  1. Smart move by the Yankees to pick up Bobby Abreu's option. He is a terrific player all-around whose ability to accrue quality at-bats, even if he doesn't always get on base, is nearly unmatched. There's one fewer need for the offseason.
  2. The basic book on Santana at this point is both he and the Twins are looking for a ransom Hes willing to give the Twins a discount of 21 mil per for 6 outside of Minny he is looking to be the first 25 million dollar pitcher and the Twins are looking for at least 1 major league on the brink of being an all star player and 2 A pitching prospects. My problems w/ that: 1.Pitchers are so year to year, even one as good as Santana, that 6 years at 25 mil per is a little pricey 2.He didnt come up through your own teams system so you dont know how he was handled(ties into #3) 3.Hes got a lot of miledge on that arm for only being 27. Hes always going deep into games and you have to wonder how long he could keep it up In any case hes the best in the game and left handed so he would be an upgrade for anyone and if I'm the Twins and I can get what there asking I'd prolly do it
  3. This is not a rumor at all Sean McAdam was just bringing up some what if's for the offseason. It just kind of took off from there (I was listening as well).
  4. I would love that. But, they have Yunel Escobar, which made Renteria expendable. Escobar hit .326 in 94 games last year with 5 HRs and 28 RBI. He's going to be a hell of a player. The Braves wanted to save money because they need SP so with Escobar trading Rents was the obvious choice. Also look for Torii Hunter/Mike Cameron to be the Braves CF next year with Cameron being the most logical choice.
  5. So I was talking about this with some people in class and heres what we came up with: 1. Free Agent: Only one worth looking at is Mike Lowell from the Red Sox and he isn't going anywhere IMO 2.In House: -Betemit would be the logical candidate but we're really not as high on him as the Yankee Organization is -Moving Cano to third, he has the arm for it and range but hes really improved his Defense so much at 2nd. -Andy Phillips, I think him battling out w/ Betemit is the last resort option for the Yankees 3.Minors -Not really much there in terms of offense, you guys have some good young defenders there though but no one who is major league ready 4.Trade -J.Crede: Good player but he does get injured an awful lot. Could probably get him a little cheaper because the White Sox would be selling low -S.Rolan I guess the Yankees have liked him for awhile, I wouldn't be willing to give up anything of real worth for him unless St.Louis eats most the contract and even then I dont know -A.Beltre: I guess he might be available bbecausec Seattle wants to start sinking more $$$ into the rotation. Would cost to much IMO though -M.Cabrera: Uber talented w/ the bat. Very overrated defender IMO and is said to be a bit of a slacker, not to mention his weight gain. The Marlins would want a ransom for him and he doesnt want to leave the Miami area. -T.Glaus: Might be on the block, but and I wouldnt mind him. That would be a tricky in Divisional trade though. Also, does anyone get the feeling the Yankees are going to go after Andruw Jones to replace the right handed power vacancy that was once occupied by Arod.
  6. You can never question Lester's mental toughness. It's just a complete 180 from where he was a year ago.
  7. I wonder if that gets the Sox off the hook for the money they have been paying the Braves.
  8. Well we they win big and they win the tight ones and have given the Rockies more losses in 2 days than they have had in a month. And this series is over exactly for that reason. Fewer than 30 hours ago, the Rockies thought they were invincible, having dropped only one of their last 22; now they've already lost two games in a two-night span. They're done.
  9. God , did fans in boston make a deal with the devil? Red Sox, Patroits, Boston College, Celtics and bruins all winning
  10. I SO f***ING CALLED US WINNING THIS SERIES AFTER GAME 4!!!! i have class at 930 and am too pumped to sleep.....is it wednesday yet?!?!
  11. 171 Games all come down to this 1 Game. f***ing Win.
  12. Two of Byrd's prescriptions for growth hormones were not written by a physician, according to a law enforcement source. Instead, the prescriptions were written by a Florida dentist, said the source, who asked not to be quoted by name because he was not authorized to comment. The dentist's license was suspended in 2003 for fraud and incompetence, state records show.
  13. I am so psyched for this basketball season. Being a student at Syracuse with the #2 recruiting class. Midnight Madness was off the hook and I can't wait to get this season underway. [youtube=Send it in, Arinze!]Z75d2YWo2lY
  14. Is it possible to pitch on 1 days rest? http://cache.boston.com/bonzai-fba/Globe_Photo/2007/10/18/1192765314_8575.jpg
  15. We all have to bow to Beckett's greatness. Him pitching a playoff game is like Tiger Woods leading a major entering the final round. The opposition might as well not even show up; it's a done deal, a foregone conclusion.
  16. Boy, Rutgers let it all hang out, didn't they? Great job by the Scarlet Knights, and especially Coach Greg Schiano. USF is still a damn good team, but Rugers was clearly the better team Thursday night. Both these teams still have a lot to look forward to this season. The Big East's BCS spot is totally up for grabs right now.
  17. http://www.ibabuzz.com/allyoucaneat/wp-content/uploads/2007/01/cupcake.jpg GET TO CUPCAKE SABATHIA EARLY AND OFTEN!!!
  18. I will make this prediction though. If the Guardians lose Game 5 they will lose the Series.
  19. Going forward... PURSUE AND SIGN AROD!
  20. He has a live arm and is very athletic, but he has a side arm whippy release. He looks like a real gamer here but he plays way too fast and loose / helter skelter. He is fun to watch but he will be a major project at the next level. He actually reminds me of JP Losman. He only has a 2:1 TD:INT ratio so far this year. That's not good. Yeah he eneded up with some big stats in the San Jose game, but he made a lot of dumb plays too.
  21. does anyone think colt brennan will actually be anything at the next level?
