I wouldn't be suprised if the Sox do get a power hitter for 1b, just because theres a lot of good ones fairly cheap. I wouldn't be suprised if the Dmitri Young rumors are true, just because the Tigers have really soured on him, Anybody who has a nickname 'da meat hook' and wears a do-rag would likely fit in good on this team. another option is ryan howard, he wants out of philly and is a winner and will smack 30 homers maybe more in a full season

I'll give my two cents here: now they are talking about arroyo and sanchez for lowell and burnett. I say do this deal ONLY if Burnett is willing to sign an extension. But I definetely do not like the idea of trading Sanchez! If what we need is pitching the last thing we want to do is give away our pitchers that aren't good now but will be great later. Maybe Delcarmen, but if Sanchez is as good as everyone says he is I hope Theo wouldn't let him go. I think Florida should be happy to get Arroyo a guy they could have control of for a while. On the other hand, they would lose Burnett to free agency anyway. I think a straight swap would be fair, but if we had to, we could add another prospect that is not as far along as Sanchez. Theo has to pull off some magic here. I think Burnett would be an upgrade over Arroyo because Burnett is a strikeout pitcher. Guys from the NL that don't strike guys out seem to have trouble in the AL. Examples of successful transitions were Pedro Martinez, Schilling, Clement. Guys from the NL that were not good strikeout pitchers include Suppan, Pavano, Wright. I just hope Theo does not give up too much.

I guess i'm just afraid of closers who don't strike people out and have to rely on the fielders all the time, which Wickman does. Foulke, even though he's never thrown hard, has always been a K pitcher, getting at least a K per inning pitched. But yeah, i will take him if there is nothing else out there...but I would much rather have wagner, but who would cost an ass load of $$$

I see Youk as still being very immature and unseasoned vs. Mueller. Mueller may be older and in not as good physical shape, but he brings experience and quiet competence into the mix. He consistently makes the difficult plays with no fanfare, no nerve and no excuses. Youk will be great in the future but he is still not ready to take Mueller's place., IMO anyone think youk is too old to have any hidden potential?

Just think how mad the orioles would be if we move in and get Burnett. I am all for getting Burnett and I would make sure that he would resign with us before any deal is made for about 4-36 or up to 4-40 with and injury claus or maybe an innings pitched claus to protect us long term. I think that Lowell is a good option at third with gold glove defense and a change of scenery may do him well for a slumping first half. He is only 31 and looking at the free agent first basemen and third basemen for next year at about 10 million for two more years isnt that bad seeing how Beltre got 14 per year last year. Fenway I believe will help his hitting stats with the monster and we are also losing Mueller, Millar, Olerud, Cora, and possibly JD after this season.....or we could just trade lowell to the twins for romero
