  1. Battle of some of the East's best: Sabres and 'Canes in a tight battle 3-3 in the 3rd.
  2. how could he become the next grady? Tito led us to a world series title.
  3. Throughout his career he has taken a team with good talent but one that is missing some parts and won with it. He's an incredibly intelligent manager, and always gets them most out of his players And can get people to play above their potential. Bobby Cox and him are extremely close. Cox is a model of consistency. This year he has done his best job bringing along good young talent as he has always done these last 14 years. I admire his managerial success over the years without as much talent as the Yankees. But seriously, the Braves have become so pathetic in the post-season.
  4. Tony La Russa > Bobby Cox > Joe Torre > Everybody Else
  5. Huh? He was traded to Cleveland.
  6. Pap is there under "rotation," and in another thread he said he doesn't think Gonzalez will be on the opening day roster. and you put Mota on there, we don't have him, we traded him to Cleveland and got Riske in return. Also, where Julian Tavarez?
  7. Let's attack this a different way, here's what each player brings to the table: BARD: 1. Youth 2. Mobility 3. Durability 4. potential (to become a solid backup catcher over the next several years.) HUCKABY: 1. Experience 2. Familiarity with Wakefield (I heard he's been working out with Tim for the last few weeks) FLAHERTY: 1. Leadership 2. Experience with being a "personal catcher" (Randy Johnson in 2005.) All three of these players are offensive black holes, so I don't think there's any real benefit to one or the other with the stick. I believe Bard is a better defensive catcher, though perhaps not as confident a game caller. I think the ability to shape him as a perma-backup over the next several seasons would allow for a reestablished stability at an important position. Though Flaherty and Huckaby bring experience (Flaherty in particular).
  8. A-Gonz will be the starting SS, and I think Flahrety will be the back-up catcher.
  9. http://www.buffalorange.com/images/smilies/army2.gif (just had to post that smiley.)
  10. Yeesh Canada 16 Italy 0.. I guess hockey isn't exactly Italy's sport. I hate to see what the Canada men do against Italy on Wednesday. Hopefully the difference in goals will be single digits.
  11. 3 goals in last 4:47 I think Doc said EDIT: Make that 6-0
  12. Canadiens re-sign Koivu to three-year contract MONTREAL (AP) -- The Montreal Canadiens have re-signed captain Saku Koivu to a $14.25-million, three-year contract extension through the 2008-09 season. The deal also includes a no-trade clause. Koivu could have become an unrestricted free agent July 1. His new average salary with the deal is $4.75 million, up from the $3.42 he is making this year. The 31-year-old center is playing in his 10th season with the Canadiens. In 45 games this season, he has 14 goals and 25 assists. Koivu will play for Finland in the Turin Olympics, marking his third Winter Games.
  13. I'm guessing that it's sold out, don't know for sure though.
  14. I love Comercial-Free TV.
  15. US is dominating the Swiss in Women's Hockey in shots 22-3. Still only 1-0.
  16. LoL, I sense some frustration from 26-6.
  17. If a town primarily thinks of themselves as NY metropolitan they are welcome to name their teams after NY teams. Who cares? The nicknames should be fun and positive, not names that kids will dislike. I'm sure kids wouldn't be thrilled about playing Pee Wee basketball for the Lakers, or hockey for the Habs, or football for the -- I dunno, Jets, I guess. It's just common sense.
  18. If I were naming NE LL teams they'd be after NE baseball teams: Red Sox, Braves, Pilgrims, Americans, Minutemen, Black Bears, Spinners, Sea Dogs, etc.
  19. So, can we assume the Committment to Somewhat Better Than Crappy is back? Nice to see that Al Davis can admit he screwed up. Just took him 12 years to notice it.
  20. Up 10 at the half. 15 for 'Melo. If Melo doesn't make it to Vegas next year for the ASG he will be way more pissed...
  21. Speaking of the olympics, Italy's time zone sucks, all the hockey games start at like 8 in the morning, as well as all the other events.
  22. Yeah, Melo Got snubbed. Nuggets should be up by at least 20 now, but I'll take an 11 point lead.
  23. Wow! This guy was a serious Tool.
