Just to add on this DP deal: the sabres just resigned miller for 3 more years last week.
What would this insane contract have done to Ryan Miller's negotiations? Certainly one could argue that Miller is a more established, productive goalie at this point in his career, and he's not seeing 4.25 million per year, especially not over 15 years.
I'm not saying that Miller would have demanded a 10 year contract...as I don't think any player could honestly, with a straight face, request a similar situation to the one DiPietro now has. However, he might have valued himself in the 4 million range...
It's an absolutely absurd deal and I would hope the NHL would try to weigh in on this. A tremendous slap in the face to everything the lockout/new CBA tried to fix. What a bunch of jerks...
