  1. I think he'll just retire. Then again...that was the opinion shared by a lot of people in recent years...
  2. Oh wow I had no idea that Broxton already broke in. I guess I'll be paying more attention to the Dodgers via MLB.TV
  3. Did Billingsley get to pitch a decent amount of innings this past season? When are Kemp and Broxton expected to break into the bigs? I'm extremely interested in following Broxton.
  4. Looks kind of photoshopped, but cool if it's for real. People on this board need to chill the f*** out.
  5. I lived in the same building as Johnny Damon and Manny Ramirez 3 years ago. I went to the gym across the street a lot and saw Pedro and Manny working out every now and then. I would at least say hi to them and they'd say hi back. It was pretty cool. I batted with Johnny Damon at a hitting clinic for a day. Zak Farkes is in the Sox' Minor League system and I know him. He played ball for my high school and works out at our gym everyday after school so I talk to him sometimes after school. I at least see him every day. My mom's maiden name is Cronin, so through her side of the family I'm related to Joe Cronin.
  6. I understand, but my point is that AT THE TRADE DEADLINE, when NO ONE was ailing, they cried poverty. They didn't have the injuries to fall back on as an excuse at the time.
  7. The one you just posted basically is the same exact list... If we're going off of last year, I'd say this: AL Central AL East NL East NL West AL West NL Central The AL West was god-awful last year. I still don't know how the A's managed to beat the Twins.
  8. I didn't say that not making those moves was the only thing that kept our season from dwindling down the drain. At the deadline, that 60% was healthy, and the FO still should have made moves. I realize the fact that 60% of the starting rotation went down, and I know that's a big part of why our season had a suck ass ending. I wasn't talking about reasons that our season failed. I was talking about the trade deadline, and my reactions to it from a Red Sox fan's perspective.
  9. I don't either. I don't see a trade deadline move coming up either. Helton has made it clear that he'll waive his no trade clause for a move to Boston, but he wants it to be done quickly or he'll be vetoing any other trade. I wouldn't say that ending discussions, even if it's just a ploy, is getting it done quickly.
  10. I don't know what he'll do. If he doesn't play as much as he's supposed to, he'll have s*** thrown at him from the stands. If he plays like we all know he can and does so on a consistent basis, it'll be a great signing. Either way, we look at it as an upgrade because he's better than Trot Nixon. Even if he goes on the DL, he'll be better than what we got out of Trot Nixon. Nixon went on the DL just as much in the past. We like the signing because either way you look at it, we have an upgrade in RF.
  11. Actually, Dice-K is pronounced the same way as Daisuke. It's not really a nickname. I will say though, I would love to have a couple pitchers in the Sox rotation that are in that of the Dodgers. Penny/Schmidt anyone? Yes, please.
  12. Maybe the Red Sox knew somehow that Drew was going to opt out of his contract? That way they knew that they could get him during FA for $$$ instead of giving anyone up. Besides, I bet they thought that they could get Drew for cheaper than they did, as they had no idea the market was going to blow up like it did. Circumstances were completely different then. We also had the problem of trying to fit Nixon and WMP in at the same time in right field. We would have had 3 RFs at the time if we traded for Abreu. Now that Nixon's gone it was easier to sign Drew. That being said, I was in favor of trading for Abreu. I saw it as another move that our FO failed to make to insure our team would withstand the season.
  13. Again, you've managed to confound me by using me in your post.
  14. Haha, fair enough. Maybe we'll be specifically talking about you in the Minor League forum on this board in a couple years time. Welcome to the board
  15. Then it couldn't be the worst day of your life.
  16. What's your name?
  17. Well, if they get Hansen and Delcarmen along with Bowden ... I don't see how they'd pass it up. Also, haha why do you call yourself Rodney Harrison? Are you a Chargers fan and you like him still, or...?
  18. He's referring to all the people that are saying Lugo/Drew will suck/be amazing because it's pointless. I'm with him...I can't wait until this all plays out on the field and we have actual baseball to analyze.
  19. Exactly, it used to be 7 of the last 8 years. From now on, it's going to be a 3 team race. And at the rate that each team will be beating each other up, only one of them will most likely make the playoffs. Dodgers/Giants is alright, but the hostility between fans just isn't the same. Baseball between those fans is NOT the same. I don't know if you've ever been to Boston or New York, but you won't go 5 minutes without seeing or hearing something anti-Yankee or anti-Red Sox. Dodgers/Giants is good but no one outside of LA/SF would recognize it as the biggest rivalry in baseball.
  20. He might waive a no trade clause, supposedly, to come to Boston.
  21. Wait, what's this talk about Helton...?
