  1. yankees....just kidding mines the cubs in the NL and the Angels in the AL
  2. how do you get it in new york, is there a way?
  3. "The Yankees feel Johnson will not waive his no-trade clause and will elect to stay put if th etrade is not a done deal by weeks end." story *sorry my computer wouldnt let me quote
  4. thats what all the yankee fans were sayin in '04, and how did you guys do? I musta missed it! its not how many stars you have on a team its how their chemistry and how well they work together...its those guys like billy mueller, johnny damon, trot nixon, papi. The sox are full of role players.... thats why they succeeded this year
  5. what exactly does this mean? I just saw it as a headline, is there anybody who has ESPN Insider that can give us some info on this?
  6. Does anyone think this could become reality soon, since now Tek is signed just like WEEI said would happen?
  7. According to the Globe's Gordon Edes, the Sox were close to striking a deal for disappointing righthander Byung Hyun Kim, mulling offers from at least two National League teams in which they would eat much of Kim's $6 million salary in 2005, while also picking through offers for both of their first basemen, Kevin Millar and Doug Mientkiewicz, one of whom almost certainly will be traded.
  8. Ex-Red Sox lefthander Mike Myers agreed to a $600,000, one-year contract with the Cardinals. Myers, 35, ranked sixth in the AL with 75 relief appearances and combined to go 5-1 with a 4.64 ERA with Seattle and the Red Sox.
  9. did someone say theo is on his way to arizona? if he is this deal could become reality soon which would be a great christmas present! how about clement as our #5 pitcher! WOW! theo=best GM in baseball!
  10. link to Taguchi's Batting Stats My source for the news on chang-yong was his agent who told the YonHap News i currently dont have chang-yong's stats, but i found this: link
  11. what would you rather have?
  12. He's a perfect fit for the sox. This could be the lucky break for the sox. He's only 28 and will be great. He was 31-12 in 2001 and 2002 then battled injuries. I hope the sox go after this guy. He could be this missing link in the rotation. theo should make this a priority and i am sure he will. miller has a superb career record and a sub 4.00 era all while pitching most of his career in houston's tiny home park. if houston wanted him back they would have offered him a contract, arbitration could not have been much of a risk at 7-7 last year. it is reported that miller has recieved a clean bill of health by 2 doctors and is to begin throwing within a month. if theo can land a healthy miller and somehow add another quality bat, the sox will have as good a team as anyone. Sign him and if fails a physical then it will not cost anything... I understand that Houston let Miller go to try to keep cash for Carlos Beltran. Wade Miller's effectiveness dropped from 2002 to 2003. After the season it turned out that his shoulder was sore. In 2004 he was back to his 2002 effectiveness until he went out halfway through the year with a frayed rotator cuff. Yes, the doctors say he's fine now. I dropped Wade Miller into my prognosticator and I was a little bit surprised. It predicts that his ERA+ will be 122 next year, and it's really, really sure of that...too sure, of course, given the external situation, but interesting. More interesting is the high deviation on innings pitched. The model offered a range of 69 to 148 innings pitched, yielding W/L records ranging from 5-3 through 12-7, with a prediction of 9-5.
  13. If this is true its good news. Thats really cheap for a pitcher, and hes probably a good pitcher. Also, it would definitely be an experience to finally bring over someone from a foreign country, to pitch for the sox. I don't know what this guys stats are, but 5 years, 9 million. must say that they want him bad enough to overpay him just enough, so he doesn't draw interest from any other ball clubs in the MLB. I don't think you'll see him start making just under 2 millions a year, but if he signs and does really well in spring training. then I could see him on the roster for atleast the first two weeks. Foreign pitchers are very concentrated on getting batters out, they treat it like a war. With that being said, if he comes out and gets hammered, he will loose all confidence, and the sox will be stuck with him for 5 years, 9 mill. Kind of like the BK Kim experience, lost all his confidence, and now they are stuck with a sizeable contract. ....and are you guys aware that BK Kim will be getting paid more than Papi next year by about 750,000 and on taguchi
  14. Come playoff time the Sox will miss having Dave Roberts. His appearance on the scene for us last year appears now to have been a short but historic occurence. He was a key and added a strategic element that we are not accustomed to having. This trade was going to be done because, to the Sox credit, Roberts wants to start and they wanted to find a place for him to do so. Now he goes home to do so. But this is a loss for us. Jay Payton won't bring to the table what Roberts did...nor Kapler I think. But he is serviceable with decent numbers overall and good speed to cover ground defensively. We also get a utility infielder in Vazquez. Played all 4 positions last year. Seems to be a steady fielder with only 1 error. Lefty batter...can't steal bases. I dunno. At a glance it seems like this put a few capable bodies in place when a Sox outfielder or infielder needs a break. Payton makes 1.5mil. Vazquez 342k. I suppose they're relatively low-cost if nothing else. The 21-year-old Pauley appeared in 27 games - 26 starts - at Class A Lake Elsinore, going 7-12 with a 4.17 ERA. He has a career mark of 24-29 with a 3.97 ERA over four minor league seasons.
  15. The Angels and Orlando Cabrera have agreed to a four-year, $32 million contract, TSN's Ken Rosenthal reports. David Eckstein will be non-tendered as a result. The Angels had money they just had to spend and they didn't really like any of the starting pitchers still available. It seems it came down to Cabrera or Jason Varitek. It doesn't seem like Cabrera is enough of an upgrade over Eckstein to make this worth doing, especially since the team has no shortage of shortstop prospects. Still, it is an upgrade. Our guess is that Eckstein will land in St. Louis. glad he got what he wanted, and again thank you! link
  16. Padres acquire OF Roberts from Red Sox for OF Payton, IF Vazquez link I like this trade even though it is hard to see the speedy roberts go I will never forget you, you are our savior ,good luck in san diego!
  17. The Orioles announced on Monday that they have signed free agent lefty Steve Kline to a two-year contract. The 32-year reliever posted a 1.79 ERA for the Cardinals in 2004. Baltimore also acquired infielder Chris Gomez from the Phillies
  18. no because they haven't sent it to the commisioner
  19. not so fast....dodgers are rethinking this whole trade! and as far as pitching staffs go lets see what Will Carroll from Baseball Prospectus has to say...shall we? and the yankmee's... pending johnson trade link
  20. nah, either red sox :harhar: or dodgers IMO
  21. i think they should get el duque, or zito, lilly, or burnett? what do you think?
  22. any chance of us going after Zito now? maybe for hanley?!
  23. good signing but Sox must have another EXCELLENT pitcher - not another good pitcher. Opposing teams will load up against Curt in each series as he goes through the season. A three game series against Tampa, followed by a three game series in Baltimore, and then a four game series in New York - Curt will be the do or die guy in each series and they will all be gunning for him. It will be a long season for Mr. Schilling - can clement, Wells, Wakefield and Arroyo support a 98 game win season ?
  24. so do we still go after another pitcher during this offseason like a Perez or Burnett or do we wait and keep this rotation & then in the season go after a Sheets or some other highly sought after guy??? ...in other words we arent truly gonna go and keep Hanley Ramirez for the next 4 years, ar we???
