  1. Dude, if either Pavano or Clement is going to get rocked, it will be Pavano. One reason is Clement strikes out more guys than innings, and Pavano has pathetic K rates.
  2. So? The Yankees paid 15 million more for basically the same pitcher with a little better control.
  3. Well we have our Opening Day starter. I was skeptical of Clement but that's when Pedro, Pavano, and Hudson were on the market.

  5. They tried to upgrade from the second best SS to best SS while getting rid of the best hitter outside of San Fran. They also went about the completely wrong way. Millar didn't help either. Nomar didn't feel wanted, and it was wrong since him and Pedro have been the faces of the franchise since 1997-1998.
  6. Pedro gave us every chance since 2002 to sign him to an extension. They decided to wait until he could get his hands on other offers.
  7. No, not f*** Nomar. The owners were *******s and they along with Millar drove him out of town.
  8. So what? He made comments to our owners. Most of them are *******s when it comes to negotiating (ESPECIALLY LUCHINNO!) Pedro gave us EVERY chance to re-sign him. Ever since 2002. When he talks about waiting until the last minute to offer that is what he means, three years later. Not "right after" the Mets offered him a contract.
  9. We have a rotation?
  10. And Pedro would've beat who if Timlin didn't blow it?
  11. For some reason I'm not a big fan of Santana. I find Randy Johnson more exciting to watch. I just can't get into a Johan game. I loved watching games when Pedro showed a few flashes of 1997-2003 Pedro, like his CG SHO vs. TB this past August, I was there. In all honesty, I see Johan coming back to Earth. I'm expecting 18-8, 3.10, 235 K this year.
  12. OK. This stops now. I'm gonna break down or somethin.
  13. Edgar couldn't touch Nomar's average season with his 2003 career year.
  14. Yup. Game 5, 1999 ALDS. Nomar gets intentionally walked twice and O'Leary hits 2 HR, including a Grand Slam.
  15. I was at that Angels game, too. I snuck into the park, and then snuck up onto the Monster. Sat there the whole game.
  16. Holy s***. I forgot this one. Really needs no introduction. Boston Red Sox IP H HR R ER BB K Saberhagen 1 4 2 5 5 1 0 Lowe 2 3 1 3 3 0 2 P. 17. I'm seriously devastated that he tore his rotator cuff. HE WAS UNBELIEVABLE!!

  20. Top 5 Pedro Martinez Starts 1. June 3, 1995 vs. the San Diego Padres. 9 innings, 1 hit, 0 runs, 0 walks 10 strikeouts. Pedro took a perfect game into the 10th, and ended up winning the game, 1-0. Hard to rate this ahead of #2, but he did take a PERFECT GAME into the 10th. Should count as one. 2. September 10, 1999 vs. the New York Yankees 9 innings, 1 hit, 1 run, 0 walks, 17 strikeouts Pedro continued his unbelievable 1999 success by improving his record to 21-4, while limiting the Yankees to 1 hit, a Chili Davis HR. May have gone down as THE best single-game pitching performance, and most memorable had it not been for that HR. 3. May 28, 2000 vs. the New York Yankees 9 innings, 4 hits, 0 runs, 1 walk, 9 strikeouts One of the greatest pitchers duels of all-time. Cy Young vs. Cy Old. Pedro Martinez vs. Roger Clemens. Both pitchers went the distance, with Pedro getting the win. Clemens' line on the night was 9 innings, 5 hits, 2 runs, and 13 strikeouts. 4. July 13, 1999 vs. the National League All-Stars 2 innings, 0 hits, 0 runs, 5 strikeouts If you EVER want to watch vintage Pedro, at his absolute best, this is the game to dig up and watch. This was the possibly the filthiest stuff Martinez ever brought with him. Pedro struck out 5 out of 6 batters, it may have been 5 had Ivan Rodriguez no throwing out a runner on a strike-em-out-throw-emo-ut. Pedro struck out Larry Walker, Barry Larkin, and Sammy Sosa to start the game. He then struck out Mark McGwire to start the second, Matt Williams reached on an error, and Pedro struck out Jeff Bagwell while Ivan threw out Williams. Oh, and it was at FENWAY with Ted Williams in the stadium. 5. October 26, 2004 vs. the St. Louis Cardinals 7 innings, 3 hits, 0 runs, 2 walks, 6 strikeouts Pedro's last start in a Boston Red Sox uniform. He retired the last 14 batters he faced and completed 75% of the ultimate goal, which was reached the next night. Pedro, we know what hat you are taking to Cooperstown with you, and enjoy great success with the Mets. You will no doubt return to being "PEDRO!" and bring home atleast your second NL Cy Young Award. Anybody feel free to continue with starts 6-10.
  21. They showed a piece on Pedro on Sportscenter, and they were showing 1998-2001 clips. I just can't believe how things went down. Torn shoulder...the old owners made him pitch hurt to prove to potential buyers he was healthy...3.90 ERA...
  22. I was hoping the Mets would pull their offer and Pedro would accept arbitration. Well, the greatest 7 year stretch is baseball history is OVER in a Sox uniform, OFFICIALLY.
