  1. would you have him on your team?
  2. how could you no tbe impressed by that?
  3. http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/news/story?id=2131685
  4. didn't we go to philly this year too?
  5. hmmm....well if they double-dogged dared him, then he has to accept, if he didnt he would be known as a pussy, oh wait...he's a yankee fan, same thing
  6. I didn't find it funny, but rather stupid. That kid could have killed himself and people sitting around him.
  7. some yankee fans thought this was an accident (not yankeedoodle or other yankee fans on this board, mostly on YES)...so heres my rant: Yankee fan that isn't at least one of those things. 9 times out of 10, they fall under the "biased" category. Want examples of that? Okay, here goes: 1. Yankee fans are actually numb enough to believe that A-Rod didn't get hit with Dye's throw on purpose a few nights ago. 2. Yankee fans are actually numb enough to defend A-Rod's slappy play in the playoffs. 3. Yankee fans cry about the umps making CORRECT calls in the playoffs last year. Things get so out of hand, the police have to line each foul line in full protective gear. I guess that's the "Yankee class" we hear about so often. Yet when a bad call goes their way, it's "just baseball". 4. Yankee fans actually defended Clemens when he threw the bat at Piazza. They were numb enough to believe Clemens when he said "I thought it was the ball". Really? Even if that were true and a guy that has held a baseball ALL HIS LIFE couldn't tell the difference between a bat and a ball, WHY WOULD HE BE THROWING A BALL AT PIAZZA RUNNING DOWN THE LINE!?!?!? 5. Yankee fans defend and CHEER for an admitted cheater (Giambi). Apology or not (and it was a very weak one at that), why would you cheer for someone that has helped to put a black mark on the game? 6. Yankee fans are actually numb enough to believe Sheffield when he said "I didn't know the cream was a steroid". Yeah, okay. Want me to keep on going? Now before you say something like "most Yankee fans aren't like that", I suggest you read through the posts on the Yankee board and you'll see you're wrong. In EVERY one of those cases above, the VAST overwhelming majority of the posts on the Yankee board were made by Yank fans defending the Yankee players for their actions.
  8. Maybe they're being too hard on the kid. Afterall, if my team stunk as bad as the Yanks did and I had to watch a bunch of cheating Juice-Boys play every night, I'd probably want to jump off something too
  9. haha..UCONN?!?!? LOL didnt their college basketball players like steal computers from the dorms?
  10. that was a great trade. Everyone kept saying, who cares he only bats ninth and blah blah blah. This is the Red Sox who can do damage with 2 outs any game, any time (as we did the last 2 nights with a little help from guess who-Graff!). Bellhorn was a momentum killer who rarely put the ball in play. Graff has been a great addition and I hope he stays where he is. Considering Bellhorn is last in batting average IN THE MINORS, it shouldn't be a problem. Another great move was getting Kapler back, pieces are coming together. Next piece is getting Foulke back and in form so Schill can start again.
  11. we are 16-6 without K-Horn. No - I'd say it's no coincidence. Graffinino is exactly what this team needed. He's one of the good moves that Theo made during the season. Maybe not as big of an impact as the Nomar trade last season, but still a major piece of the puzzle! I appreciate the contributions that Mark Bellhorn made for us last year (especially some big hits and homers in the playoffs and WS), but 2005 is 2005, and we needed a change @ 2nd base. Tony G. has been terrific since we got him. Fits right in - and plays good "D" and HITS!!!
  12. heres the steroid article
  13. As I loathe the change to an "Insider" option that now appears mandatory in order to read new articles I thought some people might appreciate them being posted up to "Insiders" of the Red Sox nation.
  14. In Gammons newest article on insider Gammons says the rumor around Major League Baseball is that 50 players have tested positive for steroids including one name bigger than Palmerio. Here are some direct quotes from the article. "The steroid rumor mill has been spinning out of control. More than 50 players tested positive, one megastar. Clubhouse talk. Maybe it's only a dozen, but there's a bigger name than Rafael Palmeiro. That's what's going around. " "At this point, this is all nothing but idle speculation, seemingly exaggerated, since the executive council hasn't been notified, and those members had known for a long time about Palmeiro, Ryan Franklin and another player whose name will soon leak out. " "For now, we are in a whirlpool of speculation and rumor-mongering, much of which has a tinge of McCarthyism. Which begs the question: When are the leaders of the players' association -- not the lawyers in their employ -- going to raise their voices? " I Hope to God if this is true that none are Red Sox players. why don't they release the names of players who test NEGATIVE?? Could end a lot of needless speculation.
  15. I really hope we don't have to face off vs Oakland in the ALDS, they really scare me.
  16. yup...USC all the way
  17. I will be getting tix for that mets series, thats a must
  18. http://www.boston.com/sports/baseball/redsox/articles/2005/08/11/sox_yanks_won146t_debut_until_may_in_2006/ Is there a particular reason the Sox ALWAYS open on the road??? They did in 2003 (at Tampa), they did in 2004 (at Balt.), now 2005 (at NY). I know it's cold in Boston, but it's not like it is MUCH warmer that NEXT WEEK, when they do play their first home game (or in NY or Balt for that matter). It would be nice to have a "real" opening day at Fenway, vice an opening day when the team in already 5-2 or something coming off a road trip.
  19. Man that was amazing because he was fully stretched out with no room to manipulate his arm. I could not believe my eye's when he made that grab. That was the most unique catches I have seen and may be one of the best plays i have ever witnessed. he is going to be a superstar.
  20. Holy s***, this might be the best play I've ever seen. Certainly better than Jeter's dive last year, if you don't count the circumstances..met.com calls it a "mind-boggling catch". It's Willie Mays with the BAREHAND. Incredible.
  21. yeah I heard florida state might sue over this.
  22. lets hope this is true, when/if he gets back to form our bullpen will be substantially better
