  6. Hansen will DEFINANTLY be more sucessfull then Cla Meredith because he is the type of pitcher that gets people out based on his stuff alone. Cla relys on movement and catching the corners which without experience is hard to do well in the bigs. Hansen has a 95 MPH fastball and a nasty slider so he can get away with being inexperienced, period. Hansen will be better then Cla, but I dont know exactly how good he will be.
  7. love that quote...welcome

  10. I doubt hanley will get that much time
  11. They flashed the numbers for Ortiz and ARod the other day on BBTN. While they're pretty close on just about everything, there was a signifcant gap between the two in terms of BA with RISP. I don't recall the exact figures, but the graphic did support the theory that Ortiz comes up big when his team needs him most, whereas ARod is at his best in 11-3 ballgames.
  12. It'll be interesting to see the battle for the final spot on the playoff roster. I think we can agree the following 8 are definite: Wakefield, Wells, Clement, Schilling, Arroyo, Timlin, Myers, and Papelbon, with Bradford the probable 9th. That would leave Foulke, Delcarmen, Hansen, and the rest of the pen fighting for the last spot, assuming we take 10 pitchers into the 1st series. I think H. ramirez will be called up too....
  13. take a glance at wakefields numbers the past 2 weeks.....thats what I thought

  15. Red Sox Notebook: Pitching prospect ready for debut BY SEAN McADAM and PAUL KENYON Journal Sports Writer BOSTON -- The Portland Sea Dogs' postseason came to an end last night, which means there's a very good chance that Craig Hansen's major-league career is about to begin. The Sea Dogs lost to Akron last night, 4-1, for the Eastern League championship. Portland dropped the best-of-five series to the Aeros, three games to one, and returned to Maine last night. The Sox want to check in today with Hansen, who did not pitch last night, and see how he's doing physically. Hansen was shut down for two weeks earlier this month with a dead arm, but has pitched for the Sea Dogs in the postseason and reported no soreness. His fastball has regularly been 95 to 96 mph. Boston begins a week-long road trip to Tampa Bay and Baltimore starting tomorrow, and the Sox organization likes the idea of having Hansen make his debut on the road, away from the media attention that would blanket his debut at Fenway. Though he was not on the major-league roster before Sept. 1, Hansen could be eligible for the postseason roster if he can convince the club that's he's worthy of a spot over the final two weeks.
