or the league. He does not place the team first. He wants whats best for him as opposed to whats good for the team. Great hitter and posts huge numbers but I will take David Ortiz over him anyday. Teams tried everything to get David Ortiz out. If I recall....teams would attempt to pitch around David so the coaches worked with Ortiz to stop chasing garbage that was down and away. Amazing...with one of the best hitters all time behind him....teams still wanted to pitch around him. I don't know where all this "gets great pitches to hit" crap comes from. -

Trot Nixon, Joe Torre, and Jorge Posada eating out at Nebo after a Red Sox vs. Yankees game....a topic brought up about how A-Rod doesn't include himself with the team as much as they would like. The Jeter vs. A-Rod brawl in the locker room (that did really happen). A-Rod does not travel with the team half the time...would rather take his own private form of transportation. Remember when the Red Sox were all over A-Rod in the media before the 2005 season and nobody defended him. There are plenty of reasons why the team does not like him and if you don't hear any of the "hate" conversations around New York about A-Rod then you must be deaf. It gets louder and louder everytime the Yankees fail to win another championship. This year it was all over the place with his stink performance in the playoffs. ....I think it will be interesting to hear what people say now and how many jump back on his bandwagon. I also wonder what comments the team will make in honor of his MVP award. After all this was claimed to be Gary Sheffields team (by himself), or has it always been the captains team: Derek Jeter, clearly this team would not be where it is if it wasn't for Mo so he clearly deserved the credit.....nope.....the 2nd or 3rd best player on the team won it. -
You're not gonna cry are you??

Actually I thought that was funny....nice MC Hammer

Alex Rodriguez wins AL MVP
SchillingIsTheNatural replied to riverside sluggers's topic in Other Baseball
Dude you should realize you will not win this. You just won't no matter how hard you try...you wanna hear what a Red Sox fan from NY has to say about it....well here I go.... We can go by the numbers, we can go by the team wins, we can do whatever but when its all said and done both players are about even on every level. They are both all-stars and great players but here is what makes David Ortiz an MVP. Everyone loves the guy...he makes everyone else around him better. I have never, NOT ONCE, heard a bad remark pointed toward David Ortiz. Everyone wants to talk about Manny protecting him in the lineup....EVERY coach talks about how they don't want to let ORTIZ beat them. The only other players in the Major Leagues I hear talks like that are about Albert Pujols and Barry Bonds....A-Rods name never comes up in those discussions. I talk to lots of baseball fans cause you can imagine there aren't a ton of Boston fans out here. I hear lots of hatred toward A-Rod. He isn't a team player, the lockroom doesn't like him, the coaches don't like him....believe it cause its true. There is a reason the team chemistry in NY is so bad...the players don't like him and the fans can't make up there mind about him. ....ask who you would would rather have on there team and who you would want to build around: David Ortiz -

Javier Vazquez wants to be Traded
SchillingIsTheNatural replied to SchillingIsTheNatural's topic in Boston Red Sox Talk
Yes I am, because I'm trying to figure out who out of all these pitchers (high talent but haven't proved much) would be able to take there game to the next level. There are those players who go to a certain team and its such a perfect fit they become even better. Players like Tony Graffanino, David Ortiz, Bill Mueller, etc. show up in Boston then all of a sudden really turn it on. So which of these pitchers who requested a trade or are free agents would be the best fit for our team?? Talent wise I have to say Burnett is the best but is he the best fit for Boston?? Then I have to say Javier Vazquez wants to prove something but can he?? Can a player like Kevin Millwood stay consistant a have another good season?? Can Jared Washburn (as a lefty) be productive at Fenway which is not easy?? There are a ton of questions surrounding all these pitchers which makes it clear, again, this is not a good market for pitchers. So in the end maybe the smart thing to do for the Red Sox is not get involved. -
that is a crazy idea. I guarantee it wouldn't happen though. You can be sure Edgar Renteria is playing SS for us this next year and probably throughout his contract. I'm not sure if its just me but I don't see Juan Pierre, Preston Wilson, or Kenny Lofton being a fit for us. If those are the choices I would bet the Red Sox throw the money at Johnny. Those players have all established themselves (what you see is what you get) and none are better than Damon so I don't see it happening; at least I hope. Kenny Lofton would be used as a bench player for us, Preston Wilson reminds me too much of Jay Payton, and Juan Pierre doesn't have enough power to be in the Red Sox lineup. With a ballpark like Fenway I'm still a fan of how the Red Sox play offense. I wouldn't mind speed but we still need power.

Javier Vazquez wants to be Traded
SchillingIsTheNatural replied to SchillingIsTheNatural's topic in Boston Red Sox Talk
Everyone talks about the money Vazquez would require but isn't that only 2 million more than David Wells?? I thought Wells salary was something around 9 million but I don't know. Certainly at that cost you might as well go after AJ Burnett who I think is better than Vazquez. I have all sorts of feelings about a move with him. First off I like the guy as a pitcher and think he has talent and is a competitor. I also like the attitude he would bring to show teams he can play in a tough situation. On the other side I'm not positive he is the answer, I'm not sure he is any better than the pitchers we have now. I could throw Vazquez in the same mold with Wake Miller, Matt Clement, AJ Burnett, Carl Pavano...etc...players who can be good and show glimpses but you wonder if they can become dominating over a period of time. Guess I'm kinda looking for the slam dunk pitcher and I wonder if he can be that. Only one way to find out I guess. -
My bet would be that Wells really turns it on in Philly. Facing some weaker teams, easy ballpark, and lots of protection in that lineup. On the other hand, I think Abreu is the more complete player and would improve the Toronto offense more than Vernon Wells could. Interesting move....time will tell who would come out better in that deal if it goes down
-
According to ESPN, Vazquez would like to be traded to a team on the east coast for family reasons. He had to travel a lot this past season in Arizona and it really made things difficult for him, his two kids, and his wife. My thoughts....I like this guy and always have. I think he has a great makeup and was an all star pitcher for New York before he struggled in the 2nd half. I remember his quote saying "I'm going to make the Yankees wish they never traded me" (something along those lines). What better way to get back at the Yanks than to pitch for Boston. He would be comfortable living on the east coast with his family, and have great motivation to pitch a big season. At 29 years old he still has plenty of years. I would not mind the Red Sox taking a chance on him. Perhaps David Wells would consider Arizona as opposed to San Diego for a trade. I would like the Red Sox to at least explore this possibility and see where it leads them. I don't think its too late for this guy to be an excellent pitcher.

Ramirez Asks For Trade (merged)
SchillingIsTheNatural replied to Cityofchampions33's topic in Boston Red Sox Talk
One team on the West Coast I find interesting would be Seattle for a destination Manny could go. He didn't mention it but he would be able to get away from the star studded type atmosphere that he seems to hate. The Mariners flat out suck and could really use some changes. Incase these talks to Johnny Damon go sour why not look into the BEST leadoff hitter in the game....Ichiro Suzuki. Another name I would love to have but could be classified with the word "impossible" is Felix the King. He is the future of that team and although they might want to mix things up I doubt that would occur. ....just another team to think about
