Joba, once again, was awful today. This rotation continues to be a concern.
Unbelievable that it was Gaudin facing Ichiro and Branyan, and not Coke. Girardi continues to make poor decision after poor decision.
Got some huge breaks tonight, but it's great to win a game with Sergio Mitre on the mound. As bad as he has been, the Yankees, somehow, are 4-2 in the games he has started.
I think Rivera should be used no matter what today. He has really entered a rough patch as of late, and part of that might be due to sporadic use. It would be nice to get him in back to back games.
I wonder if this is because they're concerned about the rain delay. If they are then it's understandable. If not, then this should be a well rested Phil Hughes.
It should be Coke for the first two batters next inning, for a couple reasons. The first of which is that their two big lefties are coming up. The second is that, with the possibility of a rain delay, you don't want to go to Hughes and possibly cut short his outing.
I understand that. However, your focus should be more on how wild Burnett is, than one mistake by Posada (when he was blocking all those curves the entire game).
I'm very concerned about a possible regression from Burnett. He would seem to be a good candidate for it.
I'm guessing (may or may not be true) that a possibly suspension did not go through Youkilis' mind when he made the decision to charge the mound. He got caught up in the heat of the moment. Obviously it's his fault. I think we just have to remember the human element of the situation.
