  1. I guess I'm the stupid one....Who's Kris Benson's wife?
  2. noony, I don't think the Sox have even LOOKED at Benson. They're still thinking about the whole Suppan thing, how he came over and really sucked in Boston. Honestly I don't think Benson is going to make a big impact. He's a #3 or #4 starter on a contending team.... Also, I think the Sox would have to give up more than he's worth to get him. Keep in mind the Mets, Twins, and maybe a few others (Angels?) will be gunning for a pitcher, and Benson seems to be the only one readily available. I say no, don't Bend for Benson. I don't think he's better than what we already have
  3. It truly does make me sick. Even DO and Schilling got fines for the incident. Not that this particular ruling should really hurt us in the long run... (if it does we're in trouble) but it just seems pretty unfair to me.
  4. http://mlb.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/mlb/news/mlb...r_mlb&fext=.jsp As usual, the Sox get the short end of the stick....getting 5 players punished while the Yankees only get 3.
  5. The thing with the Sox is, though, if they don't get anything done before July 31st, they aren't getting ANYthing done. Can you imagine George letting anyone we try to get past waivers? On the other hand, if the Yankees don't get Randy by the deadline, we will most certainly block him.
  6. A-Rod hasn't been in pinstripes long enough for me to hate him as much as I hate Jeter....but I hate him too. V-Tek WILL get suspended, because he threw the first punch....I'd guess 3-5 games maybe? That's a pure guess... A-Rod, Kapler, and Sturtze may also be looking at suspensions too...
  7. GMS, The idea of a low base, high incentive salaries seems like a much more fair way to do things, but the problem then becomes 25 guys now playing now for their individual salaries, not for the team.
  8. I have to side against you Zenny (for the first time in a while) and say that Gammons usually knows what he's talking about. That is a little curious to hear the two completely different reports...
  9. The problem is that the Yankee clubhouse already has a lot of bad blood: Gary Sheffield Kevin Brown Kenny Lofton Guys that are just not team players...yet Joe Torre turns them around. George is irrational MOST of the time, but he's smart enough not to turn on Torre. Just about any other manager and that clubhouse really would fall apart. Can we truly believe that Randy would somehow disrupt that mix? Probably not...we can hope though.
  10. Brown had the parasite, but they haven't made a big deal out of it. He mostly has just been pitching s***** at the minor league level. The last thing I heard on Brown was that he got thumped by the Red Sox AA team.....
  11. He's appealed it, and we haven't heard anything back regarding the results of the appeal.
  12. Tonight is a game we must win. The Yankmees are playing a stretch against Toronto (who can't seem to win no matter what they do) and in order to simply keep up, we've got to beat Baltimore tonight.
  13. http://www.boston.com/sports/baseball/reds..._sox_cant_lose/ The rainout actually helps this team. See above article.
  14. I understand there is some hostility toward's ESPN articles I post, so here's one from MLB.com about rumors. http://mlb.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/mlb/news/mlb...e2004&fext=.jsp BTW...I just like to share with everyone what I read (for reference). I don't always believe it, I don't always agree with it.
  15. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/columns/stor...yson&id=1847650 This article talks about a lot of stuff: Steve Finley only wants to go to the West Coast Florida's going hard after Walker The Yankmees might deal Lofton for prospects in a deal for Johnson Benson to Mets, Angels...or Braves? A lot of things are brought up here. One thing I like is the rumor that the Braves might be interested in Danny Bautista. He's hitting well in Arizona, and tore up the Yankees in the 2001 World Series. He plays all outfield positions (well), and he can hit. He'd be a good addition if the Sox can pick him up. Also, a Peter Gammons article posted below. More rumors. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/gammons/story?id=1847512
  16. RJ Talks heating up? Randy sets deadline of today according to this article: http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/columns/stor..._bob&id=1847766 Still looks like Angels and Yankees are suitors. The best case senario for us is that Randy stays in Arizona, but obviously I'd prefer Anaheim if he gets traded. Stay tuned.
  17. I'm going to respond to the article you posted a link for now: 1. agents are bitches. Why do you think Randy's agent wants him in pinstripes? $$$. He knows the Yankees will give him an extension at whatever he wants. 2. Randy seems like he's got an atitude. Getting into fights and whatnot with his players. What did Gonzo do to deserve such treatment? Maybe Randy gets traded to the bronx and tears that clubhouse apart....
  18. I agree. A-Rod's a bitch, teams aren't exactly afraid to face our lineup, and our bullpen has me a bit worried.
  19. Crespo, We're just going to have to agree to disagree on this one. I hope I'm wrong, and the unit stays in Arizona...... It just seems to me Arizona would jump at the opportunity to unload Mantei and Alomar (even if it came at the expense of Johnson) for prospects....Since they're not going to win this year. Again, I respect your opinion...but I don't agree with it.
  20. Crespo, I'm sure Zenny will respond to your Shoppach question, but I'll take a crack at it first: Shoppach needs playing time. He's currently struggling a bit in AAA, and they see him as a big part of the future. If he's struggling in AAA, moving him up to the bigs probably won't cure that, and probably won't be good for his development. I don't believe Beltran will be traded at all. Seems like Houston still thinks they're in it. I don't like the idea of Jeff Kent. The Sox already have enough players who can smash the ball, but can't run, bunt, or play defense. Just say no to Jeff Kent.
  21. One thing related to Terry Adams coming on: Curtis Leskanic was put on the DL to make room. The Sox still need an additional arm in that pen. Hopefully Mendoza is reliable enough to bridge the gap until Williamson comes back!
  22. which post was this?
  23. Honestly I think this deal has NO merit. Floyd already played for the Sox, and he's always hurt. Manny's Manny....he comes with positives and negatives (more positives than negatives) but I don't think this deal could EVER happen. Don't hold your breath, Noah.
  24. I agree. This team's won 3 games in a row... Not exactly grounds for declaring the season turned around. And honestly: Beating the Orioles should be EXPECTED, not celebrated....
  25. I've always really liked Daubach, he plays the game hard, has decent skills, and never causes any trouble. I think the only issue with calling up Daubach may be his limited defensve ability. He's an OK first baseman from what I remember, but honestly is he any better than Millar in the outfield? I like the idea of bringing Daubach up, because as I stated, I do really appreciate the way he plays the game. That being said, I'd like to see Gabe Kapler get more playing time with Nixon out. He plays very good defense, seems to be heating up with the bat, and plays with the intensity that this team has lacked. This team will miss Nixon, no doubt. I think that the Sox called up Andy Dominique because he can catch, and they know we're gunna lose Varitek for at least a few cames because of the fight, and we need a backup carcher.
