  1. He has got to go right after this guy, no more screwing around with corners.
  2. Amazing how teams beat up this pitcher and yet the Sox hitters look like they're having trouble.
  3. The Sox lineup must score early and often to take the pressure off Dice-K so he can throw strikes and stay ahead in counts. As soon as Dice-K falls behind 3-1, 2-1, 3-0 in counts he will pile up walks and get ripped. I would love to see Dice-K show some guts and start throwing first pitch strikes and then let hitters chase on 0-2 and 1-2 counts.
  4. I know he bears down at the plate better than most. The only way to hit lefthanded pitching is to face lefthanded pitching and he never really got that chance here. I'm not suggesting the Sox should have kept him, but it is a heavy dose of ironic justice for Trot.
  5. I'm sure the Sox FO still thinks Nixon can't hit lefthanded pitching. Gagne has no place on this team and I still cannot understand why Lopez is still in the big leagues.
  6. My nightmare inning...Gagne and now Lopez.
  7. Gagne...time for me to start drinking heavily.
  8. Monday night listening to the NY radio station on XM Suzyn Waldman was crying while doing her post game locker room report. CRYING!!! Not only unprofessional but certianly misplaced. She acted like Torre just dropped dead from a heart attack. I'm wondering if yankee fans find her act as annoying as much as the rest of us.
  9. Dice K's last playoff start in Japan one year ago against Fukuoka. 9 inning, complete game shutout 137 pitches 6 hits no walks 4 hit batsmen 13 Ks
  10. I have no problem wearing a Sox hat in NY. Sports is a form of entertainment and going back and forth verbally with other fans is a part of that, and anyone who takes this too seriously and gets physical needs to address the priorities in their life. Assault is against the law, and any moron who wants to assault another human being for whatever reason can sit in jail and pay the legal price for his/her actions. I hope this Sox fan hauls their asses into civil court for lost wages, plus pain and suffering.

    TBS

I think it was in the fifth inning when Stone suggested Lackey hit Ortiz with a pitch in the hip on a 3-1 count. The other guy said nothing.

    TBS

I only got to watch the Sox game, but to me the TBS coverage was awful. The announcers called this game like it was April. Steve Stone actually has a good reputation, but he seemed off his game and the guy calling the game was just dull, and the guy down on the field couldn't finish a complete sentence. I'm runnign for radio on Friday.
  13. I head in WEEI that Garrett Anderson will not play. Time for Beckett to be the pitching stud he can be. I'm looking for big hits from Ortiz and yes, JD Drew.
  14. I'm not thrilled about Lopez and Kielty. Lopez is a lefty reliever who can't get lefties out and Kielty has looked bad the plate lately.
  15. If Schilling is pitching Game 3 Sunday then why didn't Francona pitch him yesterday for a few innings against the Twins? I'm hoping this is not a health question for Schilling.
  16. Those last two at bats by Kielty and Mirabelli was just plain awful. Two players who seem to have no idea at the plate. No clutch spots for them in October. On to the playoffs!!!
  17. YESSSSS!!! AL EAST CHAMPS!!!!
  18. MORAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!! O's Win!!!!! SOX WIN THE EAST!!!!
  19. Drew seems to be swinging the bat better in September, 323 avg, 565 slugging. Maybe it was the distraction of the health of his son, or finally adapting to AL pitching but he is swinging the bat better and not a moment too soon. He's been beat up all year and seemed to take it like a pro. If he can go on a tear in October, he may be the difference between winning and losing.
  20. I know, but what I'm hearing tonight on WEEI is this idea that the Sox are willing to back into the playoffs so they can be healthy and rested. I know hockey teams try to cruise until the playoffs, but this seems new to baseball. If it's true, it's just wild enough for some non-traditional baseball people to dream up.
  21. I think the Cardinals did lose 10 of their last 14 to end the regular season, but I doubt that was part of any grand plan.
  22. So now the popular theory is that the Sox are sitting guys and slowing it down in order to get ready for the playoffs. I don't think it's that easy to suddenly turn it on, especially if it is on the road against LA or Cleveland. Does anyone else buy into this idea that it is better to just rest guys and hand away the division so they can be ready for October?
  23. the Sox play well against the Angels at Fenway. Home field advantage is very important.
  24. Let's not forget Ortiz is playing with a shredded knee.
